My Geeky Side

Good afternoon. I'm letting my geeky side out in this post :P

Two weeks ago I finally started reading Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. I bought it about 6 years ago after it won the Richard and Judy Book Club Award. I'm only 200 pages in but I'm loving it. It's about two women, Alais and Alice (one in the 13th Century, the other in present day) in France and how they reveal the secrets of the Holy Grail.

So last week I decided to look on IMDB to see if anyone was working on an adaptation. Lo and behold there it was. Turns out it's being created right now as a TV mini series by the same companies who worked on Pillars Of The Earth (a great TV series based on Ken Follett's novel of the same name). Here's the site for it.

It stars Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter), John Hurt, Tony Curran and Emun Elliott (Marillion the singer in Game Of Thrones).

I'm getting so excited to see it. I read somewhere that Channel 4 in the UK have the rights to show it sometime this year. I'm sure it will be shown in other countries around the same time.

Here are the two Behind The Scenes videos:

Hope we get a trailer soon. This will definitely keep me going until Series 3 of Game Of Thrones next year!

What's New!

Hello everyone and Happy World Goth Day!

First of all I'd like to say a big thank you to Claire from Created and Felted for including my Fleur earrings in a blog post about her wedding pouches. I've put the link on the left so you can all have a look. They really are the cutest pouches :)

I've been working on a couple of ideas and new patterns this week, some of which are now finished while others are still a work in progress. I'm closer to working out the best way of creating my choker. I know this has been a long time coming but I promise you it will be worth it.

I've been thinking about new colour combinations for my jewellery. I recently bought dusky pink and chocolate brown balls and, having done a test piece, I think I might be using them together. The pink may even work with the black.

There are some other things in the pipeline but I think I'll talk about those at some other point.

Now on to my new listings:

The first piece I'd like to talk about is a new necklace design, well a reworking of one of my other designs. I decided to tat just over half of my Katherine piece and then created three more, joining them as I went. This is similar to my Helena necklace (that uses the Eleanor pattern). I included jet Swarovski Crystals (two bicone pendants and two faceted drops) around the central part. Below is the result. What do you think?

I'm thinking of doing this in other colours and maybe two colours together. Any suggestions? You can buy the piece here and in pounds here.

The next is a pair of earrings. I decided to create a black pair using my Fleur design:

These would work well with a goth outfit or an evening dress. Check them out here and for those of you in the UK here.

On a completely different note, did any of you in the UK see the last episode of Ashes To Ashes last night? I was in shock by the end. I don't think anyone could have worked out the twist. I was actually crying my eyes out after I had looked at the comments people were making on twitter. Don't worry, I wont give away the ending if you have yet to see it. It ties up all the loose ends nicely and was an amazing finale. I'm actually tempted to go back and watch it again.

Have a nice weekend,
Heather x

My weekend and experimental tatting

Good evening. I've had a busy few days. On Saturday I set about tatting up a gothic version of my Katarina pendant. Here it is. I managed to list it in the evening.

I also listed a bracelet. I used my pattern for the Elizabeth pendant and extended it. I think this design works well as a bracelet. I have listed it as custom fit. This saves me having to tat up bracelets of different sizes when I only need to tat them as needed. What do people think of these items? I shall be adding more bracelets to my shop soon.

Saturday evening I did a Saturday Night Special in my shop. I didn't receive any sales but it was fun nonetheless. I might be doing an SNS again but not for a bit.

I decided to have Sunday off from tatting and so my mum and I finished watching season 7 of 24. All I can say is WOW. I think this is my favourite season so far. It still manages to engage you emotionally in every episode. I can't wait to see season 8.

Today I've been experimenting with a different style of tatting. I've been trying inverted tatting. I'm thinkng of doing something with it but I won't say too much about it yet. It's still in the prototype stage. I may put some pictures up tomorrow.

This morning we caught a long-tailed field mouse. It's soo cute. They alway find their way into our house and start nibbling on the soap in the cupboard under the sink. I did take a few photos of it before we let it out into the wild and I shall be posting them tomorrow. I shall blog more then.
