Hi everyone! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and Black Friday (for those in the US). I apologize that I didn't have FO Friday up. To be honest, my days got all messed up and forgot it was Friday with the holiday and I had family in town. I promise the post will be up this Friday and I'll actually have an FO to share!
I'm plugging along on the project you saw last week, but not too much so I didn't take a picture of it. I'm dividing my time between two Christmas presents so each gradually grows. This is my first time using Knit Picks Dishie yarn, a 100% cotton, and I will say, it's so much better than Sugar or Peach n Cream. My hands don't hurt while knitting (or at least as bad) and the yarn is just a lot silkier. The stitch definition isn't great, but when is it ever with cotton? I'll be using this yarn for one more project coming up. :)
This is a new project to the blog I believe. I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering in Poppyseed. This is a fingerless glove I'm making for my husband (hopefully he isn't reading this). He takes the train to and from work, and his commute is long. I thought he could use these waiting for the train in the morning and night this winter. Funny enough, I was at knit group last night working on this as he texted he was freezing waiting for the train. We all had a good laugh. If he only knew. ;) This is Dustland Mitts by Stephen West and it's a very fast and fun pattern. I've only really worked on it a few hours and I'm almost finished with one mitt/fingerless glove! I only have the thumb left! It's pretty baggy on me, so I hope it fits! (Sorry for the bad picture!)
That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of the week and I'll "see" you here on Friday!

Work in Progress Wednesday 123
Hi everyone. Thank you for all the well wishes on Friday. I was out of sorts last week and everything is okay now, but all your nice comments helped. :) This week we've had great weather has it's been cold enough to wear the hand knits and storming. I love being inside when it's cold and rainy!
As far as WIPW, I can't take a picture of my progress on my husband's socks, as he's been home sick all day. He still doesn't know I'm working on the socks (or at least I don't think he does) so I don't want to spoil the surprise by taking them out for a pic. I hope you understand!
Here's my progress on the glove! It's slow going since I've been exclusively working on the socks in hopes to finish them by Christmas. I do hope to finish this glove as soon as the socks are done though!
I'm a huge fan of Slipped Stitch Studios knit bags and so when I heard about her Doctor Who Bag of the Month I had to get it. I don't think I've showed it to you yet, but this is the large one (it also came with a sock bag size). The amazing thing about this? It fits my big 17" snap frame for my cross stitch, my box with all my stitching supplies and my pattern with room to spare! Amazing right??!! It's a great way to carry around and to be able to stitch at any time. :)
Speaking of stitching, here is my progress. As you can see I'm on day 15. I'll show you more details later on, maybe this Friday! I've finished a LOT of squares you have yet to see. Despite being behind on this, I love it so much and adore cross stitching! YAY!
That's it for me today. I hope you have a great day and rest of the week.

Work in Progress Wednesday 122
Happy hump day everyone! I hope you're having a great Wednesday, or it looks like your Wednesday will shape up to be a good one. It's slow and steady over here in Tami land, which is how I like it! I've been knitting and cross stitching the past few days, but wanted to share my knitting progress today.
My WIP pile is ridiculously huge, so I decided to pull out one that you haven't seen in a LONG time! Why haven't you seen it? You may remember that I broke my needle tip on these gloves like 6+ months ago! I found them in the move (or found the project bag that contained them!) and went to work again. Now I have another set of needles and thought it was time to finish these now that the weather is HOPEFULLY turning cold here. The pattern is Treads and I'm using Tosh Vintage in Baltic (the yarn is gorgeous!) I should have these done SOON, but I'm not making any promises! ;)
As you can see on my second WIP that I'm currently knitting, I'm almost finished here too! I'm just starting to toe decrease on my husband's first sock. I'm making these for Christmas, and so I better get a move on! I've been comparing it to the sock that I made him awhile ago, but it's hard since the ones already made are a little stretched out and felted. I'm not using a pattern, but just making it 2x2 rib on the cuff and on the in step with a garter ridge lined Eye of the Partridge heel (my favorite!). Hopefully they'll fit! I'm using Candy Skein November '12 colorway, Pumpkin Pie!
That's it for me today. I hope you have a great day and rest of your week! See you Friday!

