It's Those Red Flowers

Friday July 22/11

The red flowers are blooming now, the ones with the  long tubular petals, that the hummingbirds love.
Crocosmia.
This variety is pure red, despite the sinking sun reflecting on the petals and the camera picking it up as orange.  There's probably a way to correct that, but I can't be bothered to figure it out.

The bee balm is blooming too.

And now I'm going to be wasting a lot of time trying to get the perfect hummingbird shot.
It was a bit late yesterday when I was taking these, the light was going.  The darn tiny birds move so fast and so erratically... but they do stop sometimes.

Here's my first attempt.
Probably more to come.
