Flowers and Finds

Image
Apple Blossoms on the neighbor's tree. Double Tulips that are exceptionally nice this year. And... I have been cleaning up at yard sales lately! I have even managed to add a few more items to my etsy shop. Stop on over if you have a chance. https://www.etsy.com/shop/tolentreasures?ref=search_shop_redirect   I am trying to add new items daily.   Canister set, that I have not decided if I am keeping it or not. The cake carrier to match. Vintage recipe box. I might just paint this. And these owls!  25 cents!    They promptly went on the wall in the camper  to cover a place that that trim was missing!   Stop on over, EllieJ is shaping up!   http://restoringavintagecamper.blogspot.com/2013/05/more-decor.html

Auction Night

Image
Last night was another auction at our local fairgrounds. The fair board sells the food at these auctions. Some of us spend way more than the fair board makes. Money in, money out. We sure have fun at them though! I saw this quilt come up for bid. Somehow, I had missed it in my early preview. Since we have to get food ready ahead of time, I manage to peruse the goods prior to the auction. Missed this! I did get it for what I thought was a good price. It looks like feed sack material. The stitching is really nice.   (Just as a side note, Blogger is being a little contemptible about loading pictures in order or at all. )     Also, scored this ice sign.  I missed that in the preview also. I have been looking for one of these for awhile and didn't want to pay the high $$$ that they were running.   There are more treasures in my car, it was raining when we came home and we were tired.   However...

Laundry Day

Image
We took a little ride on Monday to find an Amish canvas shop and soon realized that it was laundry day. I wish I could have got more pictures, but, JWS was going a little faster than I realized. Most of them were pretty blurry. And then, this is what we found. Yes, that does say, "Call at house 1-800-WHOA" Apparently, that is Amish humor. We snapped a few pics while we waited. Beehives on the ceiling. And how about this adding machine?   Finally, this week, I managed to finish the cushion covers for my camper dinette.   The procrastination was worse than the job.

Retro and Rugs

Image
As some of you know that have been following along... I have a new project. A 1967 camper trailer that I am "fixing up" You can follow along here I have been painting and cleaning and scrubbing and digging through my stuff for retro stuff. I found these afghans and washed them up this morning. Finished this rug for the camper. Finished the blue rug underneath and started the one on top for the "living room" of the camper. Here is the kitchen area, had to set it up for this photo.

Purchases of the day

Image
At the Salvation Army in Butler, Pa I found these fat quarters. All of these for $8! And these old bowling pins... they are wood. In this cigar box, $5.00 at Butler Antiques in Butler, PA. Also in that box was this glass egg. JWS says it was used to put in with the chickens to get them to lay. There was also a freebie! You will have to visit here to see what that was!

Memorable Quotes of the Weekend

Image
The big accomplishment of the weekend was getting all of the open house stuff from the attic and pricing it.  My Open House is in less than two weeks. Usually, this happens the day before. How nice to have it all done. Logan's comment, "Gramma, what in the heck happened to our bedroom? and where are we going to sleep?"  He must have thought  this was permanent. Sunday had us on a hayride. A little cold but what fun! Tyler's comment of the weekend. "I have not been on a hayride like this since 1955!" Wyatt was not a big fan of sitting still, but managed to endure his first hayride! Logan and Kendall loved it! Logan picked one of the the biggest pumpkins in the patch! My camera went dead at this point. The kids all made these t-shirts. We printed a white design on white t-shirts, hung them on the clothesline and the kids sprayed them with dye. When they sprayed them, the design sh...

Back in Business

Image
Several months ago, JWS and I acquired a camper. I started a blog to document the restoration. http://restoringavintagecamper.blogspot.com/2012/10/trying-again.html But it turned out, the camper was not salvageable and had to meet it's untimely or timely depending on who is looking it at, demise. So, another camper has surfaced and we are trying again. Stop over and follow along! This one is staying!
