Sunday Stamps 200th Celebration

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and I'm so excited because it's our 200th challenge! To celebrate this milestone each DT member is giving away a prize on their blog to a random comment that is left during the challenge period. Monika will be our blog for international winners so if you live outside of the US make sure and comment on her blog!

For our 200th challenge we have a great sketch from Monika! I took the sketch pretty literally and used a digital stamp from Power Poppy called Gerbera Daisies. I also have a clear stamp set with this image but went with the digital version so I could enlarge it to fit on my card the way I wanted it too.  I used some DSP from SU for my background, I liked how the yellow flowers of the paper looked against my image and the green striped portion went along perfectly with the sketch!

Stamps: Gerbera Daisies (Power Poppy digital stamp), Dynamic Duos: Glads and Gerberas (sentiment, Power Poppy)
Paper: Old Olive (SU), Neenah Solar White, Delightful Daisy DSP (SU retired)
Ink: Old Olive (SU), Printer Ink
Copics: Y02, Y04, Y08
YG03, YG63, YG67
T1
Accessories: MFT Blueprints 20 and 30, dimensionals

So what prize am I offering up as a way to say thank you? I have this fun Mama Elephant Christmas set with matching dies plus 2 Distress Oxide Ink pads!!

One random comment will be chosen and the winner will be announced with our Top Picks on March 23rd. Visit all of the DT blogs to see their creations and then leave a comment for a chance to win on each respective blog but don't forget, Monika will be the only blog choosing a winner from outside the US!

Sending Happy Wishes

For this card I combined 2 challenges....the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the Creative Confetti Challenge from Power Poppy.

The Creative Confetti challenge asks us to split our card canvas between 2 colors or go dark to light. Hopefully the way I interpreted it still works....I took the poppy from the Power Poppy Poppy XL set and stamped it on Neenah Solar White and then I also stamped it on Cherry Cobbler with Versamark and heat embossed it in white. I used my Scan N Cut to cut out the flowers and then cut them in half across the middle and then  I colored the portion on the white card stock in with my copics.

I created my card base with Crumb Cake and then did a layer of Cherry Cobbler DSP, rounding the edges at the bottom of the card. My strip across the middle is retired Crumb Cake DSP and for the heart in the sketch I used the flower, putting the white colored section on top and the embossed Cherry Cobbler section on the bottom. I wanted a sentiment on the front so I created a banner to go across the middle of the flower, which was also the perfect way to separate the light and dark portions of the flower.

Thanks for stopping by!

Be Happy

As soon as I saw this sketch at Clean and Simple Stamping I knew it would be perfect for a Power Poppy image. I decided to use the Geraniums Take Two set and also played along with the current Hues to Use challenge, which is a bright pink, white and black (at least that's what it looks like to me!).

I colored the geraniums the pink and then brought in the dark color on the pots. I also used black for the card base and for the strip of DSP along the left side. I tried to keep my leaves on the flowers a darker green and more neutral instead of a bright green.

Thanks for stopping by!

You Make Me Happy

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a sketch. It's a bit of a tricky one I think but can be interpreted in a lot of different ways!

For my card I wanted to keep it simple and make a sentiment the main focus. I took a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp set  and drew the colors from the retired SU DSP that I used. I cut it out with a die from MFT and popped it up at the top of the card.

Head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with, and then play along with us!

Brayers and Circles for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Tara is our hostess and she has a great sketch for us, plus she'd also like us to try the Bouncing Brayer Technique. I do not own a brayer (it's true, I have never bought one!) so I didn't mash it up this time, sorry Tara!

For the sketch I used the set Starburst Sayings, as I thought that would be perfect for the circles. As you can see I had to adjust the sketch a bit to fit the sizes I used but you can still see the sketch on my card. I chose to use nice bright colors as I think they are perfect for the "oh happy day" sentiment!

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

  • Create a project using "the sketch".
  • Create a project using the "Bouncing Brayer Technique (tutorial)".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project using the Bouncing Brayer Technique and the Sketch".

Happiness Sketch with Mambo and Indigo

I combined 2 challenges for this card....the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Dynamic Duos. Thanks to the color challenge I now have the song "Mambo No 5" stuck in my head....anyone else remember that song? I used to play it over an over and drive my husband insane with it.....

