Sunday Spotlight

Hello my lovely Teddy Bo friends

It´s time for another Sunday Spotlight and today we showcase the adorable creations of Marijke

That is what Marijke tell us about herself and her creativity

my name is marijke van der heiden -engering
my age is 58  and live in a town names Schiedam in the Netherlands
married to mari  for 38 years now and still very happy together , well I am, I think he is too hahahaha

we have two wonderfull kids who both have their own lifes now, a son who is married and has two children a boy and a girl and a daughter who lives with her boyfriend for a few years now ( no wedding plans hahaha)

in our house are two cats , Gizmo and Sammie, my biggest fans if I am in my hobby room , love to help me with the ribbons and pieces of paper hahaha

I really got addicted to scrapping  , it all happened a few years ago when my sister was here for a sad reason, our father had died and when she stayed here in our house for a few of days she told me all about scrapbooking and that was the beginning of it all

before that I already had made all kinds of cards but also made dolls and did a lot of embroidering specially the american patterns, the angels, now that I think of it  just as far as I can remember I always made things from kindergarten till now, even have been a hairdresser for several years way back in the past so that was also working with my hands creating things ;0)

my hobby is like therapy for me , have had some health problems  in 2003 nd in 2008 ( doing very fine now ) but it kept me going , I am not a person that can sit still reading books my hands have to be working , doing and making things  so when I had the two strokes my hobby  kept me going working on my hand nd head with a lot of help of the therapist and now everything is back to normal again, for a few years now to be honest, thats why I Love angels they were watching over me both times

can't imagine a life without my hobby

greetings from the netherlands
marijke

Another Week Another Thursday It's....................

I really don't know where the weeks are going - at this rate it'll soon be time for the "C" word and I don't mean camel!!!???!!!
With that in mind we have a fantastic tutorial which you could use to make a relatively inexpensive gift look worth a fortune by our very own Jill.

******************************************************************************

Good morning friends!
Today I will show you how I do my bookcards.
It is a perfect gift with some chocolate or maybe crafting stuff
for one of your friends for Christmas!
I got a bookcard from Helle for my birthday and I measured it up to find out how she did it, and now I just love doing them!

You need:
Scoreboard
Cutting surface
Glue (I use my ATG)
Glossy accents for gluing the booksides (or similar)

Image, I used TEDDYBO_146 from Teddy Bo & CO, found here
Bazzill for the cardbase
Designer papers - I used Lost and found 6x6 paperpad from My minds eye
Aquarellpapers for the booksides, mine is 180gr.
Ribbons, lace
Embellishments. pearls, flowers,gems, bling or whatever your heart desires!

First you have to do is to make the booksides:
You need to cut from the aquarellpaper:
2 pieces of 4" x 9 2/4"
2 pieces of 5" x 9 2/4"
And then you score every 1/2" on all four papers.
Now it looks like this:
If you like an old look to it,distress all the edges with distress ink, I used Frayed Burlap
This picture shows all four sides and my base
Now you glue the sides together :)
Start with one short and one long and put it together in the end.
I found out this was the most easy way doing it.
Work it together and glue only at the ends.
It is important that you see that it is straight before you put on the glue!

For the base of the bookcard
you need cardstock that measures 5 1/2" x 9 1/2"
and you score at 4 1/4" and 5 1/4"
You see it under the booksides on my pics...

Cut all your layers and glue it on the base, on the inside first
and then glue the booksides to the base.

Before you layer the outside with your designer paper, remember to glue in the ribbon as it is to close the book...
  Now you just embellish your bookcard any way you want!
This is how mine turned out:

Front
Side
Back
And the inside :)
If anyone is interested, the Copics I have used:
Teddy Bo: E44-43-42-40, R20
Clothes: R59-46-29
W5-3-1-0
YG95-93-91
White shirt: E81-W0-Blender0
Shadows around: W5-3-1-0 and YG93-91

  Hopefully you didn't fall asleep with all those pictures :)

Hope you will try out my tutorial and we will love to see what you come up with.
If you show us your homework using my tutorial Gayle will send you a free graphic!
How great is that!
Have a nice day and happy crafting :)
Hugs, Jill

Yum Yum Yum

There are still a few days to enter our Clean and Simple challenge we've had some marvellous entries so far. Don't be frightened of entering if you think your card is too fancy - we struggled with leaving things off as well.

Have a great week!

Wordy Wednesday

Good morning and welcome to another Wordy Wednesday. This week we are going to look at some quotes about 'Children and Childhood'.
It's no secret that as we grow older some of the wonder and magic of all that surrounds us fades with the pressures of life and the business of each day. There's nothing quite like looking at the world through the eyes of a child. Some of the quotes are funny, some thought provoking, some tongue-in-cheek and I selected just a few of my favourites. I hope you find one that triggers that forgotten wonder if only for a moment.

'Kids: they dance before they learn there is anything that isn't music' ~ William Stafford

'Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man.' ~ Rabindranath Tagore

'Boy, n. : a noise with dirt on it.' ~ Not Your Average Dictionary

'Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.' ~ George Bernard Shaw

'Children seldom misquote. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.' ~Author Unknown

'While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about' ~ Angela Schwindt

'A child seldom needs a good talking to as a good listening to.'~ Robert Brault

'A rose can say I love you,
orchids can enthrall,
but a weed bouquet in a chubby fist,
yes, that says it all.' ~ Author Unknown

'Having a two-year-old is like having a blender that you don't have the top for.' ~ Jerry Seinfeld

'There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.' ~ Walt Streightiff

'If you haven't time to respond to a tug at your pants leg, your schedule is too crowded.' ~ Robert Brault

'A little girl is sugar and spice and everything nice - especially when she's taking a nap.' ~ Author Unknown

'There was never a child so lovely but his mother was glad to get him to sleep.' ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thank you for joining us today. Have a good one!

It's Thursday so it's Time For............................

Thank you for sharing your bookmarks last week. It's always great to nip over and see what you're making with our little furry friends.
This week we have a brilliant altered item tutorial from Edna. you'll be glad to see that she recovered admirably from "The Wedding" !!!???!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi and welcome to Top Tips Thursday. We are going to alter a clipboard this week and I've kept the instructions short and sweet as I think a picture says a lot more. :)
I've chosen a Woodware A5 clipboard and the ready-coloured Teddy Bea image 122. This is the finished article. Let's get started!
You will need :-
1 A5 size clipboard
Teddybo image
Designer papers - I used First Edition's Bird song
Trim
Seam binding
Post It or sticky notes
Marianne Chinese rose die; leaves set
Spellbinders labels 22 and oval nesties
White acrylic paint - I used Aleene's
I have placed the instructions from here on in the picture so I hope you can follow it alright. :)
I hope you have a lot of fun decorating your clipboard. We would love to see what you make this week. Thank you for joining us!
Edna x
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That looks like a great idea but as I have the decorators in at the moment am really fed up with the sight (and smell) of white paint so may use another colour instead.
We would love to see what you create and if you do decide to hand in your homework using the linky thing below and use a Teddy Bo image you will receive a cute little furry one for free.

Have a fantastic week!
Hugs
Debbie xx
