Plugging Away

I'm slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things.  Although I can fully use my right hand it gets sore if I do to much.  This will eventually go away.  I am having Carpal Tunnel done on my left hand next Monday the 10th.  Then I have to start all over again.

I finished sewing the rows of blocks for my Chain Reaction.

I love the jelly roll I used.  It is a Fig Tree fabric.  After my hand surgery I will sew the rows into a quilt top.  This is a project I started in 2014.

I'm trying to work on some of my older UFOs.

This is from a few years ago.  It's an APQ quilt along.  This is block #8.  Only 12 to go.

Another on going project.  This is a Cheri Payne pattern called Common Threads.

This is block #11.  It's the second for this block.  The first one was used in another quilt.

I've been getting the Sew Sampler Box from the FQ Shop since they started.  Each month I received a pattern for a block.  The last box I received contained the 12th block and setting instructions.

I decided to start it.  This block is 8" and the fabric I am using if from a fabric roll of Japanese fabric.  The theme is Alice in Wonderland.

I've been working on Sally Post block #14 I don't have anything to show you.   As I said earlier I can only work on my hand work for a short time before my hands start to hurt.  This is on hold till after my left hand surgery.

Summer is Finally Here!!!

The sun is shining and the temps are up...so is the humidity.

I have been working on my June "To Do" list.  I'm going to be 2 blocks short of what I planned to do.  But that is okay.

These are the 5 Log Cabin Bow Tie Blocks.  I've been working on this quilt for about 2 years.  I don't work on it too often.  I had 32 blocks made and now have 37.  Not sure how big I want to make the quilt but I know I need quite a few more.  So I will try and make at least 5 blocks a month.  Obviously I'm not in a big hurry...lol

Next...

I finished another APQ QAL Block.  Another 15 blocks to go.  Another slow but steady quilt.

I finished the binding on my Log Cabin quilt and it is now hanging up on the wall.

It looks so cute hanging in my living room.

I started working on a Season's Block of the Month by Pat Sloan a while ago.  I am such a great fan of her work.  I started this last year in April...and only finished the April block.

This is April's block.

This is the book the quilt is in.

This is the quilt.

This is May's block.

Now I need to get some more blocks prepped.  Hopefully I can get this one done by next year.

The only thing missing from my "To Do" list is some of my Common Threads blocks.  I have the appliqued block prepped.  But I still need to make a couple of pieced blocks.  I guess they will have to wait till next month.

Next month will be a slow sewing month.  Hoping to get away for a couple of weeks traveling.  But we'll see.

For now....thanks for stopping by and keep cool.  Enjoy your weekend.

May's "To Do" List

Is done......

1.  Disappearing 4 Patch

Once quilted this is going to my Grandson Brian's girlfriend who just graduated with a Nursing Degree.

2.  Work on Lori & Randy's QAL

 It is ready for quilting.

3.  Sugar Shack BOM

4.  Globetrotting BOM

5. Hip Chicks

6.  Country Threads BOM

7.  Quilt Doodles BOM

8.  Aurifil BOM

 9.  APQ QAL

I noticed when I was writing this post that I made an error on one of the blocks.  Can you pick it out.  I also was trying out a different sashing then the one in the original.

10.  Common Threads Series

Next month I hope to work on the next 4 blocks in the series.

I also finished the top for the "This and That" Mystery Monday quilt.  I haven't gotten a picture of it yet.  And I am working on the Pam Buda Market Day QAL.  Still need to do Fridays part.

So now I have some free time.  Tomorrow we are going to a Memorial Day Parade that my father-in-law will be in.  And I will have some time to sandwich some quilts and get some quilting done.

I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend and thank you for stopping by.

End of the Month

Last day of the month and I did well with my "To Do" list.

1.  I got my Shoo Fly Quilt top finished.
2.  I finished the Plaid Jacob's Ladder quilt top.
3.  I finished one side of the applique for my Lori and Randy QAL and prepped      another side for needle turn applique.

