Santa Snowglobe

Once again I'm combining a Power Poppy challenge with a Jingle Belles one, as they both fit together perfectly!

Allison went with white on white with a touch of color but I'm not that brave LOL Instead of using washi tape in the corners I just did a full back panel of patterned paper, although I did keep the theme of stripes. Allison used Texture Paste to create a background but I don't own any of that so I went with some embossing on white card stock. The snowglobe is from a Power Poppy digital stamp set called Snowglobe Greetings. I love snowglobes and I love Santa so it's a perfect stamp for me! I colored the image with copics and then fussy cut it out.

I got stuck on the sentiment for a while...I didn't want anything too cute because the snowglobe gives off an old fashioned feel but all the sentiments catching my eye were too big to use. I finally settled on a retired SU one that I felt worked well with the image. Like Allison I heat embossed it on red card stock and then cut it to make a banner coming out from the snowglobe. A lot of the same ideas on my card but still a tad different :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Some Christmas Fun to Welcome March

The current challenge over at the Jingle Belles blog is to use stickers, rub-ons or both to make your Christmas card! I guess my brain gets stuck on stamping because I had trouble getting going with this..I just couldn't wrap my mind around the stickers, LOL. I finally got in gear and made 4 cards today, 2 each of the same design.

For my first card I played along again with the sketch over at The Paper Players, as well as with Jingles Belles. As soon as I grabbed these penguins out of my stash I knew the sketch would be perfect for them! My colors on the card come right from the penguins themselves...black with splashes of red, white and green!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):

Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, Garden Green, Whisper White, AC Patterned Paper
Ink: Garden Green
Accessories: Stickers from Recollections, Small Oval Punch, Modern Label Punch, Real Red Ribbon, Big Shot, Snow Burst Embossing Folder, sponge, dimensionals

My second card is also about letting it snow but this time I've got a snowman in a snow globe to brighten things up, along with more traditional Christmas colors.

Merry Snowglobe

I took a break from playing in the snow and photographing the young bull moose thats been in my yard to play along with this weeks Merry Monday challenge. I honestly tried to work with the oval shape but everything I tried looked horrible, I just could not seem to get the idea in my mind onto paper, so I went with a square instead and used the Sweet Snowglobe stamp for a nice wintry scene.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Sweet Snowglobe, sentiments from Bright Hopes
Paper: Early Espresso, Riding Hood Red, Naturals White, S.E.I. Cocoa Cluster

Snowglobe and Snowflakes

Its time for a new challenge over at the Jingle Belles blog and this week its a color challenge! We are told to use the colors kraft, white and light blue. Definitely colors for a winter scene so I pulled out a stamp I hadn't used yet, Sweet Snowglobe. I love love love snowglobes and this was one of those stamps I just had to have!

For my colors I used SU Whisper White, Bashful Blue and Crumb Cake. Crumb Cake is the base of the card and I ran some Bashful Blue through my Cuttlebug Snow Dots folder. I layered this onto some Whisper White before attaching it to the base. The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White with Crumb Cake and layered on Crumb Cake cardstock. The edges of all the cardstock was sponged with coordinating colors and the snowglobe is popped up with dimensionals.

I wish I could see a scene like this one more time! Its spring break here in southcentral Alaska and the last few yrs we've had snowstorms during spring break. Doesn't look like we'll be seeing anything but sun and temps in the mid to upper 30's, BOO! I'm not ready to give up my winter yet :P

Stamps- Sweet Snowglobe, Seasons Greetings
Paper- Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
