Cuckoo For Steampunk!

Hope you are having a beautiful day!  It is going to be in the 80's here today and I think it will be a lovely day for working in the yard.  Although when I did that the other day, I paid for it will nasty allergies for two days!    I suppose that is like working with stamps and inks and paying for it with stained fingernails?   I don't know about you, but I sure get very excited over Tim's new releases.  All my life I have had pretty good self-control, but not when it comes to Tim!
The inspiration for this Tag came from a brand new challenge blog,  SanDee & Amelie's Steampunk Challenges, "Cuckoo Clocks Go Steampunk."    Inspiration Journal is all about adding a little "P.O.P" and this has pocket watch has two chipboard layers and is further elevation by large "Pop Dots."  We are also taking flight with Bloggers Challenge, "Come Fly With Me."
The new Pocket Watch die was cut from both Black Card Stock and Chipboard, stamped in Opalite Ink and clear embossed.  These inks have a really nice metallic look and I love them!  I then used the steampunk gear to cut out the opening for the sweet little birds, through one layer of CS and CB.  The second CB cut was just for dimension.
The background clocks from Hero Arts was stamped in VersaMark and clear embossed, inked with Distress and then Tim's "Mini Blueprints 3" gears was stamped in Black Soot in a random pattern.  The next step was pulling out that iron and you know the rest!
Hope you are enjoying the week and have a wonderful weekend - almost!  Thank you for stopping by!

Stamps:  Tim's Tiny Things and Mini Blueprints #3, Hero Arts Clock Background
Inks, Opalite Golden Mist and Winter Rust, Distress Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint, Bard Door, Rusty Hinge, Black Walnut, Black Soot, VersaMark

Flower Power!

The Fashionettes are showing their "Flower Power" and that can be floral stamping and or handmade flowers.  Just remember there has to be some form of stamping as Digi images are not allowed.  There is a prize from Cottage Crafts and always the "Top Three," so  come join in the fun at Fashionable Stamping Challenges!   For more inspiration and a lovely bouquet for the eyes, stop by FSC to see what my super talented DT Sisters have gone and done!  Simon Says Stamp and Show current challenge is "No Rules," so I will link this up there!
For my card, I decided to go pretty and feminine!  Not so easy for me as I am always tempted to add that little bit of grunge, but for this, I went pretty!  The background was stamped with Archival Coffee and distressed with Frayed Burlap, as was the smaller flower.  The two flower pieces were cut using a Spellbinders die and I did trim the pink one, so it would be a little smaller.  These come in three sizes and I wanted something in between.  All petal edges were distressed, you know I had to!  The Woman is from Hero Arts and I inked up some shimmery paper, starting with Spun Sugar in the center and working out with Antique Linen, Pumice Stone and then shaded with Frayed Burlap!

Now the pretty little flower trim was gifted to me by my friend,  Lucy, of True Colours!  Yes, she is as sweet as can be!  I cut some of the trim into segments to embellish the bottom!  This is so pretty!  Thank you again, Lucy!

Well I have been busy getting some things caught up DT wise as next week, I will be busy getting some food taken care of for the house sitter we will have.  Over the Labor Day weekend we are making a trip to visit our son for his birthday.  Oh and I will be having a quick visit with another blogger friend that I actually knew before blogging, so that adds to the excitement!  Anyway, I do so appreciate your visits and will be visiting you all really soon!  Have a wonderful weekend!

It's All About Dressmaking, Corsets and or Accessories!

At Fashionable Stamping Challenges it is all about "Dressmaking, Corsets, Accessories" and we would love to have you join us in some great fun and a chance at a prize!   Really stop by and see the gorgeous creations my DT Sisters have designed for your viewing pleasure and inspiration!  I am so thrilled to be with such a talented group and of course they are quite fun!  BTW, I once sewed and made most of my clothes, even jeans!  I will never forget one year, I wanted a fancy pair of jeans!  Went to the fabric store, picked out my denim and some metallic silver piping!  Oh those were really some fancy pants and now I wish I had taken a picture!  Here is my interpretation of "Dressmaking."
For my background, I stamped and clear embossed on white card stock using Tim's Haberdashery stamps.  Covered with Distress Inks and sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist.  Once dry, I ran it through Tim's embossing folder and highlighted.  The little buttons and spool were cut with shrink plastic and colored with Sharpies to match the ladies dresses!  Added a little thread and again to match!  Now my styling ladies is a Hero Arts stamp that was 40% off at JoAnn's and when I saw it, I grabbed it just for this challenge!  Is this perfect or what?  Stamped with Black Stazon and colored the bodies with Stampin Up Chalks.  I wanted a subtle coloring for the skin.  I stamped again on colored card stock for their outfits and fuzzy cut to give my ladies a little more depth.  Used another embossing folder for the stitching, added an old zipper on the bottom edge and held it in place with straight pins!   Another fun project!

Thank you for visiting and sure hope you will stop by FSC and join in on the fun!
