31 Day Challenge: Rainbow

I am scared of my own nails. Honestly, I can't really look at these too long. *shudder*

For the base I used OPI My Vampire Is Buff, and then stamped each nail with BM301 using red, yellow, green, and blue Konad stamping polish. Pennywise is painted with acrylic paints and pure terror. Sheesh.

I Sh@t On The Cat In The Hat

Okay, so this mani made me LOL. It's Grumpy Cat with some Cat In The Hat inspired stripes (albeit a little curvy). I did this for my art show happy hour tonight! And I did give it a rather rude name, perhaps something that Grumpy Cat might say herself: I Shat On The Cat In The Hat.

I painted my nails using Wet n Wild French White Creme, except the ring finger which is painted with a base of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons. Then I used Konad Red and MoYou London Sailor Plate 05 for the stripes. I hand painted the Grumpy Cat on my ring finger using acrylic paints. Everything is topped with Seche Vite topcoat.

My art show is tonight from 5pm to 7pm (a special happy hour) and also this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. I'll have wine tonight, otherwise you can have a Capri Sun juice pouch. Oh and candy! And you can see my artwork. The Studio Santa Rosa is located at 3840 Finley Avenue in Santa Rosa, CA.

Oh YEAH, It's My Birthday Nails

As my young niece Molly yelled at her 3rd birthday party, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEE!" Today I am wearing nails to celebrate my 41st birthday. I thought about something with balloons, or cupcakes, or stars, but they didn't seem right. So instead, I grabbed my Konad Coraline stamping plates and did THIS:

I love the pose of this image. It's got ATTITUDE. and if you are painting nail art on your nails with goofy characters, you gotta have attitude. I painted my nails with Love and Beauty Glow In The Dark polish in Neon Pink (the color is rather chameleon like... soft pink in indoor light, neon pink outdoors), then used the decal technique to create the image on my ring finger.

First I stamped this image from Konad Coraline plate CO4 using Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris. Then I let the image dry on the stamper for 5 minutes, before coloring it in with thinned down acrylic paints. After that paint had set, I coated the image with Sally Hansen No Chip Acrylic Top Coat and let it dry for about 30 minutes. I then gently peeled it from the stamper and applied it to my nail, pressing it down to conform to my nail. Then I top coated with Seche Vite. Coraline looks like she is saying, "Oh snap, girlfriend."

And yes, these nails DO glow in the dark, however my camera sucks at taking pictures of glow in the dark stuff, so this was the best I could get. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEE!

Ugly Christmas Sweater Nails

Hi all! It's been a busy holiday season, sorry to have neglected the ol bloggy blog. Here are some nails I did yesterday. The base is OPI Comet Loves Cupid, and then I used Konad Special White Stamping Polish to make the designs. My sister got me the Konad Gold Stamping set last year and I totally love it!

I used the following plates to make these designs: bm225, bm319, bm214, m16, and bm316. I found that a lighter hand worked better when trying to lift the deer and ornament images. Otherwise you end up pushing the polish out of the plate.

Merry Christmas!!

Snowflakes

I am starting a new nail art challenge today with a few of my polish buddies. Feel free to join us if you would like! The thought of creating 24 different xmas manis on top of everything else I am trying to get done this holiday season was a bit too daunting, so we are doing the 12 Days of Christmas Manis! And I may not do them in order or even get them done in 12 days, but that is totally allowed with this challenge. :-)

I do not use stamps a lot, because I really enjoy doing freehand art. But this is on my right hand (meaning I did it with my non-dominant left hand) so I thought it might be prettier to use stamps.

This is a combination of two different in expensive polishes, and it kind of reminds me of OPI's Swimsuit... Nailed It! This combo has large and small blue glitter, which is really fun. :)

I started by stamping with a light blue polish. This is a snowflake image from the Bundle Monster BM14 plate. I tried to place it in different spots on each nail.

Next I used a silver polish with the same stamp. Finally I topped it with white snowflakes. I went through a LOT of Q-Tips with this mani, LOL.

Here are the two polishes I used for the base color: Love and Beauty Blue Glitter and Sinful Colors Ciao Bella. I really like the combination of these two polishes!

I topped the blue glittery base with snowflakes stamped using OPI No Room For The Blues, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri White Out, and a tiny silver polish from Bon Bons.

Here are the different themes we will be trying during the 12 Days of Christmas Manis! Check out the other awesome nail bloggers who are joining in the fun:

If you want to join in this challenge, please link your manicure in the comments and I will add your blog to the list of participating bloggers! Merry Christmas!
