Crafty Girl

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - CRAFTY GIRL -

Hi there!

I am up at the Simple Stories blog with the last project for the 2017-2018 DT term, and i wanted to use one of my favorite collections, CRAFTY GIRL, to document a picture of my daughter and her passion for crafting!

It all started with this background created using Vicki Boutin's markers on a gessoed surface.  I love the subtle rainbow that it created for the background.

Next it was all about creating the focal point of this page - a large title -.  For this i used the Cut Shoppe's cut file, and used vellum and papers from the collection to back all the empty spaces.

This collection is packed with so many awesome stickers, chipboard stickers and die cuts, that i had to combined in clusters around the page.

Finally, I added the picture of my daughter to the page, and added another cluster of ephemera to bring the eye to the picture, and to emphasize the sentiment of  the page.     To finish the page, I trimmed the background, and adhere it to one of the papers from the collection.  Here is the final layout:

The lines of journal will be added once it comes back to me from Creativation.   Once you see this paper collection, you will also want it to be part of your projects, so check Crafty Girl from Simple Stories.

Take care!

Love to Craft

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  LOVE TO CRAFT  -

Hi there!

It is a new week, and we are getting close to the end of February.   The month of love is almost over, but before we close it up, i want to share with you all a new layout created for Scrapbook Nerd using the I Rather Be Crafting collection by Echo Park.

I started by creating a watercolor background using a few of my Prima Marketing watercolor palettes.   The shape was given based on the cut file ( by Paige Evans Silhouette collection) that will be placed on top of the watercolor.

I chose to only back small places in the cut file, as I wanted the background to serve as the color behind the cut.

There are so many stickers and small little details in the collection that work perfectly bundled as clusters at the corners of the picture.   The collection's stamp is perfect to add some sentiment to the page.

To create the title of the page, some of the letters were cut from one of the collection cut apart cards, and combine with the collection stickers.  A bit of foam adhesive just adds a bit of dimension and movement to this part of the page.   After a few lines of journal, and some ink splatters, here is the final page:

Just love how this page came together.   All the colors in the background shine through the cut out, but bring the picture forward!

Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd to find all the materials used in this page!   As always, i am around in case you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Amazing

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  AMAZING  -

Hello there!

As my reveal week for Scrapbook Nerd comes to a close!  I wanted to share this project created all about my baby!

One the new collections were revealed,  I made sure to order Jillibean Soup's Chit Chat Chowder just cause I wanted the little doggie die cut.   The image looks just like my baby, I even have a picture of him wearing my glasses, and the resemblance is quite impressive.

I wanted to incorporate a few of the patterns in the collection, so I created a cut file by just welding circles together.  I backed some of the circles with vellum, and the rest with all the colorful papers.

Once the background was glued in place, I layered papers and embellishment pieces from the collection.  I gotta find more of the doggie sticker somewhere, it is a must for me!!!

Repetition, repetition, repetition!  I simply love the doggie, and used it to create the title of this piece by adding it to one of the die cut pieces from the collection.  After adding some journal, here is the  final layout:

Getting the collection just because of the die cut, was one of the smartest decisions made.   The colors in the collection work beautifully to bring life to the page, and my baby looks just adorable.

If you would like to have a closer look at the collection, please visit Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used in this project, and throughout my reveal week.  Remember I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Happy Birthday "6"

Scrapbook Layout Created for Scrapbook Nerd  - HAPPY BIRTHDAY "6" -

Hello there!

This is my last reveal for the month for Scrapbook Nerd!,

We love our baby, and every September 1st, we celebrate his birthday with cake, and a small party.  This year, I was lucky to find Pink Paislee's Birthday Bash collection to document his 6th birthday.  Enjoy the video:

The cut file used for the project comes from the Silhouette Store.   I used a bit of hand stitching to add texture and secure all pieces in the layout.  All the materials come from the Birthday Bash collection by Pink Paislee, here are some close ups:

I added simple clusters around the picture, so that the created elements will not compete, but complement the layout.  Here is the completed project:

We love our baby, and just like the kids, he also has his own album filled with lovely memories of his life.

