My Noodles Nail Polish Collaboration: Cheerio Waterbus

 *press sample*

Hi everyone! I've been keeping a secret for the past couple months. Surprise! I collaborated with Natalie from Noodles Nail Polish to make a polish inspired by a fountain pen ink my husband and I worked on! I don't mention it much, but my day job is a nib specialist at a fountain pen company. I know, it's quite the unique job. My husband is also into pens and actually has a YouTube channel reviewing various stationery items including pens, ink, and paper accessories if you're interested in checking it out.

The corresponding ink, Cheerio Waterbus, was made by Pennonia Ink, a small maker based out of Hungary. You may be asking yourself, "what's with the name?" You know how we say things that rhyme like "See you later, alligator?" Well, other languages have the same thing, and in Hungarian it's "Szervusz vĂzibusz" which translates to "cheerio waterbus." My husband loved it and thought it would be a perfect name for an ink. What better than to have a Hungarian ink maker to make an ink inspired by a Hungarian phrase?

If you are an ink fan, you will be able to purchase the ink and the nail polish both from my husband's web store here starting tomorrow (April 22nd) at 8 PM EST. Both are pre-orders and will be available for a week (or while supplies last for the ink) and will be shipped out as soon I receive the polish from Natalie. What if you aren't interested in the ink at all and just want the pretty nail polish? Good news! Natalie has said that she will be releasing some bottles of Cheerio Waterbus during her Spring 2022 Collection release on April 29th (which I'll be posting in the very near future). Oh, and the polish will retail for $10 each. Shall we get to more photos?

What makes this ink special is that it contains a fine blue pigment that dries on top of the base ink color which is a beautiful emerald color. The wetter the nib, the more blue the ink will look. Cool, right?

Noodles Nail Polish Cheerio Waterbus (3 coats)

Here we have Cheerio Waterbus the polish which is a sheer turquoise green base with strong emerald blue duochrome finish. When in bright lighting, the predominate color is the green, but under lower light, the blue really comes out, especially at an angle. I went ahead and used 3 thin coats for my swatches, but you may be able to get away with 2 if you have shorter nails, or use thicker coats. It dries a little dull, so I recommend a shiny topcoat to make the duochrome really pop.

As you can see, Natalie did an amazing job making this ink come to life in nail polish form. If you're interested in both the ink and polish, stop by the Inkdependence store tomorrow, otherwise just wait for the April 29th release on the Noodles site. Thank you so much to everyone for your support!

*These polishes were provided by the company or PR representative. All reviews are based solely on my opinion. For more information, please see my full disclosure at the bottom of the site*

MLF Lacquer Lovers Collection February 2019 Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! I meant to have this post up yesterday, but I'm afraid I've caught a bug. I'm still hopeful that I'm not "sick" and it's just my body fighting off infection. That said, there's no rest for the wicked, so onward and upward. Tonight I am so excited to show you the debut collection from the new brand, MLF Lacquer. The shop just opened last night, so these are currently available for purchase. MLF Lacquer stands for Much Love Forever and was inspired by a love for colors, creativity, and nail polish. The initials are also a tribute to Jessica's daughter, Makayla, as they are her initials. I'm sad to report that she passed away from kidney cancer in 2017. What a touching tribute to her daughter. 😢Here is some more information about Jessica and the company:

"My name is Jessica Bumgardner. I currently work full-time as a nurse, but I am putting a lot of time and energy into launching my new business. I have a passion for helping others, especially in times of trouble. I also love helping others find the beauty in themselves, and, of course, nail polish. I will strive to release a quality product with reasonable prices and innovative colors. My goal is always to provide top notch customer service. MLF Lacquer is a brand new small business ran by one person."

The debut collection, The Lovers Collection, is a 4-piece set with names inspired by the Taylor Swift song, "You Are in Love." Each polish is vegan and 5-Free, and retails for $9 each, or $35 for the set. These pictures are hot off the presses, so let's get a closer look.

Noodles Nail Polish Winter 2019 Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! It's been a busy week for the blog, and we're not done yet. Tonight I've got the Noodles Nail Polish Winter Collection to share with you. This is quite appropriate since so many people are experiencing the Arctic blast hitting the US this week. Please be safe, and make sure to take care of all your pets, too. The set consists of 5 crellies and 1 jelly polish (with a bonus re-release of last year's Eskimo Kiss...Natalie didn't have the recipe anymore, so she recreated it as version 2.0). These will release with the Valentine's Day duo on 2/1/19 at 6:00 PM ET on the new Noodles Nail Polish website. They will retail for $9.50 or $10 depending on the shade (I'll label each with the price below). Enough chatting, shall we get to the good stuff?

