Better Get Better

For this card I played along with 2 challenges....Dynamic Duos and The Paper Players.

Over at The Paper Players they have a Tic Tac Toe challenge and I went with the middle row...get well, bling and yellow. For the Dynamic Duos we were able to choose a color to pair Basic Gray with and I chose Daffodil Delight, I just love putting yellow with gray, I think its a great combo!

I used retired stamps for this but current paper. Ever have a card envisioned in your mind but when you go to put it together its a complete fail? That's what happened to me today. I had originally planned to use the retired set Oh, Whale but it wasnt coming together so I put that set back on the shelf. I perused all my current sets and nothing was jumping out at me. Upsy Daisy is such a great set, I refuse to let it collect dust, so I decided to use that one. Then the sentiment drove me crazy because again, none of my current stuff was making me happy. I ended up using an older retired set called Quick Thinking and finally, I was happy with my completed card! The banner with the sentiment is popped up with dimensionals.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Upsy Daisy (retired), Quick Thinking(retired)
Paper: Basic Gray, Whisper White, Gingham Garden DSP
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray
Accessories: Big Shot, Framelits Bitty Banners, Nestabilities Circles, Rhinestones, dimensionals

Heart Full of Thanks

I wont have any stamping time until Thursday so I used my time today to make a card for 2 challenges, Dynamic Duos and The Paper Players.

For Dynamic Duos the 2 colors to use are Real Red and Basic Black with a dessert option of Valentine theme, and the sketch is this weeks Paper Players challenge. I used retired sets for my card and even though it says "heart full of thanks" I think it could still work for a Valentines Day card, don't you?

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Valentine Defined, Lighthearted
Paper: Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Basic Black
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF

Happiness Sketch with Mambo and Indigo

I combined 2 challenges for this card....the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Dynamic Duos. Thanks to the color challenge I now have the song "Mambo No 5" stuck in my head....anyone else remember that song? I used to play it over an over and drive my husband insane with it.....

"A little bit of Monica in my life,
A little bit of Erica by my side.
A little bit of Rita's all I need,
A little bit of Tina's what I see.
A little bit of Sandra in the sun,
A little bit of Mary all night long.
A little bit of Jessica here I am,
A little bit of you makes me your man!
Mambo number five. "

Ok, I digress LOL I decided to go for a Valentine themed card and used a retired set, Take It to Heart. I just love this set and knew I would use it for many years to come. This is my favorite image in the set. The sketch has 3 images on the right side so I used the main heart panel and then the pearl accents for the other 2 spots. A nice simple sentiment completes it. Both the sentiment and the main image panel are popped up with dimensionals.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Take It to Heart, Loving Thoughts
Paper: Melon Mambo, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo DSP, Whisper White
Ink: Island Indigo, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Framelits Hearts Collection, Framelits Bitty Banners, Basic Pearls, Scallop Edge Border Punch, sponge, dimensionals

Happy Snowmen

I've got another busy week ahead so I tried to squeeze in a few challenges today. For this card I played along with The Paper Players, Dynamic Duos and Jingle Belles.

The Paper Players have a theme challenge going on, and its snowmen. I love snowmen and I am hoping that making snowmen cards right now will help Mother Nature actually bring snow to my area! It's Dec.2nd...in southcentral Alaska....and we're under a red flag(fire) warning! We've had more grass fires the last 4 days then we had all summer, its pretty scary. So here you go Mother Nature, how can you resist these happy snowmen? I know I sure cant!

The colors come from the Dynamic Duos, which is to use Certainly Celery and Real Red. In the image I used a very small touch of orange for the noses but other than that the images uses only CC and RR, with a touch of neutral(Crumb Cake). I also added some Dazzling Details to help the scene stand out a little more.

Last but not least....over at the Jingle Belles blog the challenges are done until Jan.1st but they still wan us to link up any Christmas cards or winter cards in the meantime!

(if the sketch looks familiar it was recently a challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches and I just love it, very versatile!)

