Sea of Textures Swap Cards

Hello there stamping friends! I wanted to share with you today the card I made for our monthly team swaps. Our theme was “water” and it was awesome to see how everyone on the team interpreted the theme. We had watercolored cards, cards with vases filled with water and even a watermelon card. I took the theme pretty literally, mostly because I really wanted to use a brand new stamp set that I recently received in my new catalog preorder. Wink, wink.

This set is called Sea of Textures and will be available starting June 1st in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. There are also matching Framelits for this set and both with be available as a bundle with a 10% discount in just a couple more weeks. Even though you can’t get them now, it’s a fun little sneak peek of what is to come!
Here is a close up of some of the details. My color combo is Blueberry Bushel (which is a NEW In Color), Coastal Cabana (which is returning in the new catalog) and Lemon Lime Twist. I thought this combo had a very “oceanside” feel to it. I added some extra texture with the Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and of course, those little pearls.

The background circle behind the octopus was stamped using the textured stamp in the set. I inked it up multiple times in different ink colors to blend the colors together. I stamped some of the colors “off” a bit so they weren’t too dark and then stamped the little plant fully inked up in Blueberry Bushel. I really like how it came out.
I added couple of pops of the Myths and Magic Glimmer Paper for some sparkly detail. This paper IS retiring on May 31st, so if you love it like I do, stock up now! In addition to the Glimmer Paper, I also added some of (my favorite) Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the Lemon Lime Twist coral piece. It’s not as bold as the Glimmer Paper but it just adds another fun element to the card.

To be honest, this stamp set is not my “usual” style. Turns out, I LOVE it! There was something about that little octopus with the “thanks for reaching out” sentiment that I though was too fun to pass up. I can’t wait to play around a little more with this set!
Finally here is a quick shot of the inside of my card. I left some space for a handwritten note. I just don’t think a card is finished unless you "dress up" the inside. To make it even more fun, you can also stamp your envelopes, as well. Just a little extra touch that makes a big difference.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my card. I’ve listed all of the supplies I used below (minus the Coastal Cabana cardstock…oops). Keep in mind again that the stamp set, framelits and 2 of the colors (Blueberry Bushel and Coastal Cabana) are NOT available until June 1st.

Have a HAPPY day today!

Heartfelt Blooms and Basket Weave Wishes

Hello there! I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far. Today I wanted to share a card with you that is a little different than my usual style. I tend to gravitate toward bright colors and patterns a lot of the time, so I’ve really been trying to challenge myself to step out of that zone a little more regularly. Usually I end up creating quite a mess in my craft studio but it’s always a lot of fun.

This week over at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge they have a “Card Maker’s Choice” theme. This card uses a lot of my favorite products at the moment, so I thought I’d play along. Check it out!
I wanted to showcase a few of the products from the Stampin’ Up Sale-A-Bration promotion because there is just a little over a month left to earn some crafty goodies for free with qualifying purchases. You can see all of the items available by clicking HERE and HERE. The Heartfelt Blooms stamp set and Shimmer Ribbon pack are Level One items and the Basket Weave embossing folder is part of the Blossoming Basket Bundle that is a Level 2 item. Send me a message if you’d like to learn more about this promotion: annemariehile@gmail.com.

There is a little bit of distressing on this card. I took my Crumb Cake ink pad and ran it along the inside of the Basket Weave embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot. It adds a lot of extra detail to the embossed image and then you can just run the embossing folder under water to clean it off. Easy! I also took a sponge with Crumb Cake ink to add some shading around most of the layers and also that little peek of paper doily trim.
To add he little “speckles” on the images, I used a Stampin’ Up Marker in Crumb Cake. You just hold the cap of the marker in one hand and the marker in the other. Then, holding it over your paper, gently “flick” the tip of the marker toward the paper. You can control how heavy or light you want the “speckles” by how close you hold your marker to the paper. I usually recommend starting with a light touch. You can always add more but you can’t remove any if you go in with a heavy hand. Ha!

The sentiment comes from the Barn Door stamp set, which is one I have not really played around with yet. Finally I added a couple of pearl embellishments and the shimmery ribbon to finish it off. It took me a little longer than usual to create but I do like the end result. I hope you do as well!

Thanks for stopping by today! I’ve linked all of the products I used on my card below. If you click on the photos, it will take you directly to my online store. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Enjoy your day! :)

Girly Thanks for Paper Players #245

Hello there and Happy Sunday to you! This week at The Paper Players, the wonderful Jaydee is our hostess with a Clean and Simple (CAS) theme challenge: “Girly Thanks”. How fun is that? We all need thank you cards to send, so why not whip out your crafting supplies and join us this week?
For my card, I almost went WAY over the top with pink and sparkles but realized that I tend to do that a lot. I wanted to challenge myself to do something a little different and create my card for this challenge without using any stamps. I’m a patterned paper hoarder and have been trying to dig into the stash more often. So, I dug out my All Abloom Designer Series Paper (Stampin’ Up) pad, picked two complimentary patterns and got to work on my card.

I am seriously obsessed with the big, bold sentiments from the Hello You Thinlits Dies! The font is so fun and they really pack a punch on a card. Then I added a trio of layered butterflies, using the Bitty Butterfly Punch and dressed them up with some pearls. Again, I wanted to add a bunch of glitter to them, but restrained myself to try to keep this card somewhat CAS. The struggle was real though, let me tell you! :) The Strawberry Slush Baker’s Twine was a last minute addition. I just felt like the card needed “something” in that corner and ribbon would have been too much. The card stock colors on this card are Lost Lagoon, Strawberry Slush and Blushing Bride.
Please join us over at The Paper Players this week!
The challenge will close Friday, May 22nd, 2015 at Noon (PST).