"A little bit of Monica in my life,
A little bit of Erica by my side.
A little bit of Rita's all I need,
A little bit of Tina's what I see.
A little bit of Sandra in the sun,
A little bit of Mary all night long.
A little bit of Jessica here I am,
A little bit of you makes me your man!
Mambo number five. "

Ok, I digress LOL I decided to go for a Valentine themed card and used a retired set, Take It to Heart. I just love this set and knew I would use it for many years to come. This is my favorite image in the set. The sketch has 3 images on the right side so I used the main heart panel and then the pearl accents for the other 2 spots. A nice simple sentiment completes it. Both the sentiment and the main image panel are popped up with dimensionals.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Take It to Heart, Loving Thoughts
Paper: Melon Mambo, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo DSP, Whisper White
Ink: Island Indigo, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Framelits Hearts Collection, Framelits Bitty Banners, Basic Pearls, Scallop Edge Border Punch, sponge, dimensionals

Enchanted with Paper Players

My only goal for today was to play along with The Paper Players, lol. Yeah, I know, rough day here :0) This is such a great sketch and I knew I had to make time to make a project with it.

I finally broke into my pack of Everyday Enchantment DSP. It's good because it forces me to use colors I normally wouldn't go for, such as Calypso Coral, but I have to say that color does look nice with the Lucky Limeade and the Soft Suede!

If you haven't already definitely go check out The Paper Players and the great inspiration provided by the DT!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Take it To Heart, Loving Thoughts
Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Everyday Enchantment DSP
Ink: Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade
Accessories: Very Vanilla Brads, Calypso Coral Ribbon, Big Shot, Swiss Dots EF, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Framelits Hearts Collection, Decorative Label Punch, sponge

Spring Colors

If you go back to this Santa card you'll see that I had submitted it over at the Friday Mashup blog for the sketch challenge and WOW, my card was chosen as that weeks favorite and I was named a Mashup Maven! How awesome is that? I love that blog and those ladies so it meant a lot to me! It also meant that I was going to be a guest designer for the Mashup Challenge #32. I got a sneak peek at what Holly came up with and its an inspiration challenge. As soon as I saw the colors I instantly thought of spring and flowers.

To help me along I also used this weeks sketch over at Stamping 411, combining 2 great challenges!

Be Happy

As I was sitting at my desk making this card today I had Bobby McFerrins song "Dont Worry Be Happy" in my head the entire time! Remember that tune?

Anyway, todays card combines 2 challenges. The first is from the Friday Mashup blog and this week was Holly's turn, and she chose a color challenge. I wasnt too sure about the Peach Parfait but in the end I think it all came together well.

The sketch is from this weeks challenge over at the Stamping 411 blog. I ended up spacing out the brads above the image because my daughter(the toughest critic you'll ever meet, geez) didnt like them all together. She was home sick today and let me tell you, dont even try and bother arguing with a sick 15 year old girl! LOL

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps-Darling Dots, Quick Thinking
Paper- River Rock, Pink Pirouette, Peach Parfait, Whisper White
Ink- River Rock, Pink Pirouette, Peach Parfait

Happy Thoughts

I havent played along with Mojo Monday in quite some time so I decided to join in this weeks challenge. It is Sketch 146 and this is what it looks like:

I decided to go with a happy card with soft colors, Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst, Pretty in Pink and So Saffron. I took the colors from the Tea Party DSP that I used on the card. For the main flower I stamped the image in Pretty In Pink, then stamped it again in So Saffron and Almost Amethyst. I then cut out the So Saffron and Almost Amethyst into smaller flowers and layered those onto the Pretty in Pink flower. After adhering them all together I bent up the edges to give it even more of a 3-dimensional look and then used dimensionals to adhere the flower to the card. Dimensionals were also used to pop up the sentiment. Almost Amethyst was sponged around the oval, sentiment square and DSP, while the edges of the pink strips were sponged with Pretty in Pink.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Apple Blossoms
Paper: Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Tea Party DSP
Ink: Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Almost Amethyst
Accessories: 1 3/8" square punch, Dimensionals, Sponge