Work in Progress Wednesday 121
Happy Work in Progress Wednesday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was a little less eventful than we thought it would be unfortunately. We had a great Saturday running errands, putting up Christmas lights and hanging around the house. We decided to have a date night Saturday night and got dressed up to eat and see a movie. The meal was good, but about 45 minutes after eating (and already sitting in the movie theater to see Wreck It Ralph), I started to feel sick. We had to leave the movies (luckily we got a refund since we probably only saw 20 minutes of the movies if that) and I was VERY sick all night. I think food poisoning got the best of me. :( I'm doing good now, but it kind of foiled our Sunday plans. We were supposed to rent a large truck to move the remaining items from the old house to the new. That will have to wait until this weekend. The good news of it all was we had a relaxing Sunday at home, watching movies, knitting and cross stitching.
I have my Quarker Ridge shawl blocking in the studio right now, so I'll be sharing that with you on FO Friday! I can't wait.
For those of you who follow me on Instagram, I apologize as you'll be seeing a few of the same pictures here this week. I just got so excited to start the Rock and Purl Winter Mystery Glove KAL that I wanted to share my progress. You can still sign up for the KAL, as we just started and are on clue 1. Candy Skein is the main sponsor for the KAL, but you can use any fingering weight yarn if you are stash busting for the holidays. The great thing is, Ruth, the designer, has planned it so by the end you should have a pair of gloves for a gift for the holidays (or to keep yourself!) She has a Ravelry group so you can work on the gloves with others and see their progress!
This is clue 1 that came out on Monday for one glove. I haven't decided if I want to just work on the one, or if I should try and split the ball into two and work on the other at the same time (using two separate needles since my cable isn't long enough to do two at a time). Right now I'm just waiting for next week's clue, so if I did split the ball into two, I could actually have both started through clue 1 by the time clue 2 comes out. I don't have two sets of these brand needles, but do you think that's a big deal? Might gauge might be a LITTLE off with a different brand, but as long as they're the same size, could it really make a huge different? Anyway, I'm using Candy Skein Yummy fingering in January '12 colorway, Arctic Mint.
I've also been working on my cross stitch! I have a few more finished from the last time you saw it, but I'll keep that picture for my FOs on Friday. I finished days 1-5 and decided since I had to move the canvas over to do day 5, that I'd just jump down and do day 10 and work in a zig zag pattern. I wanted to share this with you because I thought it was pretty funny. It currently looks like I'm stitching Mickey Mouse's pants but I promise you, I'm not! I have to say, I LOVE cross stitching! It's so fun. I just love to see the pictures appear and it's great for when you're watching tv or a movie!
That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of your week and I'll see you on Friday!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 86
Now to the knitting:
See that? I broke the tip on my ONLY size 5 needles. I'm having to knit with one tipless one. :( How sad and ghetto is that!? I'm still hoping to finish the gloves in time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the one already finished. I did some mods to the pattern, which I'll mention on Friday (or when I finish them).
I also shared the April colorway yesterday, so please check it out! I'm very excited/proud of this one, as it is one of my favorite colorways so far!
That's it for me today! Have a great rest of the week and until Friday, happy knitting!

FO Friday 79
Hey everyone! Happy Friday and happy Hunger Games day! I have to say, I sure hope I get to see the movie this weekend, but I hate super full movie theaters now a days. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that we can get in and it's not too insane. Are any of you huge Hunger Games fans? I've loved the series since the week the first book came out in 2008. In fact, I haven't read The Hunger Games since the first week it came out, so a few days ago I started to read it again! I have to admit, it's just as good, if not BETTER the second time around. It's been so long and I've read so many books in between that I forget what happens from scene to scene. I'm just as excited and nervous for Katniss! I have to admit. All of the hype is making me nervous. I hope the movie doesn't ruin the books for me (a la Twilight), as well as the hype.
You are probably wondering about knitting at this point, right? Especially if you don't know about the Hunger Games (if you don't know about it, do you live under a rock!?), or you don't care (if you haven't given it a chance, please do. It's amazing).
I was hoping to have one of the gloves done to show you today, but a little thing happened this evening (Thursday evening). I was doing one of the lateral braids and because this is tricky when you need to bring the knitted 2nd stitch forward to knit into the 1st stitch, I didn't think when I had to pull my needle forward hard. Now, I didn't realize at the time that my needle tip was stuck on a little bit of yarn...you guessed it. SNAP went the needle tip. It's my only size 5 needles and from my interchangeable acrylic set. The good news is, it's still semi usable. It took me awhile to realize it would be a LOT easier to switch the needles so that my left was the right and the right was the left, so that the only time I need to really use the dull end is when I'm casting off. I lost some time struggling before I made the switch, making it impossible to finish the glove. I promise next week, not only will I have ONE glove finished, but BOTH! It's supposed to be a little cool this weekend and the start of next week, so I need to quickly finish so I can wear them before it gets cold again.
That's it for me today. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 85
Now onto knitting related items.
I decided since this yarn was special to me, as it was one of the memento yarns I brought home from my trip, that I wanted it to be something that I would use often. I also wanted a little bit of a challenge, since my knitting hasn't been calling to me recently. In fact, besides the little bunny I made last Thursday, I hadn't knit since my crochet/knit group last Tuesday! Almost a week had gone by without picking anything up.
That's when I found Treads, a tipless glove pattern and knew my search was over. The pattern looked hard, yet something that wouldn't kill me or frustrate me. So far, it's been a great pattern. I've learned two new things so far! I learned the Lateral Braid, which is magic, and the Linen Ridge Stitch, which is really easy but looks awesome. I'm building the thumb gusset (first time I've done this as well, as my last gloves just had a hole for the thumb) right now and working my way up (or down depending how you look at it) to the fingers. I think if I take the pattern step by step, I shouldn't have too much trouble with them. I can't wait! These will be great, not only on cold days, but also in the mornings when I'm knitting or evenings walking the dog. I could see myself using them a ton! We'll see if I can get at least one finished for FO Friday. :)
That's it for me! Also a quick note. I have a few more sets of the Green Collection mini set if anyone is interested!

