Friendship Through Music...

This is the common 'theme' of fife and drum I would say. Another HUGE part of musters is the jam session. Anyone from anywhere all come together and play common fife and drum tunes... hundreds of people...it's a pretty neat thing to see.

BUT -- jamming really doesn't have anything to do with my post today...but music does, and so does friendship!

Our Corps released a CD last month (c'mon, you know you want one...they're $15 -- e-mail or leave a comment here if you seriously are interested) and a few of my PSF's bought one. Sooooo, I needed to to make them a super special thank you card.

I ordered Wild West Anya in anticipation of making thank yous and even birthday cards for corps members, because she's PERFECT for it.

Here's my card.

Now...that SUPER cool ribbon frame?? Got that from Claire Brennan. She's got some brilliant stuff over on her blog. If you don't know her, you should ;) She's also got her own stamp line now -- I got her two Celtic sets that SOLD OUT - which is awesome, hoping to make something with them really soon.

Anya was colored in (with my Copics) to look like a little Regulator, down to the Sheriff's badge and all. The star with the sentiment (from Papertrey's Everyday Classics set) was cut using my star Nesties. Added a little sparkle with some christmas red stickles, and we were good to go.

Thanks for all the support friends!!

Supplies:

Ink: Memento Black
Paper: PTI True Black, Select White, SU! Basic Gray, brushed silver
Accessories: Star nestabilities, copics, pure poppy saddle stitched grosgrain, stardust pen

A Virtual Baby Shower...

So, I'm part of this group of friends on Splitcoaststampers...the PSFs. This stands for "Pretend Stamping Friends". This phrase was coined by Alexa, Lauren Meader's daughter a few years back...you can read that story here.

Anyway - we've been through a LOT together. Birthdays, weddings, pregnancies, funerals, surgeries, happy days, and sad days. This group of women is AMAZING, and I'm proud to be part of them. Whenever something is going on, we get together to help out, or to celebrate. I've been a recipient of their INCREDIBLE generosity in September 2007, just prior to the birth of my second daughter. They all made cards, and sent them off to one person. They made some for my older daughter too. Along with it were CRAZY generous gift cards, and the like. It was all bundled up and mailed to me...Brought me to tears.

WELL -- our very own Freshie pants Nicole is preggers now, and we wanted to shower her with cards and goodies as well. So here it is...her Virtual Baby shower...
I tried to take a photo with the pile of cards, but some were in envelopes, some were not, I just couldn't get it to work...

In that box that says 'For Baby K' is a onesie...here it is:

My friend Staci came up with the idea of the onesie...and I agreed to make it. I used the dark t-shirt iron on transfers...came out pretty good. The butterfly on the butt?? Well, that was from when a few of us met up for a stamping expo. Nicole had these cool jeans on with butterflies on the butt, and Lauren said the jeans (not her butt ;) ) inspired her to make a card...which you will see here. Then of course, the rest of the PSFs wanted to see the jeans, so Nicole had her hubby take a photo of them, and made it her avatar...well, we all made our avatar's Nicole's butterfly butt, but we each had our own color. This group certainly has a GREAT sense of humor. Nothing beats a good Happy Hour celebration, or sometimes even a middle of the day get out the sillies with them!

We also made sure we honored the big sisters, Kirsten and Kayla, they each got their own Purse-onality Clutch, and gift card too :)

Congratulations again Nicole!! Looking forward to meeting 'Baby K'!!! :)

Wishing you Well...

So - I mentioned that I know way too many people who have had surgery this week...so I'm on to my next get well card.

This one is for Lauren. She had her gallbladder out Friday - and my goodness, I hope she's feeling a bit better. I know Lauren mentioned in her post the other day about her abdomen being so sore, that she may no longer consider ever getting a tummy tuck. Lauren - I can tell you - a friend of mine had both procedures (she had gastric bypass surgery and lost 1/2 of herself (and then some)...literally!) and said if she knew what it would have felt like, she wouldn't have done it...she said the gallbladder was NOTHING in comparison.

