Tin Man Looking for Love!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I knew I had to incorporate this Tin Man from Artistic Outpost. When this plate was first released, I just had to have it! My DH loves the "Wizard of Oz" and I knew I would be using this image, but was not sure quite how. Well it all started with Linda and the new CCC#29 challenge of "Weathered Wood Grunge." I know this does not look like wood, but I did the technique to use for the love season! A fun and new group I have joined, Bella Creations, is having a "February Love Ticket" challenge and a sheet of these tickets can be found at Miss CutiePie! The Tin Man is also going in search of a heart and love at ARTchix Studio, The Cheerful Stamp Pad and Tag Tuesday.  And since The Wizard Of Oz is such a delightful childhood memory, we are off to see the kind people at Simon Says Stamp and Show.

I stamped the image and also made a mask. I stamped it twice as I wanted to tear the sentiment, which is part of the image. I then stamped a third time, so I could emboss the heart shaped clock in red! I used both Copic and Stampin Up markers to color the image (I gave him greenish eyes) then masked the Tin Man and city off. I used distress inks and then misted and blotted the excess water. Oh I had to do all of this twice, because for whatever reason, the first time when I lifted off the mask the face got torn! If it can happen, I can do it! I then stamped the second sentiment to add below the heart! Silly me also punched out the tiny hearts, shaded and glued them down. I have no doubt that the Tin Man will not only find a heart, but plenty of love!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and your visits and comments are always so enjoyed!

CCC 25 - SSSS Something from Yesteryear, City Crafter's CCCB37 and Vicki's Life in Times Past.

This is my first post since before Christmas and it seems like so long ago!  We are on week 25 of the Compendium of Curiosities and Linda has us scribbling!!  Over my scribbling, I used a gears Cuttlebug embossing folder and highlighted it using a technique from the Technique Junkies.  I also added a few gear pieces.  Now since this is from a time in the past, I believe it also works quite well for Simon Says Stamp and Show's, "Yesteryear."  City Crafter has a "Stamp it Out" challenge and no digi's allowed for this one, so I am happy to play there also. Vicki's Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge is "Life in Times Past" and she is having a Unity stamp prize, so come play along!

I used three fabulous stamps from Scrolls Work.  Jules Verne, the inventor dude, I stamped and then masked and then stamped with the newsprint word stamp.  I of course distressed this a bit for a more "yesteryear" feel.  I felt something from the past was so appropriate for bringing in the new year!

Hope you are all well and happy.  I am looking forward to 2011 and wish you all a fantastic end to 2010 and beginning of 2011.

CCC#24, SSSS a Holiday Greeting, Vicki's Here Comes Santa!

CCC#24 is being hit with a Brick Wall out of the new issue of the Technique Junkies newsletter. Linda has us playing with Rock Candy Stickles and I think we are probably all loving it. It is not very easy to capture in a photo all of the subtle sparkle. I think I have mentioned before how amazing Linda is to devote so much of her time taking us on a new adventure every week! Ok, well every two weeks during the Holidays, which is just fine with me! Thanks again Linda, you rock there candy girl! Simon Says Stamp and Show wants a Holiday Greeting and that is sure easy enough! Vicki's challenge is Twas the Night Before ... & Here Comes Santa and there is a prize, so add your link for a chance to win!  We are also linking this up to the Artist Stamper for the Christmas challenge.
The Santa and snowflake images are Stampin Up. I used these free Christmas printable tickets from Miss CutiePie. Cut each one out and shaded around the edges and layered on cardstock, then cut with my new Tim Holtz Tag die. My grout lines are gold embossed. Added a few gems and goodies along the way.

Your visits and comments are always appreciated, especially this time of year when we are all so busy! Have a wonderful rest of the week!

CCC#23. GC80, Vicki's - Deck the Halls!

Three times a charm today, as we are visiting three challenges. Vicki at the Cheerful Stamp Pad has us "Decking the Halls" and I think the ribbon trim, the Gingerbread Boy and the hanging bells fall right into that category. At Gingersnap Creations, we are playing with vintage hues and I think we have used more or less vintage Christmas colors. Last and certainly not least is the weekly challenge at Studio L3 and we are "double distressing." Nothing is more fun than playing with distress inks and grunge paper! Linda has taken us on 23 weeks of adventure and fun! Hard to believe we are almost through the book!

The sentiment and Gingerbread Boy are from Scrolls Work Stamps. I colored grunge paper to give off a gingerbread color, then white embossed, cut him out and added some Holly stickles for trim. Merry Christmas was also embossed and cut with deckled scissors and shaded. The background is of course from Tim Holtz texture fades and was double distressed.

Well over the long Thanksgiving weekend, my DH insisted I get a new computer and I am working back and forth between the 10 year old bomb and the new headache. Most is ok with the new addition, but the font style and size are off. With time this shall be conquered - I hope! So what did all of you do in the states or not in the states? Hope whatever it was, it was wonderful!

Thanks so much for visiting and commenting. It is taking me a little longer to go through e-mails and blogs with the Thanksgiving weekend and the new toy, but I am trying to visit as quickly as possible. Have a great day!
