At the beach

Over here it is most definitely the season to go to the beach and that is just what I intend doing in the weeks to follow! My entry for Three Muses 'tis the season challenge . . . . . . one day I hope to experience a white Christmas, but for now it is sun, sand and sea!

A collection of roses

I know it probably doesn't look that way, but this was one of those designs that took me nearly half a day to finish, due to all the detail cutting of the roses, but it was so worth it - I am so pleased with the result. The flourish is from a vintage music sheet cover -  my entry for the flourish challenge at Theme Thursday.

Daffodils

I am always so excited to see the first daffodil bloom in my garden and in the words of William Wordsworth - "then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances with the daffodils" So when I saw the Spring challenge at Theme Thursday, my first thought was daffodils. The daffodil image is a black and white drawing from Graphics Fairy - I just love to experiment with various techniques to add colour to these drawings.

Friday freebie - Peppercorn vine

Did you know that in the Middle Ages and Tudor times, pepper was so expensive - it was actually used as a form of currency. Click here for your free copy of the peppercorn vine.

Friday freebie - Medicine label

My friend Andrea scanned this image from a Dutch medicine tin that she inherited from her grandmother. I  cleaned it up a little, it had a few scratches - and made this label. Here is the translation for those of you who do not speak Dutch:  "Medicine for Ostrich, Horses, Cattle, Sheep etc. Sold by all traders" Click here for your free copy of the label. Have a great weekend!

A pumpkin in the cage . . . .

. . . .  is worth two on the vine ;-)  I really don't have a fitting title or story for this one, except that I've had this image in my head for quite some time and had to get it out! In retrospect I could have used a crow on the cage to give it more of a halloween feel maybe? Linking to Brag Monday -  the beautiful postard, the cage and the pumpkin are courtesy of the wonderful Graphics Fairy!

Eyespresso

Let me see, where did the inspiration for this design come from . . . maybe it is the espressos, macchiatos, cappuccinos and lattes that appear on my desk while I am working. In my eyes (excuse the pun) - my husband is a barista of note and he really spoils me with his creations. I had so much fun with this Three Muse's challenge - eyes. Cafedomancy is the art of reading the future in coffee grounds, which goes back to the earliest days of coffee drinking.

Yellow bird

I love this lemony yellow paired with the soft pink of the roses, and this cute little birdie deserved a golden crown! According to the experts - yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts.
Hope you have a happy yellow day!
