Static Lacquer Primary Collection Swatches and Reviews + Cuticle Oil + Magnets!

*press samples*

Hi guys! TGIF! It was a short week for me at work, but it still felt long. I was in Baltimore working all last weekend, which is the reason for my semi-long break from the blog. Tonight I have a new permanent collection from Static Lacquer, as well as some new items hitting the shop. These are available now, so make sure to check out the site for everything shown here.

The new Primary Collection will always be available and restocked in the shop. They all stamp and watermarble for all you great artists out there. As you know, I'm not one of them. I did manage to get a few photos of some simple stamping just so you can see how well they work. They are available individually for $10, or $45 for the 5-piece collection. Just want a trio of the yellow, red, and blue? No problem, these will be available for $28. Perhaps the staples black and white are all you need? You'll save yourself $1.50 and get the duo for just $18.50.

Formula
All 5 polishes were easy to work with. The only one that I felt could really use the second coat was the yellow, which is no surprise for that shade. As you can see below, I used 2 coats for all my swatches. Macro settings and bright lighting show every imperfection, which is why I opted to apply a second coat. When using these at home, you would be more than happy with just 1 coat (minus maybe the yellow). I should also mention that these dry with a satin finish due to how pigmented they are. If you want that shiny finish, make sure to grab your favorite topcoat.

Static Lacquer Primary Black (2 coats)

Listen, there are many issues that came up when I decided to stamp. First, I lost the stamp I usually use. I had to use one of those really cheap and small ones that don't work well with the strong 'C' curve of my nail (and is too short for my nail bed). Second, I never got the chance to use the Halloween plate I bought last year, so of course I decided to go ahead and use that one. In March. I totally expect to be judged for that. Anyway, if you want a great basic 1-coat black, here it is. It will make a great base for your nail art, or shifty UP-filled polishes.

Static Lacquer Primary Blue (2 coats)

Up next is a Primary Blue which is a bright cobalt blue creme.

Static Lacquer Primary Red (2 coats)

Primary Red is your bright tomato red creme. With topcoat, it has a nice squishiness to it.

Static Lacquer Primary White (2 coats)

Calling all artists! A stark white creme is what everyone needs.

Static Lacquer Primary Yellow (2 coats)

Last, but not least is Primary Yellow which is a canary yellow creme. Again, this is the only one I thought really needed a second coat. That's really saying something because most yellows need 3 coats and are a pain to apply. I'm digging this one a lot more than I was expecting to!

New Items to the Shop

MAGNETS! These are neodymium mini magnets that come as 4-packs for $5. They are approximately 12 mm and I went ahead an gave a size comparison because I'm more of a visual person. All magnets are decorated with your favorite Static Lacquer shades including some limited edition, PPU, or other collaboration shades. You will get a random assortment unless specifically requested. I immediately put mine on my Helmers, but they can easily be used on refrigerators, whiteboard calendars, or in the office.

And Static Lacquer now has cuticle oils! Stacy took her time with the ingredients and came up with a really nourishing and moisturizing formula. It does take a few minutes to absorb, but it's still lightweight. The ingredients include Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Argan Oil, Sunflower Oil, Vitamin E , and fragrance, if chosen. They are currently available in 5 mL droppers for only $3, but brush pens will be coming soon. The scent list is quite extensive, and Stacy also includes the top, middle, and bottom notes for each scent which I appreciate.

I chose Strawberry Shortcake and Blackcurrant Absinthe to try out. Strawberry Shortcake is sugary and sweet, but not cloying or overpowering. It adds a nice hint of scent without being headache-inducing. Sometimes strawberry scents can smell really artificial, but I didn't find that with this scent at all. The Blackcurrant Absinthe scent is stronger, likely due to the base notes in it. When you hurl around anise, patchouli, and amber scents, it's no surprise it has more throw. And don't worry, it doesn't smell like patchouli or anything. The fruity top and middle notes mellows it all out. I've only been using the cuticle oil for a week or 2 so I can't claim any long-term results, but it has done a great job at keeping my nails and cuticles in top shape.

What an awesome set from Static Lacquer! Don't forget, everything is available now for purchase. You can check out Static Lacquer on their websiteFacebookGroup, and Instagram pages.