I remember visiting her in the hospital with another friend and we made the mistake of making her laugh...I felt so bad.

Anyway - onto the card...
I used Papertrey's With Sympathy set, and the new anniversary set, Everyday Classics. I used the rock and roll technique for the flowers, starting with Summer Sunrise, then Berry Sorbet, and rolling the edges in Raspberry Fizz. Kept it simple and neat.

Wishing you well Lauren!! Hope you feel more like yourself today! {{{HUGS}}}

Thanks for stopping by today!!

A Mytime Sketch - Get Well Karyn!

My Goodness! I know ENTIRELY too many people that have had surgery this week!! I got some good solid stamping time in yesterday, and will have goodies to share over the next few days - woohoo :)

This first card is for my friend Karyn - she had surgery Monday - and though I would have liked to have been a little more 'on-time' with my card, I'm just happy I was able to get one out at all!! I'm in the Royal Family of Good Intentions, you know.

I needed a starting point yesterday, so I went to Lauren's blog - and checked out some of her Saturday sketches (do you see the cool new blinkie in my sidebar???) Love it :)

Anyway -- found this one from just 2 weeks ago. Mytimess27.

By the way - she had a challenge with this one -- have you sent a card to Ethan??

Here's my take on the sketch -- I'm so horrible - I usually work from what I 'remember' of a sketch, and inevitably leave something out (in this case, the little 'tabs' off of the main image) soooo OOPS.

But all in all, I'm pretty pleased with the way this turned out. I broke out my Pink Cat Studio stamps and got to work. Combined QT Hooty and Dress up Lily, and ta-dah!

The paper is from Piggy Tales, I don't recall which collection - Little Red Riding Hood maybe?? Images are colored with my copics...the icepack on Hooty's head got a little messy, but otherwise I thought it turned out ok. There is a little bit of crystal effects on the thermometer. Finished off with a red prima and some doodlebug bling...I love their bling...all those facets... so pretty!

Anyway - had a CRAZY busy birthday party day, so I'm pooped -- headed off to bed. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Supplies:
Stamps: Dress Up Lily, QT Hooty, Pink Cat Studios
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Piggy Tales Patterned Paper, PTI Lemon Tart, Pure Poppy, Select White
Accessories: Prima flower, Doodlebug jewel, crystal effects, copic markers

Dawn's Color Challenge and a treat for a friend...

Hi all ~ It's been a few days. I couldn't miss out on the last (I'm guessing) of the challenges for the PTI release. I have another post of the Valentine's I made, but I'll save that for tomorrow.

I picked one of the cards from THIS POST on Dawn's blog.

I can honestly say - I've 'known' Dawn for a while now...from the time when she very first met Nichole Heady, to today, when she is releasing her VERY OWN line of stamps for PTI... As a friend, I am SO proud of her!! We've never met face to face, but have known each other for YEARS on the computer - through SCS. What a sweetheart.

I remember a time not all that long ago, where she was looking into how to get published, and the like, and ZOOM! Her paper-crafting career TOOK OFF! After so many publications - to get asked to design for PTI - a total dream come true.

I've had so much fun along the journey with Dawn - and am so excited for the next chapter in her story to unfold. I wish her the best of luck - not that I think she needs it. Don't forget us little people when you're big and famous, k???

Love you girlie!

Oh - right - my card.
This will be sent to a friend (she knows who she is...IF she's looking) because I came across this yummy stuff in the background when I found a box of TS stuff that I had set off to the side for some reason. I'm a TS consultant - and had this left over....well, a friend of mine LOVES the stuff and the product was discontinued...and I didn't think I had any - and lo and behold - FOUND SOME!!!

I went with Dawn's clear embossing roll, using Spiral Boquet. I thought this was a super fresh color combo. I gave this a little oomph with some bling on the flowers, and some accents with my stardust pen.

Thanks for stopping by - and if you haven't already - stop by and congratulate Dawn, k?? :)