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Frosty Friends, More Merry Messages
Paper: Certainly Celery, Real Red, Whisper White, Wintergreen DSP (retired)
Ink: Black StazOn, Certainly Celery, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Only Orange (retired)
Accessories: Certainly Celery ribbon, Modern Label Punch, Oval Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, sponge, dimensionals

Mr. Twigster for Dynamic Duos

Happy Monday! Hope the week is starting off well for everyone...so far so good here in southcentral Alaska!.

I saw this weeks challenge over at Dynamic Duos and just had to make time to play along....Marina Mist and Basic Black with an option of making your project snowman themed. Love the colors and I just adore snowmen!!

I've seen projects with these window dies popping up all over the place and I just LOVE the windows so I took a little jaunt over to Ebay and picked myself up both the small and large window die, plus the shutters and flower box, wooohooo! For this card I used the small window die along with the SU Mr.Twigster set. I tried to make it like you were looking out the window and saw Mr.Twigster smiling and peeking in on you (ever see the movie Jack Frost with Michael Keaton? There is a scene like that and that was what I had in my mind while making this).

Thanks for stopping by and to all my crafting friends, I am behind on leaving comments(again) but I plan on going on a commenting spree when I get home from work tonight so beware :0)

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Mr. Twigster, sentiment from Bright Christmas
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Marina Mist DSP
Ink: Marina Mist, Black StazOn
Accessories: Dazzling Details, Orange Stickles, Cuttlebig, Swiss Dots EF, Poppystamps Small Madison Window, Basic Black Brads, sponge, dimensionals

Merry Bird for Jingle Belles and Dynamic Duos

My youngest sons basketball season ended on Friday so I have more crafting time again woohoooo! Since school started most of my time has been spent driving from one place to another, I am sure many of you can relate!

To enjoy my free afternoon today I played along with Jingle Belles and Dynamic Duos. I haven't played along with Dynamic Duos in a while but as soon as I saw this weeks color duo I knew I had to try and get a card made.

This week at Jingle Belles they have a sketch, brought to us by Allison from Stampin' When I Can. I visit Allison's blog all the time so I was happy to see her as a guest star at JB! I admit, the sketch perplexed me for a bit but I decided to just keep it simple. The only thing I omitted was the 3 objects from the top...I tried a few things but just couldn't settle on any element I liked.

The colors for Dynamic Duos is Gumball Green and Raspberry Ripple. I'm almost through my 2nd pack of Gumball Green, I've been using that card stock like crazy, but this was the first time I've broken into the Raspberry Ripple. I don't know why, because its a very pretty color!

Make sure you head over to both of these blogs to check out their challenges and as always, thanks for stopping by!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Four Seasons, More Merry Messages
Paper: Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla, Be of Good Cheer DSP

Crumb Artichoke Lovely Tree

I hope all my friends in the US had a great 4th of July today! Hubby had to work today so we BBQ'd when he got home and then we just hung out with the kids. We have 22 hrs of daylight right now so fireworks really aren't impressive this time of year...we save that fun for New Years Eve!

Thanks to the holiday I did get a paid day off from work and that enabled me to get some stamping done. For this card I combined 2 challenges...Dynamic Duos and Freshly Made Sketches. This is my 3rd card using this weeks Dynamic Duos challenge, so you can tell I like it! I did switch it up though and instead of a red color I used Always Artichoke. :)

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Crumb Cake, To The Nines Specialty DSP(retired), Watercolor Paper, Very Vanilla(inside card)
Ink: Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke

You're My Type

The husband and youngest went fishing, the oldest is gone for the weekend and the daughter is doing her own thing so I took the opportunity to stamp and play along with the Dynamic Duos challenge for the first time.

This week the colors are Basic Black and Daffodil Delight (and the use of neutrals, I used Whisper White) and a dessert option of dry embossing, which I also did. I inked up the set You're My Type for the first time---I thought this was the perfect challenge to use it on, thinking about all the old black typewriters I used to see in various family members houses.

The black strip across the middle is embossed with the Argyle folder from Cuttlebug.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Your're My Type
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight DSP
Ink: Black StazOn
Accessories: Basic Black Brads, Cuttlebug, Argyle EF, dimensionals
