Flamingo Birthday

Ok, I had to do one more card with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge! I told you I liked the sketch LOL

One of our goods friends had a birthday today, Nov.6, and so we had her over for dinner. I wanted to get a birthday card for her done so I got to work this afternoon while keeping an eye on football (GO GIANTS!). She adores flamingos....it always cracks me up that a yard in Alaska is filled with flamingo decorations but she rocks it......so I pulled out the Lawn Fawn set Flamingo Together and colored in the 2 flamingos and then used my Scan N Cut to cut them out. I used rectangles from MFT to create a shaker area and filled it with white, silver and pink colored sequins. After getting that all together I adhered the flamingos to the front of the shaker panel. The DSP is SU retired from many years ago. I saved it because I hate the color pink but it comes in handy for projects like this when pink is needed!

Stamps: Flamingo Together (Lawn Fawn), Tickled Pink (MFT-inside sentiment)
Paper: Basic Gray, So Saffron (both SU), Neenah Solar White, Tea Party DSP (SU retired)
Ink: Basic Gray (SU), Strawberry Slush (SU retired), Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics: R81, R83, R85, Y35
Accessories: Cuttlebug, MFT Blueprints 15, MFT Zig Zag Stitch Rectangles, various sequins, Window Sheet, Scan N Cut, dimensionals

A Shaker Christmas for TTS

It's time for another TTS challenge and this week we have some non traditional colors for you to play with.

It's no secret that using colors other than red and green for Christmas is hard for me. I am traditional right down to my very core. When I saw these colors I knew I would have to think about the direction I wanted to go for my card.

I chose the Razzleberry color as my main color since it's the closest one to a red and I used a new die from My Favorite Things to create a shaker card. I love this die, it's so cool! It comes with the Merry Christmas centerpiece and then 4 dies to create confetti in seasonal shapes. So fun! I used the small dies to create my seasonal shapes in the rest of the challenge colors.

To finish the card off I added some embellishments on the front, rhinestones and vanilla candy dots.

Head over to the 'Tis The Season blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

Stamps: none
Paper: Rich Razzleberry , Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral, Marina Mist (all SU)
Ink: none
Accessories: Cuttlebug, MFT Die-namics Merry Christmas Centerpiece, Very Vanilla Candy Dots, Rhinestones

Shake Shake Shake, Shake Your Santa!

Right now at the Jingle Belles blog they have a terrific challenge that was brought to them by one of the frequent players of the blog, Marianne of Marianne's Cards 'n Stuff. We can create a shaker card or a card that features Santa on it or just join them together to create a shaker card that has a Santa on it. Well, I love Santa and I love shaker cards so I opted to do both!

I used the SU set Get Your Santa On and colored Santa with Copics, plus added some Wink of Stella on his coat. The circles were cut using the Spellbinders Dies. The shaker portion was filled with sequins from the Classic Christmas Mix offered at Pretty Pink Posh. The DSP and card stock is from SU.

I've been having fun with Santa all day, shaking those sequins around :)

The sketch is a previous one from Freshly Made Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by! Did you know there are only 199 days left until Christmas? It's true!

Shake Your Congrats for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Holly is our hostess and she wants use to create shaker cards with a congratulations theme!

I decided to use the set Celebrate today. I used the balloon die to cut a shape out of the DSP and then created my shaker portion of the card. I used 2014-16 In Color sequins for the shaker. Even though I stamped 'celebrate' this card can be used for any occasion. I think I'm actually going to use it as a congratulations card for a new baby!

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

Shake Your Moose for Friday Mashup

It's my turn to host the challenge over at The Friday Mashup and I'm all about shaker cards and animals!

Anyone who knows me knows I love winter and I anxiously await the first snowfall here in southcentral Alaska. This time of year shaker cards are on my mind because I want snow so badly! Of course not all shaker cards are about snow, you can use them for whatever theme you want. I also love animals and so I decided to combine those 2 loves for this challenge!

For my card I took the moose image (which I love!) from Walk in the Wild and stamped it on some Whisper White. I used brown for the grass the moose is nibbling on and then took my white gel pen and streaked it with white to make it look like fresh snow. It's really hard to see in the photo though I know but trust me, its there.

To make my shaker frame I cut out a piece of Early Espresso card stock with the On Film Framelits and used a row cut from my dimensionals as the backing for the shaker. The main card base is also Early Espresso with DSP from the Trim the Tree paper stack. I love this plaid paper and I'm so glad that SU brought it back. And yes, this is going to be a Christmas card I send out this year :)

I hope you'll come by The Friday Mashup and play along with the challenge!

Winter Shaking with Friday Mashup

Welcome to another Friday Mashup, and we're now into December. I cant believe how quickly this year has gone by, it's just insane to me.

This week our challenge comes from Rita and she has a great one...a winter themed shaker card! Now as much as I love winter and snow you'd think that I do this type of card all the time...nope! I think this is only my 2nd attempt at a shaker card, and it was um, interesting, LOL. I had some issues with the foam mounting tape I used to create the shaker area, it didnt want to stick to my cardstock at all, so I think I'm going to have to play around with it and see what the problem is. I did get my card made though so woooohooo for that, LOL

So here we go:

Make a project featuring "A Shaker Card".
Or Make a project with a "Winter Theme".
Or "Mash it Up" and create a " Winter Themed Shaker Card. "

Shaker card tutorial can be found here.

Dont forget to head over to The Friday Mashup Blog to check out all the great inspiration from the rest of the design team and then link up your card, we want to see what YOU do with the challenge!