FO Friday 16
It's nice to be back home and participating in FO Friday instead of scheduling it way in advance. I have a few FOs to share, and hope to have even more next week! YAY! I've decided I want to most of the project I'm working on before starting something new (except for the purse I still have to make for Christmas of course).
Here are my FOs this week! Sorry for the dark pictures, but I finished 2 of the 3 projects tonight and it's crazy dark in my house right now, and the only light I have is very yellow. I hope to take better pics today with sunlight.
Here it is! The bamboo bar cloth I made for my husband for part of his Christmas gifts. If it wasn't going to get wet and washed all the time, I probably would block it, but it seems like there is no point since it would need to be blocked every time it is washed, correct? Anyway, I love how it turned out, and so did Kurt!
Materials used:
7 US needles
Lily's Sugar'n Cream (Sage)
Yarn needle
And another dishcloth/washcloth. LOL, are you tired of them yet? I love them because they are practical (I used the dragonfly one on our trip since I can't use hotel towels due to my crazy sensitive skin and it was AWESOME), there are so many great free patterns out there, I can practice my knitting with different techniques and they are quick small projects that I can finish pretty quickly. I really love the way this one turned out. I bought the yarn, as I mentioned previously, on a whim when I was ordering cotton on Cyber Monday from Joanns. I just thought it was pretty but had NO clue what to do with it until I saw this pattern. It was perfect!
Materials used:
8 US needles
Lily's Sugar'n Cream (Painted Desert)
Yarn needle
My fingerless gloves are finished! I love the second one, but am not crazy about the first one because I did it with a smaller needle and also bound it off tightly. I have some of my hand-dyed yarn left, so I may knit a third glove with the bigger needle like I did the second. The first one fits, they're just not as comfortable. That being said, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone who suggested a stretchier cast off. I used this one and it was AMAZING. It is such a great way to do it. Easy, yet very very stretchy. I'm stoked! Anyway, I'm going to call these done, and contemplate making the 3rd. I want to be happy and use them, you know? They I did use them to go out to dinner tonight, just because I wanted to try them out. :)
Materials used:
6 & 7 US needles
Lion's Brand Fisherman's Wool (Hand dyed- Berry)
Yarn needle

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 22
My life is passing me by. How is it another Wednesday? How is it 2011? Scary, isn't it? I don't have a ton of WIPs to show you (okay, I actually have 3, so that's something, right?) because I've been busy completing projects, which is a good thing I guess. I still have Christmas presents to finish and ship off. My sickness and vacation sure turned that upside down. I feel bad, but then again, we never seem to send gifts to my in-laws on time for some reason. It's so much easier when family lives close and you have the stress of having to give their gifts in person. In the end, it's the thought that counts, right? Who cares if it's a little late. Let's hope they don't. LOL
Another piece of news that I wanted to share. I got a message on Ravelry the other day, Lion Brand wanted to use my reindeer I made last year as one of the pictures on the pattern page for Ravelry! I was SOOOO excited (and still am), maybe a little more excited than that warranted, but LOOK! They used my picture as the second one, right below THEIRS! Cool, right? I always wondered how they picked the pictures for the front pages of patterns. Now I know!
Now on to WIPW 22:
First off, sorry for the crappy picture, but I worked a little on it at my crochet meetup, so I couldn't take the pic until tonight with no lighting! Yep, here's the corgi (even though it doesn't look like one yet)! I haven't done much to it, but still wanted to add it to my WIPs since I'm still working on it. It's coming along good, though not fast since I have to keep changing colors. Normally that doesn't slow me down as much, but it's so small, that it's hard to get my fingers in there to swap the yarn, etc. I hope to have this finished by the weekend so that we can package them up and send them off with the other gifts going to my in-laws in Illinois.

