In the Bubble for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Cindy has a super fun challenge....she wants us to create a project using black, white/ivory and one other color of your choice. To add to the fun throw some word bubbles in there too!

As soon as I saw the
sketch at Clean and Simple Stamping I smiled and was like, yes!! It couldn't have come at a better time. I was trying to figure out what to do for my card and this sketch made it all so simple.

I used the Arrows TIEF to emboss a strip of Whisper White and then I die cut the word bubbles in Basic Black and used a white gel pen to create the border. I stamped one of the bubbles from Just Sayin' in Daffodil Delight and used the coordinting die to cut it out. Following the sketch I added the bubbles across the card, with the Daffodil Delight bubble popped up with dimensionals. I don't know what it is about this card but it just makes me smile!

Make sure you head over to
The Friday Mashup to see what the rest of the DT came up with, and also swing by Clean and Simple Stamping and give the sketch a try, its a fun one!

  • Create a project using the colors" Black , White/Ivory and one other color of your choice".
  • Create a project using a "Word Bubble".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Black & White project with a Word Bubble on it".

    Going Red for Jingle Belles

Since today's prompt falls on Valentines Day the Jingle Belle ladies are all about the color red. They want to see that color take center stage on our Christmas cards!

I had to pick my oldest up from work this morning so instead of going back to bed like I normally do(I work nights and don't get to bed until 4am, I'm not a bum, LOL) I sucked it up and just stayed up, which gave me time today for some crafting (although I'm sure I'll be paying for it tonight at work, lol).

I started with an Early Espresso card base and layered some Very Vanilla and Real Red on top of that. I embossed the Real Red with the SU Snow Burst EF. The banners were created with Candlelight Christmas(retired) DSP, I love this paper and bought a few packs from the clearance rack, it is so pretty! I sponged the edges of the banners with Real Red for a more cohesive look.

The sentiment is from the set Welcome Home and was stamped in Real Red and then I fussy cut it and popped it up with dimensionals. I'll be making a total of 5 of these cards, I'll get them finished tomorrow.

My inspiration for the layout came from the
latest sketch at the Clean and Simple Stamping blog.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Welcome Christmas, More Merry Messages(inside sentiment, not shown)
Paper: Early Espresso, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Candlelight Christmas DSP
    Ink: Real Red
Accessories: Big Shot, Snow Burst EF(retired), sponge, dimensionals

    Clean and Simple Christmas

And trust me, when I say clean and simple this weeks sketch is VERY clean and simple, and I like that!

I had a bit of a rustic, snowy day on my mind so I grabbed Crumb Cake cardstock and used some Sapphire embossing powder I've had for yrs on snowflakes from the Bright Hopes set. I love these snowflakes and I really like them embossed like this. For the sentiment I used Night of Navy and to keep the focus on the snowflakes I didnt emboss the Merry Christmas.

To give it just a bit of an extra touch I added the rhinestones between the snowflakes. I dont like the way it photographed...here in southcentral Alaska we're having a very windy and gray day and no matter where I took the photo it turned out a bit dark, ugh!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
    Stamps: Bright Hopes
    Paper: Crumb Cake
    Ink: Night of Navy, Versamark
Accessories: Sapphire embossing powder, round corner punch, rhinestones

    Thanks For Caring

When I lost my father to cancer last October I had so many friends step up and comfort me in whatever ways I needed, and even now, 8 months after losing him, there are still so many dear friends that help me deal with the emotions I face daily of not having my dad around. I made this card with all of them in mind.

I love the clean and simple look, and the Clean and Simple blog is one of my favs. I used this weeks sketch to make the card.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Nature Walk, sentiment from Thanks For Caring
Paper: Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla, Botanical Gazette DSP
Ink: Early Espresso, Not Quite Navy, Versamark
Accessories: Sponge, Scallop Border Punch, Very Vanilla Ribbon, dimensionals

    Christmas in July Part 2

Here is another Christmas card, and this time I combined 3 challenges.

The first challenge is Sunday Stamps over at Hollybeary Creations and this weeks letter is 'Y'. For this I used the SU set 'Yule Bits and Borders'.

The second challenge is over at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long and its a free challenge, which means just make any Christmas card you want, no design specifics to follow.

My layout is this weeks challenge over at the Clean and Simple Stamping Blog and it looks like this:

My card base is Rich Razzleberry and I used Whisper White Craft Ink to create a background on Night of Navy cardstock, which was then layered on top of Brushed Silver cardstock. The snowflakes are stamped with Night of Navy on Whisper White cardstock and the star is stamped with Encore Silver Metallic ink. Each image was then layered on Night of Navy and Brushed Silver cardstock. I used Night of Navy to stamp the sentiment and sponged the edges with Rich Razzleberry.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
    Stamps: Yule Bits and Borders
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy, Whisper White, Brushed Silver
Ink: Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Encore Silver Metallic, Whisper White Craft Ink
Accessories: 1 3/8" square punch, Small oval punch, Dimensionals
