Just Us Girls!

Well HEEEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO out there :)


I'm here today to talk about the 'Just Us Girls' challenges. 


The first challenge was last week -- a sketch.  Each week a different team member will host a challenge, and this week, Pam is the host on the 'Just Us Girls' blog, and here's the Challenge:

The 'girls' asked me to be a part of their team, and I'm proud to play along side this talented group of women.

Here's my card for this week's challenge:

The image and sentiments are from a set called 'Girls Night Out' by My Favorite Things.  Kim's sets are GREAT for paper piecing.  I used a few of the sentiments to make a patterned paper for the Berry Sorbet layer.  punched the bottom edge with my apron lace border punch, added some ribbon and a charm, and voila!  Cute and simple (well, except for the cutting for the paper piecing!)

With my hubby. We're going to a dinner party at a friend's house, and it'll be nice to have a little time to ourselves.

It's Saturday too -- time for another My Time to Create Challenge! This week is a color challenge, put together by my teammate Pam. Here's what she came up with:













Since our friends Sue & Mike are hosting, I thought I'd make them a little card, to go with the bucket of prepared Tastefully Simple Pomegranate Blueberry Martinis, and some DELICIOUS jam thumbprint cookies I'm making tomorrow.
















I've had this set from My Favorite Things for a WHILE now, with the intention to make 'Girls Night Out' invites -- but haven't had the time to HAVE a GNO. Sheesh! Hopefully soon. Having hardly any creative time this week -- thanks to the intermittent power outages, for seemingly no reason at all, I kept this clean and simple.

Note to self: Next time you tie a black bow -- use a colored background for your photo -- sorry about that folks!!

I added a few sparkly details, in the drinks -- I 'salted' the rim of the margarita, and added a cherry to the martini.

WHAT'S for dinner?!?!?!?!? and a Challenge

So a quick post tonight. Going with the theme of Christmas again. *wink* This was another part of SIL and BIL's gift.

With my husband's family, there are so many of us, we put family names into a hat and pull one family to buy for. It makes it a little easier money wise...SIL and BIL like the Outback (me too really) and so part of their gift is to have a date night with yummy food :)

I wanted to come up with a really clever GC holder and all that, but as it always does, Christmas arrived, and I had run out of time...so I tried to dress up what I had.

I have the 'Punny Farm' set from My Favorite Things, and thought 'hmmmm....I need to use that cow...' So I made 'bulging' eyes on the cow - and made a computer generated sentiment. Cute, right? I thought it is dressed it up a little - makes you giggle, and then onto the gift :)

Now - some other business I need to attend to. My cyber-friend Holly has issued me a challenge...kind of a fun one really.

The rules for this challenge are - Go to where you store your photos on your computer. Go to the SIXTH folder and pick the SIXTH photo. Post that photo on your blog along with a SHORT story about it. Tag SIX people and leave a comment on their blog or email them letting them know you chose them.

Being a rule follower (well MOST of the time anyway) I went into my photos, and came up with this one:

This is my older daughter - on New Year's Eve...also her 5th birthday. We had these balloons in my car the night before, and put them in her room after she went to sleep - so when she woke up in the morning - she knew it was a special day. The day didn't go entirely as planned due to some snow - but it worked out great, spent with family, and it was a LOT of fun for us all!

Alright - now to pass it on...I've got a friend who just started her blog yesterday, so I'm breaking her in right - let me throw a challenge her way...stop by Laura's blog and show her some love - she's AWESOME - and you'll love her as much as I do :)

Another 'oldie' but goodie...

I'm stuck in the middle of mass producing a bunch of invitations for a Christening, so all of my stamp time is being devoted to that (well, what little of it there is, anyway...there isn't much leftover being a full-time working mom of 2 and wife to 1 *wink*)

So, I figured I'd share this fun card I made for the Dare to get dirty challenges on Splitcoast back in July. This was Lauren Meader's challenge...Monochromatic

The main image is stamped on PTI's Linen vellum. The chair (the white part) was gone over from behind with my stylus, not only making the chair white, but giving it a nice 'fluffy' look to it too! I turned it back over, and went over the outlines of the flowers just to give it a little more dimension.

This is a great set by MFT, I said she modeled it after me, and thankfully she made me MUCH thinner ;) They've got some great challenges where you can win FREE STUFF over on their forum on SCS, you should stop by and check it out! Kim, the owner (who is awesome by the way) will occasionally run a 1 day special on a featured set - so be sure to check in over there...who doesn't like a sale, right?

Hey all -

Have you ever seen something in a store, and you think "WHY on Earth would I want that, or what would I do with that???" Yep - I have...in fact, I did it not too long ago, when I saw the new Martha Stewart Halloween craft stuff. So I kept right on walking...little did I know that I would come to *need* one of those things...BADLY.

So, fast forward a few weeks, and I've got this idea for my nieces and nephews for Halloween...and I thought... "ACK! I should have gotten that punch!!!!" So, I head back to M's to find out that they were ALL gone...yep, not the pumpkin one, or the fence one, but the very dripping goo border punch that I now NEEDED was SOLD OUT.

*sigh*

But then...I had an epiphany...I'd put my PSFs on the job...what's a PSF?? Why, it's a Pretend Stamping Friend! The name given to us by Lauren's daughter Alexa :)

So, I got my girls on the job, and literally, the NEXT day - Sandy located one for me, and is sending it my way...I'm so excited...THANKS SANDY!!

Sooooooo...this post isn't without purpose. I did make Sandy a card to thank her...since she got me a Halloween punch, I made her a "Halloweenish" (my word) thank you card...

The 'Thanks a Million' part of the sentiment is from MFTs "Essential Sentiments" and the 'Ghoulfriend' is from "Totally Witchin". (I used my marker to ink up the 'Ghoulfriend' I like how it came out a little blurry, kind of 'ghoulish', right?)

The flower is the newest colors of bridal confetti from M's (the leaves on the stem are a green one cut apart) The stem of the flower is actually the hoe handle from the "Can you Dig It?" set. Instead of a butterfly or a bee, I decided to add a bat flying around...he's actually ribbon I got from M's as well...they had bats and pumpkins...kind of fun...

Mytime's Saturday Sketch...and my first attempt with my Copics

So...my friend Lauren (mytime on SCS) posts a Sketch every Saturday for everyone to try...here's this week's sketch:















Well, I took some creative liberty....alright...a LOT of creative liberty, but only because I got to use my Copics for the first time, and I was pretty pleased with my coloring job, and wanted to use it... so I made it 'fit' the sketch!

I had gotten my new 'Totally Witchin'' stamps from My Favorite Things the same day.

No, I'm not ready for Halloween, but it's fun...and psst...this is actually a birthday card for a friend of mine...the original sentiment from MFT says "Hope your Halloween is..." I changed it to Day, by using a sentiment from the 'Essential Sentiments' set.

oh, right...onto the card...




Whaddya think? not SO bad, eh?? I still have LOTS to practice, but I thought it came out kinda cute...
