It features a beautiful array of spring colors in crelly, glitter topper, and flakie finishes. Most releases are on Fridays, so set your calendar so you don't forget. Polish Pickup May 2022 National Parks and Landmarks: Noodles Nail Polish

 *press sample*

Hi everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start. I suffer from allergies, and while they haven't been bad so far this year, today that all changed. Ugh, so much sneezing and a runny nose! Do any of you suffer from seasonal allergies? I actually have to take Zyrtec every day to keep my allergies at bay. And do you know when my allergies especially go haywire? When at national parks! It just so happens that this months Polish Pickup inspiration is National Parks and Landmarks!

Tonight I've got this month's Polish Pickup shade from Noodles Nail Polish to share with you. I am always so excited to see what the makers come up with every month, and they never disappoint! The website is currently open for wishlisting, so go take a look at all the polishes available. PPU starts Friday, May 6th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, May 9th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a bottle limit and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU website. I used to add a blurb in here about cheap PPU shipping, but honestly it's all changed so much that most orders are no longer $3. I just wanted to mention this to any newcomers to the Pickup. Shall we get to some pictures?

Noodles Nail Polish Trevi Wishes (2 coats)
Inspiration: the Trevi Fountain in Italy and silver and copper coins tossed in when making a wish
Price: $11.50
Bottle Limit: None

I'm going to be honest, I've seen pictures of the Trevi Fountain before, but I had no idea that was its name! Who ever said you can't learn anything from enjoying nail polish? Trevi Wishes is a light taupe crelly base with aqua, silver, and copper hexagonal and circular glitters in matte and metallic finishes. I expected this to be a 3-coater due to the light base color, but I'm happy to state that it was perfectly opaque in just 2. It dries with texture due to all of the glitter, so I recommend a coat of a glitter smoothing topcoat followed up with a coat of a quick-dry topcoat for that smooth finish.

There you have it folks! The PPU website is ready for wishlisting, so head on over there to browse the beauties. If any item has a bottle limit, you may want to check out right at 11 AM on Friday so they don't sell out.  What do you think? Which ones will you be picking up this month?

Halal Nail Polish from 786 Cosmetics: Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hi everyone! Was it a manic Monday for you? I'm delighted to say it wasn't a hectic Monday here. The weather the last couple weeks have been absolutely gorgeous. Fall always feels too short here in North Carolina, so I will relish cooler days. Tonight I have a very special post to share with you all. I believe everyone should be able to wear nail polish. I don't care about your race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation; if you want to wear nail polish, you should rock it! I'll admit that I was a bit uneducated about the difficulty Muslim people had in finding nail polish they could wear while practicing the religion. According to the Muslim faith, the entire body must be cleansed before performing the 5 daily prayers. Since traditional nail polishes form a physical barrier from water and oxygen, it would have to be removed before prayer and then reapplied. Who would want to continue to apply and remove polish so often? Not only that, all of the acteone needed to remove the polish would wreck havoc on your nails and cuticles.

Despite there being over a billion Muslims, there are very few Halal nail polishes. When 786 Cosmetics contacted me about reviewing some of their polishes, I jumped at the chance. I was so curious how the polishes would differ from traditional polish. Since the polishes need to allow oxygen and water to pass through, I wanted to know how the application and wear compares to traditional polishes. The first time I remember hearing about a larger brand making halal polish was when Orly made their Breathable line a few years ago. I'm also really happy that 786 Cosmetics has included their water permeability certifications through the Kalamazoo Islamic Center and SGS Labs on their website. Whew, that's a lot of information, but it's information I think is important to know before getting to photos. The polishes retail for $12.95 each, and features cream, shimmer, and metallic finishes. Make sure to sign up for emails because they often have sales to save you some extra dough.

Zoya Cosmic Trio 2021 Limited Edition Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hello hello! Zoya has their seasonal collections as well as a few others like the Naturel line that usually comes around once a year. They also do some limited edition shades, and the trio I have to share with you tonight just so happens to be limited. I'm not sure how long these will be available, so if you find any that catch your eye, please don't wait too long to pick them up. This Cosmic Trio contains "holographic shades that are inspired by the unique star clusters of outer space. These astral shades are created with a blend of metallic glitter, and holographic particles in 5 different sizes to give a dynamic effect creating a soft textured finish, but can be paired with Ultra Glossy Top Coat to create a smooth and shiny surface." These retail for $12 each, but if you purchase the set for $36, you get all 3 polishes, 3 of their Z-wide brushes, and their glossy topcoat as well. Swatch time!