Pretty Woman Designer Nails Artificial Nail Kit Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! My family is in town, but I wanted to do a quick review of a product I've never shown on the blog - artificial/press-on nails! You know I'm terrible at nail art, so this is a quick and easy way to get nail art. I have 2 sets to show you today, but make sure to follow me on Instagram because I'll be giving away 3 sets of these to a lucky winner! Pretty Woman NYC has been around since 2000, and they have press-on nails in various shapes and lengths for all nails. My nails are really long right now so I was sent a set of round and stiletto nails to try out. Hit that "read more" button to see my thoughts.

My Indie Shop: Atlanta Recap Part III

Hi guys! Welcome back to my review of the Indie Shop: Atlanta. I know it is taking awhile to post everything, but in the end I think it's easier. If I made just one post, it would be huge. This way I have the chance to really talk about my experience at the tables.

If you know anything about indie nail polish, then you've heard about KBShimmer. They had 2-3 tables of items, when most other brands had one. Everyone was slowly going through the line to get to the polishes, so my husband was able to take a lot of photos of the tables. Christy and her husband were the only people at the table, so they were hustling the whole time. I didn't get a chance to chat with them, but when I asked a couple questions, they were quick to answer me with a friendly face. The table was organized well with the bath & body items on one side and polishes/nail care on the other.

A quick look at all of the tables. The area closest to us had the bath and body products and the far side had the polishes. Christy seemed to be working on the polish side while her husband did a little of both.

There was a show special going on where you could get any 6 polishes and the holo bag for $50. My budget didn't let me take advantage of the deal, but I know lots of others did.

I Never Wood Have Guessed (right) and It's Petrifying (left) were the KBShimmer show exclusives

And she brought some unicorn sugar scrubs

She had tons of cuticle oils, Picture Perfect Matte Cuticle Cream (which I bought 2 of), and body lotion.

She also brought some rainbow nail tools which look so much cooler than my standard silver ones.

I showed their first banner in Part I of the recap this was her beautiful second one.

I believe they are getting rid of their water decals (and maybe vinyls?) so they had some mystery bags for only $10. I'm terrible at nail art so I didn't get one.

The first of several polish racks. She debuted the spring 2017 Natui by Nature Collection at the show as well.

More polishes. My husband was amused by the polish names (especially I Wet My Plants).

She had nail sticks of all of the polishes which helped you decide (if you didn't already have your phone out to look at blog swatches).

The Colors by Llarowe table was located in the back corner with 2 tables. Leah Ann had a helper named Anissa who helped me with my polishes. Unfortunately for me (and fortunately for her) her table was slammed with customers (I was never able to get close to 95% of the regular stock). Pretty much all of my pictures are from the end without the crowd.

This was the trio in collaboration with The Jedi Wife. These are for sale on the Colors by Llarowe site right now if you weren't able to attend.

I didn't get a chance to look at the name of this one, but I'm sure someone will tell me. I'll update this when I find out!

Ribbit Stickits

You guys know I'm terrible at nail art so I didn't spend too much time at the table. Kristy is the owner of the brand and was really nice (and didn't grill me on why I'm so bad at art). She had vinyls, decals, latex barrier, and vinyl stickers.

Cutest logo ever.

So many decals with a cute presentation. How many times can I use the word cute for their table? Answer: too many

I got one of these for my Helmer.

If you look at the bottom of the table you can see some vinyl stickers that say The Indie Shop Atlanta 2017. Yup, another sticker for my Helmer.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you're enjoying the photos and reviews! I still have a few more tables to show, so stop back soon!

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Limited Edition Insta-Dri 4th of July Swatches and Reviews

Sally Hansen Quick Brick (2 coats)

Sally Hansen just renamed this polish because I found some swatches online that were obviously not this same true tomato red creme color. This had the best application and formula of the three and only needed 2 easy coats.

Sally Hansen Tag, Ur It! (2 coats)

Tag, Ur It! is a stark white creme that is a bit streaky on the first coat, but evens out fairly well on the second. I do wish it was more self-leveling than it is.

Sally Hansen Vandal Eyes (3 coats)

Vandal Eyes is a sky blue color with very subtle shimmer. Let's just go ahead and call this a creme because you can't see any shimmer here. It was quite sheer and needed 3 coats for full opacity.

Happy (almost) 4th of July to those in the US. I know, I forgot to wish my Canadian friends Happy Canada Day, sorry! Today I have a limited edition set of Insta-Dri polishes from Sally Hansen for this special day. While not all of them are true American colors (I'm looking at you, Vandal Eyes), they are still pretty. I'm still not a fan of the wide, tapered brushes on these polishes, especially with the narrow bottle top. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

These will run you about $5 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.
