Roosters and Flowers

Image
Alstroemeria, my favorite! Flowers from Shelby and kiddos for my birthday.   Found these glass pieces in the house. They were from a chandelier but will make fun candle holders. They are glued and waiting for a place.   Some flowers and plants for the windowsill. JWS informed me that all old ladies have windowsills that look like this. Painted some roosters.     And     Kamden was so excited when he found "this bird sitting on his nest"

Summer's Warriors

Image
They are the last... the last warriors to hang on. Clinging to that last little bit of sunshine, that last bright day. Almost drowned in fall's leaves, they persevere, giving us that last little bit of bright color, surviving freezing nights cuddled up to our home's warmth and  shielded from the frost  by Fall's debris.  They will soon be gone, blanketed in the beauty of winter,  sleeping, regenerating, waiting, for  Spring. I am going to miss them!

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

Image
What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

A Walk in the Yard

Image
Friday night and much of the day yesterday, were spent in the yard.  Mulching and weeding and cleaning up.  Black mulch this year,  Never thought I would like it,  but I think I do!  Rhododendrons in full bloom!  Shade plants Front planters,  that I am hoping don't flood out this year!  Under the kitchen window where I have officially given up trying to make it a kitchen garden.  Planted lilies and balloon flowers and  some other yellow  flower stuff that I can't remember the name of... Oh yes,  kept the chives and sage.   They are the only thing that grows well there.  Iris almost done. My only dahlia this year.  Nothing but perennials.  My late blooming lilac.  It blooms after all the other lilacs are done and honestly smells better than regular lilacs.  More perennials.  Eliminated a l...