Zoya Celestia (3 coats)

Shall we start with my favorite of the 3? Celestia is a silver that leans a bit taupe with blue/purple shifting shimmer and a scattered holographic finish. I just love that pop of shimmer that contrasts from the lighter base. These are a bit sheerer, but they are designed to be that way. I didn't try them as toppers, but a few other bloggers did, and they work great as long as you use really thin coats. They dry with a little texture, but not as much as I expected. I do recommend a thick topcoat to smooth it all out though.

Zoya Eradani (2 coats)

Eradani is a bit different than the other 2. The finish isn't quite the same (the pure holo finish like the others isn't there), but that doesn't mean it isn't beautiful all the same. Eradani is a magenta microglitter with indigo shimmer and a slight holo finish. This one was more opaque, but I found the formula to be a bit gummy, so work slowly.

Zoya Polaris (3 coats)

Last, but not least we have Polaris which is a rose gold microglitter with pink/purple shimmer and a scattered holo finish. I really wanted to love this one, but I just don't think it looks great with my skintone. It's not the polish's fault...I really think this will look beautiful on lots of other people. The formula was good in 3 coats.

There you have it, a short and sweet trio. This is why I love Zoya; most mainstream brands don't do holographic polishes, especially ones with contrasting shimmers. Remember, these can go away at any moment, so pick yours up while you can.

Zoya polishes retail for $12 and you can find out more about them on their websiteFacebookTwitter, or Instagram pages. Keep an eye out for them in your local Ulta store if you want to see the bottles in person before you buy. They often have sales, so check their social media pages periodically.

Noodles Nail Polish Spring 2021 Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi everyone! It's my birthday!!! No, nothing exciting is going on...I had to work all day and have no other plans, but I do get to see my parents later in the week! It's been a whole 10 months since I've seen them, and it will be so nice to be around someone besides my husband and tiny group of co-workers (no offense to them). If you had asked me last year on my birthday whether or not we'd still be in this position over a year later, I would have said no way. Alas, maybe we're getting just a little closer to the finish line.

Tonight I've got the new 8-piece collection (7 new and 1 throwback release) from Noodles Nail Polish to share with you. It features 6 crellies in various shades and 2 glitter toppers. This set will be available this Friday, April 16th at 6 PM EST on the Noodles website. All polishes will retail for just $9.50 each. This is going to be a picture-heavy post, so we should get going.

Noodles Nail Polish Winter Collection 2021 Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hello all! How is it not Friday yet? Days during Covid seem to just drag by. I think part of it is from not having anything to really look forward to (well, I suppose you could say getting the vaccine, but that's likely far out for me). There are a few bright points of course, like getting to swatch these collections for Natalie. I've been honored to continue to be asked to review these Noodles, and having this hobby has really helped me get through some tough times. On a much brighter note, I've got a whopper of a post for you tonight. I think Natalie gets the most inspiration from fall and winter which translates to large collections. The Winter Collection is an 8-piece set that features glitter toppers, shifty shades, and loads of glitter crellies. These will also be releasing this Friday, February 5th at 5 PM EST on the Noodles Nail Polish website. Prices will vary based on the polish, so I will be labeling each polish with that info (all are either $9.50 or $10). This is going to be an extremely pic-heavy post, so we need to get started!

Noodles Nail Polish Fall Sightseeing Collection 2020 Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hi folks! I told you I'd be back tonight with the Noodles Nail Polish Fall Sightseeing Collection! Instead of the usually 6-piece set, Natalie gave us a collection with 8, all inspired by popular North Eastern towns to visit in the Fall. I'm gonna be totally honest with you: I've never been to any of these places 😬 I've been to lots of states in my day, but I've missed several states in the Northeast. I've heard that it's super popular for leafers in the fall. I lived in Knoxville, TN for about 5 years which is right next to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, so I got my leaf-seeing excursions there. The Fall Sightseeing Collection will be available tomorrow, September 25th at 5 PM EST and each polish will retail for just $9.50 each. Shall we get a closer look at them?