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 19
I'm going to keep this pretty short, as I've come down with the flu. :( I was on such a roll, had so much energy and then BOOM. I got sick on Monday afternoon. Definitely no fun. I hope you're all having a great week.
Here are this week's WIPs:

Weekend Fun
First off, I wanted to thank everyone for the amazing suggestions/ideas on what to work on for my next knitting project. You are all awesome and I knew you'd come through for me. I didn't want you to have to wait holding your breath (because really, who isn't? I mean, isn't the project I pick like the biggest thing ever...umm, yeah, I know. No one probably cares. LOL) until Wednesday, so I thought I would share with you what I decided.
I decided to work on something flat before jumping into the in the round train. Autumngeisha suggested the Waffle Stitch Fingerless Gloves. After looking at the pattern, I thought it was the perfect project to move onto. It was a new stitch that I had yet to use, but a quick and easy project. I also knew just the yarn to use. I decided to go with my kettle dyed (by me) Lion Brand Fisherman's wool that you can see here. Since it was a huge skein split up, I had no clue how much I had, but once I wound it into a ball, I realized that I would have enough for at least a pair of the fingerless gloves. Perfect! I started right away, despite Christmas looming (I know, how dumb can I be?). I'm happy to report, it's going great and I should be finished with the first gloves today! I don't want to share a picture, since WIPW is right around the corner, so you'll just have to wait. :p
That all being said, my next knitting project will be a hat in the round and I can't wait! I think I'll be using this pattern, because it looks pretty simple, but still cute. It might be the perfect project for this yarn or this one. What do you think?
On to my weekend fun!
My neighbor asked me to watch her cat this week, so she showed me where everything is, etc. When walking to the door, I saw a set of knitting needles. I couldn't believe it! I asked if she knit, and she pulled me back inside and showed me what she's working on (about three different projects), as well as ones she had recently finished. I had NO clue she knit, not at all. You could imagine my surprise! She was showing me a few different yarns (some very expensive...around $32 a skein) and it was all beautiful. She told me I could ask her any questions and she could help me out. I'm so excited to have someone close by that can help when needed. She didn't know about Ravelry, so I was sure to tell her about it and make sure she signed up.
Lastly, I was able to go to a LYS in a town about an hour and a half away from where I live. My husband needed to pick up a piece he had framed there (shipping was going to be insanely expensive, so it was much easier to make a trip out of it) and we decided to make it a day. We weren't able to leave yesterday until about 2 hours before the LYS closed, so we would definitely be cutting it close. Speaking of which, why do LYS close SO early on Sundays, if they're open at all? This one closed at 4pm, which I found a little odd, but then another one I also looked up in the area closed at the same time. If I owned a shop like that, I would stay open until at least 5pm, especially since they open at noon. So odd. Anyway, we made it in time, despite getting a little lost.
Since I'll be starting a yarn diet January 1st (more details to come in a later post), I had an idea of what I wanted to buy. I realized recently I don't have much chunky yarn, so to make sure I had enough to do a simple projects which may call for it, I wanted at least 2 skeins of something in that weight. I have also been dying to try Malabrigo, and from the store's website, I knew they sold it. Sure enough, not only did they carry Malabrigo, they carried Malabrigo Chunky! It fit both categories I was looking for in one swoop. Here is the colorway I chose. Isn't it pretty?

I continued to wander the store. I didn't want to buy too much, as I'm trying not to buy things for myself right now. Also, we'll be going on a trip up the coast of California between Christmas and New Year's and I knew we would be stopping at a few shops along the way. I was content with my Malabrigo Chunky...and then I saw this. Cascade Eco Duo. OH. MY. GOD. Now, I previously didn't think I really liked Cascade. I'd never used it, but the only lines I had come in contact with were crazy scratchy and I would never been able to use (like Cascade 220). This was different...WAY DIFFERENT. I couldn't stop hugging and petting it. I was instantly in love. My husband could see the gleam in my eye, and knew we would be coming home with at least one skein. Now, normally, when it's an impulse buy like this one, I buy one skein and call it good. But wait! What if I wanted to do a larger project with it, and I AM going on a yarn diet in about 2 weeks. What's another skein going to hurt, other than my bank account? You guessed it...I came home with 2 skeins of it. Here it is:

Amazing, no? I mean, it doesn't look like much, but if you could only feel it. I wish I could just sleep with it. LOL I think this is the first yarn I've felt this way. It's 70% undyed baby alpaca and 30% undyed Merino. Can't you just imagine the heavenly feel of it? Have any of you worked with it yet? The lady at the store mentioned it's one of Cascade's newer lines. I see a lot of this yarn in my future, and in fact, I think it's soft enough that once I start making sweaters, I would be able to wear it without any discomfort. I think this yarn will be calling my name until I made something from it.
So that was my weekend, how was yours?
