Emma's First Day of Kindergarten!

I can not believe that my oldest daughter is old enough to go to kindergarten!  It still doesn't seem that real to me.  The elementary school that Emma attends is on a year round schedule so they start nice and early.  Her first day of school was August 4th.  She was so excited and a little nervous to start.  She was put in the morning class and was a little worried about my ability to wake her up early enough for her to get to school on time. On the first day, she was so excited she woke up on her own at about 6:30.  For the rest of the days, we bought her a new alarm clock to wake her up so she doesn't have to rely on her sleepy mother.

We walked her to school on her first day, but Todd usually drops her off at school on his way to work.  She met one of the girls in her class, Lindsay, and they both seemed to be a little nervous.  They felt like holding hands while they were walking in would make them feel better!

I only cried two tears as she walked away into the school building.  I know she will love school so that makes it a little easier for her to leave me every day.  Luckily it is only for half a day right now, we won't walk about her being gone all day next year!

After school, my mom came over to give Emma a first day of school treat!  Emma was excited to tell everyone all about the first day and seems to be enjoying school and her teacher so far.

Happy First Day of School, Emma!  We love you!

Timp Half

The boys in my family all ran the Timp Half Marathon again this year.  Tally's brother-in-law, Brad Toone also ran with them.  We were excited to watch them all finish.  Everyone did great.  Todd had his best finish yet.  He finished in 1 hour and 26 minutes.  He was the 25th overall finisher and the 4th in his age group.  We were so proud of him, even if he couldn't walk down the stairs for a few days after.

Todd keeps thinking that he will get me to run one again but I think that I prefer being a spectator for this event instead of a participant!

July Wrap Up

Here are the rest of our July happenings!

We spent alot of our evenings at the park when it was semi cool enough to be outside.  Miley just liked to carry her backpack everywhere. Also, we have to bring the wagon with us every time and every time no children ride in it.  They just like to take turns pushing/pulling it.

We thought this picture of Miley and Katelyn trying to help with the dishes was the best.  The stool wasn't quite tall enough for them to reach the bubbles so they took matters into their own hands.

We went for alot of bike rides.  On this particular ride Todd wanted to pull everyone behind his bike.  He either wanted a better work out or didn't think I could make it up the big hill in front of the temple. They looked pretty funny.

Emma got to go take her final assessment for Upstart, the online preschool she was doing last year, and they had a little graduation for the kids as well. We were really impressed with this program and everything that Emma learned from it!

We went to the Farm at Thanksgiving point and Emma and Katelyn surprised me and actually wanted to ride the ponies.

The library was another place that we went often to try and get out of the house but not have to brave the heat.  Being pregnant in the summer is not for me, it is too hot!

The zoo stayed open late one night for members so we took advantage and went with Leslie, Doug, Molly, and Claire.  Of course I didn't take any pictures of the actual animals but all of the girls really  liked the dinosaur exhibit they have right now.  And as usual, the train and merry-go-round were crowd pleasers.

Katelyn and I were playing hide and seek one day and this was the hiding spot she came up with.  I was actually pretty impressed with it besides the fact that it was in the middle of the hallway.  When Todd came home I had her hide like this in her room and it actually took a while for him to find her.  This is a big improvement on some of her previous hiding places.

Todd and I were able to go to his company summer party at the Montage Resort up in Deer Valley.  It was fun to get away for a delicious dinner, s'mores bar, and games.  Any time I get to spend with Todd is a good time!

And that wraps up July!  It was hot, busy, and fun!

24th of July

The 24th of July was fun this year.  We were a little bummed that Todd didn't get the day off of work but that didn't stop us from having a good day.

The girls and I went up to my parent's cabin with my Mom, Kimberly, Jace, Spencer, Jeffrey, Brooke and Graham.  We had a yummy lunch, played games, and went for a walk.

Miley was really excited that she got to take a creamy on our walk.

And then she was less than excited when she was all done with it.  She is a funny girl sometimes.

We left the cabin around 5:00 to pick Todd up and then head to his parents house for a BBQ and sleepover.

These cute cousins were all born within 9 months of each other so I am sure they will be great friends and cause all sorts of trouble.

We played some pioneer games after dinner.  I thought that Emma and Kenzie were really funny to watch together during this game!

When it got dark the little kids watched a movie on a projector outside and then were excited to sleep in a tent.  Miley and I opted to sleep inside where their were beds.

Todd and Kyle went for a long run in the morning while the rest of us played and had breakfast.  Then we all packed up and went home.  It was a busy and fun day!

Miley decided that she didn't need pants as long as she had her new bee backpack and her blanket.

8th Anniversary

On July 19th, Todd and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary.  Our real anniversary celebration was going to Hawaii earlier in June but we were still able to sneak away for a little bit on the night of the 18th to celebrate.

We went to the temple and then to dinner at my favorite restaurant, Ruby River.  Which admittedly, is only my favorite because I really like their potatoes.

On the morning of our anniversary we were just about to head out the door to church when our little guy gave us a little scare. Todd and I had his brother Kyle take the girls to church while we spent the morning at the hospital.  Thankfully, everything ended up being fine and I was sent home after a few hours with instructions to just take it easy for a few days.

Later that evening we headed up to my parents cabin to have dinner with my family.  The girls are starting to really enjoy exploring outside there.  It is fun to watch them all play together.

I love the chance that we get each year to remember the day that we were married!  I love Todd so much.  He truly is my very best friend and I would be lost without him.  He does so much for our little family and is always putting our needs in front of his.  I am so glad I get to be with him forever!