Don't forget to check Scrapbook Nerd to find all the materials used in this layout.   Remember you can always contact me with any question on how this came together.

Take care!

Bold Layout Series #1 : Wild About You

Scrapbook Layout  - WILD ABOUT YOU -

Hello everyone,

As I start to close another chapter in our lives.  I have spent the last days looking back at pictures of my kids through the year, I am fascinated with how much they have grown and changed.  So i decided to create a series to document them before their birthdays (both my teens are Christmas babies).  Since we consider our doggie as our baby, I decided to start this BOLD LAYOUT series with him.

Thankfully, this month i had the beautiful Clique Kits' Wonderland kit to play with, and I am amazed on how versatile it is (you definitely have to check it out).   I started this layout by cutting the bulls eye circles from the Cut Shoppe's May Mash Up cut file.   I halved the cut file, and backed with papers from the kit.  These were then layered under the 8.5x11 in picture of our baby.

I decided to create a cluster of ephemera on the top right corner of the picture, I just used exclusives from the kit, along with some Illustrated Faith tabbies and Jillibean Soup's wood veneers (this are all part of Clique Kits's Wonderland kit).

Since the cut file used circles, i am using this Amy Tangerine tag from Clique Kits' Swan Lake kit (November 2016) to create the title of this layout.  Once again, I layer circle pieces from the ephemera pack, and tabbies that were included on this month's Wonderland kit.   Since there was  a lot of white space right under my baby's face, in the picture, i used a fine tip sharpie to write all the journal lines on the picture.  Here is the final layout:

If you follow my work, you know  i don't use large pictures, but i am glad i worked this for my 3 kids.  They will be the perfect ending to this year's scrapbook album.  I have finished all the layouts already, using one single kit, and will be posting them by the end of the week (i have a few assignments coming throughout the week).  So be sure to check back on the weekend to see how I used Clique Kits's Wonderland kit  in the layouts.

Thanks for visiting today!

Hello!,

It is almost the end of my reveal week at Scrapbook Nerd.  This month I used a lot of different products for my projects,  but I was most excited about Fancy Pants's Golden Days collection.  I love how it matches perfect to the fall colors i so much love.

The background was created using the Retro Rounded Corners cut file from the Cut Shoppe, I simply backed the small spaces with papers from the collection, glued them to the page, and use the sewing machine to secure them to the layout.

A close up to the cut-outs in the layout

I kept the clusters around the picture very simple, as i just wanted to complement the picture.  For the title, I pulled a leatherette badge from Pink Paislee's Outfitters collection.   After a few ink splatters, and some journaling, the page was finished.  Here is the completed page:

This layout was put together in very little time,  here is a small video showing how it was build:

I hope you enjoyed the video, and find inspiration on how the page was built.  You can check all the material used at Scrapbook Nerd (the nerds are super nice!).  Let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Card sketch for Scrapbook Nerd's Creative Summer Camp 2016

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are enjoying the weekend.  It is a long weekend here in Toronto, since we are celebrating Canada's Day on July 1st.   WIth all this time available, I have been putting it to good use working on my assigments for August, and joining in the challenges over at http://scrapbooknerd.com/ creative On-line summer camp.

The first challenge was to create a layout following a given sketch.  I chose to follow the card sketch by creating a mixed media background.

Using the new Everyday Essentials cut file from  The Cut Shoppe,  I cut different size circles and backed the cut out using papers from Pink Paislee's Fancy Free collection.  They were attached to the page following the direction of the sketch.

I did not deviate much from the sketch, and added my picture, title and ephemera cluster in the place were the sentiment would have been located.

I added a few more details, date and journal lines before calling the page finished.   Here is the completed layout.

I really like how the page turned out, and how easy it came together once I followed the sketch.

IF you want more information on the On-line Creative Summer Camp, follow this link Scrapbook Nerd ;  all information is on the forum, and in their friends and family page on Facebook

Till next time,

Happy craftin'!!