Zoya Sensual Fall 2019 Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

I know, I am so behind on my Zoya swatches. Eep! The good news is that Zoya rarely discontinues their polishes, and these are all still available on their website. I'll be working on my backlog to get back up-to-date. Oh, and I looked EVERYWHERE for my bottle of Vesper, but it's gone forever. I sincerely apologize for this; please feel free to Google this shade to see if you'd like to buy it. It's a super pretty color, so I am going to purchase it during the next sale for completionist reasons. The Sensual Collection is a 12-piece set that features cremes and metallics that are perfect for any time of year, not just fall. As you guys know, Zoya collections are large, so this is going to be picture-heavy, so we need to get to swatches.

Polish Pickup (PPU) June 2019: Weather Phenomenon Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! Polish Pickup (PPU) starts this Friday, and I have 3 shades to share with you tonight. This month's inspiration is weather, and I was curious to see what the maker's would come up with. Just in case this is your first PPU, here's the low-down on what to expect. First, definitely join the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. You don't necessarily need to actively participate in the group, but it will give you a look into the polishes coming in the coming month. Polish Pickup themes are chosen by the people, often a few months in advance (brands need time to find their inspiration and test their polish). Any indie brand that has been around for at least a year can participate and each has their own specific inspiration picture and polish for that month. All you need to do is go to the Polish Pickup site during the pre-order window (the first Friday-Monday of the month) to make all of your purchases of these exclusive polishes. There's no need to pay for multiple shipping charges; since this is a pre-order, all polishes get sent to Polish Pickup and they send you the polishes you ordered. Yup, it's that simple. Oh, and shipping is a flat-rate of $3 to the US ($5 for Canada and more for international). Recently they also opened a UK site which you can find here. Since all orders are pre-orders, shipping will take place about 3 weeks after the end of the pre-order

PPU starts this Friday, June 7th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, June 10th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a cap and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone) on the PPU website. Shall we go ahead and get a closer look at these beauties?

Noodles Nail Polish

Underwater Icicles (2 coats)
Price: $12
Cap: None

Up first is Noodles Nail Polish Underwater Icicles which was inspired by brincles, which are underwater icicles that form from the surface and move downward into the ocean. Google it, you'll thank me. This is a vibrant blue jelly with green/blue shifting flakes, silver and blue glitters, and fine silver metallic flakies. The beautiful flakes are the first thing that caught my eye. I was expecting to need 3 coats, but I was impressed with the opacity and it fully covered in just 2. It applied flawlessly, and dried with a little bit of texture from the flakes and glitter. If you want a smooth, glossy finish, you may want to add a second coat of topcoat.

Pepper Pot Polish

A Twister...With Teeth! (3 coats)
Price: $11
Cap: 75/US 5/UK

Mackenzie went out-of-the-box with a polish inspired by Sharknado! I've only seen one of them, but it was very memorable. You guys know how I feel about contrasting shimmers, and this one is a stunner. It's a greige crelly base with contrasting blue shimmer, and ultrachrome flakies. The base is perfectly shark-colored, and the blue just pops. I found the formula to be perfect, although it was a bit sheer. I needed to use 3 heavy coats for the photos above (if you use really thin ones, you may need a fourth). It dried with no texture and was easy to remove.

Starlight Polish

St. Elmo's Fire (2 coats over a black creme)
Price: $15
Cap: 230 bottles

Issa is the queen of shimmer toppers, and this month's inspiration is St. Elmo's Fire which is often seen by sailors and pilots. It's a color-shifting topper with blue to purple UP sibling pigment, blue to purple iridescent glitters, blue to purple translucent flakes, and a touch of silver sparkle. I went with 2 thin coats over black to get the full effect, but you could definitely get away with just 1. It dried quickly and with no texture. This one just glows on the nail and I love it.

The website is open for wishlists now, so fill up that cart. I've been scoping out the website since Sunday, and my list keeps getting longer. Don't forget, the shop opens at 11:00 AM, and some items go quickly. You can find out more about PPU on their Facebook page and website.
