HOTHOUSE, Toronto, ON

I had supper this evening at HOTHOUSE at Front Street W/Church Street with Franca, my pal of about 30 years (we worked together many years ago) and Anne, my pal of a few years. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten together so it was nice to catch up.

I had Chicken Brochette (Moroccan spice marinated grilled chicken skewer, served with lemon scented rice, herb fingerling potatoes, tzatziki … I think it was just plain rice as I didn’t taste any lemon).

Franca had Cape d’Or Salmon (pan-Seared organic Newfoundland Atlantic salmon, lemon scented rice, butter poached broccolini, sauce vierge).

Anne had Spaghetti Alle Vongole (fresh Spaghetti Quadri, fresh Canadian Manila clams, heirloom cherry tomatoes, parsley, aglio e olio). 

Patty was friendly and took good care of us.

I had supper this evening at HOTHOUSE on Front Street W with Franca, my pal of about 30 years (we worked together many years ago). We sat inside rather than on the patio since it was so humid (it ended up raining for a bit).

Here we are ... it was fun to catch up.

Franca had a Stir Fry (broccoli, peppers & bean sprouts, bok choy, baby corn and hearts of palm with a sweet & sour sauce, basmati rice) with shrimp. 

I had Lasagna al Forno (ricotta cheese, spinach, beef ragu, tomato basil, mozzarella).

Both were good.

Franca also ordered Strawberry Rhubarb Trifle (strawberry and rhubarb compote layered berween chiffon cake, vanilla pastry cream and chantilly). 

Katie took good care of us.

Gord and I had tickets to see John Prine this evening.  Our friends, Malcolm and Mary, also had tickets.  We met for supper beforehand at HOTHOUSE (Church Street/Front Street).  It was a busy spot!

I ordered what I had when I was there last month ... Lasagna Al Forno.  It was good ... even better than last time.  Mary also had it and enjoyed too.

Gord and I had supper this evening at HOTHOUSE (Church Street/Front Street) with Liz, Rona and Jacob.

I ordered Lasagna Al Forno.  It was good and I'd get it again.

 

Gord ordered Jambalaya.  He said it was good.

It was great to chat, catch up and meet Jacob.  Rona and Jacob recently got engaged (he also recently moved here from Italy) and are getting married in a couple weeks ... congrats to Rona and Jacob!  Here we are ... Liz, Gord, me, Jacob and Rona.

Christopher was our server.  He was a hoot and took good care of us.

I had supper this evening at The Hot House Restaurant & Bar (Church Street/Front Street) with my pals, Franca, Liz and Rona (we worked together in the mid-1990s and have been friends since).  Our intent was to hang on the patio but the threat of rain had us sitting inside.