4. I am up to date for all 6 of the BOM's I'm working on.

5.  I got my doll quilt swap quilt sent and received mine.

6.  I made another block for the APQ QAL.

I am really liking how this is looking.

7.  I finished the first four blocks in the Cheri Payne series called "Common          Threads".

8.  I am also up to date with the latest Mystery Monday by "This and That" by      Sherri Falls.

I want to end the month showing you the quilt I made testing a pattern for Cindy at Quilt Doodle Designs.

The pattern is called "Monkey Shines" and is the perfect quilt for one of my granddaughter's who LOVES Monkey.

The instructions were easy to read and the applique patterns were excellent.  I really enjoyed making this quilt.

I am also doing Cindy's BOM.  She is very talented and has some wonderful patterns both for sale and free.  She is also on Craftsy.

I will leave you with one project that is on my May "To Do" list.  More tomorrow.

This is a Disappearing 4 Patch quilt in progress.  It is made from a charm pack I purchased from Connecting.  Their charm packs are so reasonably priced that I usually order 4 packs at a time.  That way I have enough to finish a larger project.

Well that is it for now.  Thanks for stopping by.  Tomorrow I will reveal my entire May "To Do" list.

My Happy Place

Is my sewing room.  I've been spending some quality time in sewing room lately.  Crossing off lots of projects from my "To Do" list.

First up is my April Blocks from the Hip Chicks BOM.

The center block is going to be star points for the center medallion block.  I had to make 4 of them.  The flowers were suppose to be fusible applique. But you know me.  I had to needle turn applique them.  I almost gave up a couple of times.  They were a little too little.

Next up...I am a huge fan of Cheri Payne.  I fell in love with her Common Threads series.  Here are the first set of 4 blocks.

I have already shown you the flower pot block.  I finished the other three blocks yesterday.  I can't wait to start on the next set.

I started working on the APQ QAL blocks last month.  My goal is to make an additional 3 blocks this month.  Thereafter I want to make 4 blocks a month. Here are last months block and a block I made yesterday.

I'm so glad I decided to make all my blocks in Red and Blue.  The original quilt has every block a different color.  I was amazed to see that my reds and blues in these two blocks are so similar.  It wasn't planned.

My final project is something that was started 2 years ago.  I just kept putting it aside to work on other projects.  I felt it was time to finish it up.

Sarah Vee from Sew Joy Creations asked if anyone would like to join in a QAL. I decided to join along.  The center blocks was her design.  The rest is mine.  I plan on getting it quilted this month.  Then it will hang on my sewing room door.

Well that is it for now.  It is going to be a rainy day today so a good day for getting some more sewing done and tackle another project on my To Do list.  Mmmm.....I think I will make some more Jacob's Ladder blocks.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

A Finish and a Start

Since I finished my to do list I started a few new projects.

This is a little quilt I made.  Not sure what I'm going to do with it.  But I have a couple of people that this would work in their bedrooms or living rooms.

I ordered some scrap backs and had some gray fabric lying around so I thought I would do the Aurifil BOM.  The prints used were all scraps.  I had to add some fabric to make it work as some of the pieces were longer than my scraps.  This is totally outside my color wheel...but I like it.

I'm always a little late to the party.

I've seen a lot of quilters have been doing the APQ SAL.  Since I had a little time on my hands I thought I would give it a try.  I love this block.  A little time consuming cutting all the little pieces but well worth it.  This is going to be my Sunday sewing project.  It will be scrappy and each block is going to have a different red and blue fabric.  I think I am looking at my next bed quilt.

On a weather note....snow is almost gone but the temps are in the 20's and we are expecting that nasty white stuff in the mail tomorrow.  Meanwhile I sit in my cozy sewing room finishing projects, starting new ones and dreaming about I want to make in the future.

I hope you had a great weekend and a great week.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs, Cathy