Polish Pickup (PPU) July 2018 Rewind: Colors by Llarowe (CbL) 40 Going on 26

Colors by Llarowe 49 Going on 26 (2 coats, artificial light)

Colors by Llarowe 40 Going on 26 (2 coats, natural light)

Hi guys, it's going to be a quick post tonight because you have only 3 hours to get this polish before it goes away forever. CbL rereleased 40 Going on 26 for the Polish Pickup Rewind. It is available for just $9 until midnight tonight so get over there ASAP! Leah also just released a new nail and body care line, Care by Llarowe, and I've really been loving the Nail and Cuticle Butter

40 Going on 26 is a blue/purple/pink multichrome with a silver holographic flake finish. The shift is most apparent in low light which is why I added that last photo taken with my phone. The resolution isn't the greatest, but you can see the shift so much more. The formula was slightly on the thinner side without being problematic, and I needed just 2 coats for full coverage. I should have bought this the first time around, so I was ecstatic to have a second chance. There is no free shipping this month, so the polish was discounted to $9 to make up for that. Find out more about Leah and CbL on their websiteInstagramTwitter, and Facebook Pages while you can learn more about Polish Pickup on their Facebook page and website.

Tonic Nail Polish June 2018 Releases Swatch and Review: Jubilee (magnetic)

Tonic Nail Polish Jubilee (2 coats)

Hi guys! Magnetic multichrome polishes have been all the rage lately, and I'm just now jumping on the bandwagon. I've resisted all releases until Tonic came out with Jubilee, shown above. I tried my first Tonic polishes last year and I found the formula to be thicker than I preferred. They've had polishes that interested me, but I held off because of the formula. After I saw swatches from the Tonic June releases, I finally bit the bullet again.

Jubilee has the same base pigment as Peacock Parade, a shade they released previously. It flashes blue/green/purple/pink/gold, depending on the angle. I had to purchase the magnet separately ($2) because this is the first magnetic polish I've used in several years. Applying Jubilee is different than other polishes. After your preferred basecoat, apply one coat and let dry for an extra minute. For the second coat, you'll need to work one nail at a time, applying one thicker coat, and then placing the magnet as close to the nail as possible for about 30 seconds. I left it over the nail as long as possible to get a good line. My nails are very curved, so I was curious how well the magnet would work. As you can see, it worked pretty well....except for the pinkie nail. For some reason the particles scattered a little more on that nail. As for the formula, I'm very happy to say that it was much easier to apply than my other Tonics. It's still slightly thick, but in a good way. I think there will be more Tonics in my future.

This one is still available and retails for $13 without the magnet. I am so impressed with this one and it's such an eye magnet (pun intended). You can find out more information about Tonic on their websiteInstagram, and (their extremely popular) Facebook Group pages.

JReine May 2018 Hella Handmade Creations (HHC) Exclusive: Carnival Nights

*press sample*

Hi guys! I have an extra special weekend edition post for tonight. I never really bought anything from Hella Holo Customs previously, but they recently did a full revamp of their business and it's now called Hella Handmade Creations and it's open to everyone. Previously you could only buy and sell through the Facebook group or you'd get in trouble. I didn't like the hassle it all seemed, but now you get a full week to openly purchase these exclusive polishes with no strings attached. It seems very similar to Polish Pickup in that lots of brands release LE polishes and the polish is sent out about 3-4 weeks after the end of the pre-order. I am super excited to feature a new brand to the blog that has a new color releasing this Monday, May 14th. Jill is the mastermind behind JReine Cosmetics, and she has been delightful to work with. Carnival Nights will be on pre-order between May 14-21 and will retail for $13 for a 0.5 oz (15 ml) bottle (no cap).

JReine Carnival Nights (2 coats)

Carnival Nights was inspired by a New Orleans Endymion parade photo and boy does it show! This polish has a bit of everything and I love it! It has a blue/green/purple shift depending on the angle, linear holo sparkles, and silver and gold flake finish. The flakes take over in lower light while the holo finish stands out in sunlight or bright light. The formula was perfect in just 2 coats, and it dried with no texture.

Carnival Nights is one of those polishes that's a must have. It stands out and I received several compliments at work. JReine has a wide variety of other polishes and finishes in her Etsy shop, so make sure to check those out, too! This one will be available this Monday through Monday, May 21st. You can find out more about JReine on their website, Instagram page, Facebook, or Facebook Fan Group

Polish Pickup April 2018 Swatches and Reviews: Polished for Days Solar Flare and Alter Ego Altarf aka Beta Cancri

Hi guys! I hope the start of the week is off to a bang. I did exactly what I said I'd do this past weekend except I forgot to mention I was heading to Penzey's Spices to buy approximately 1 ton of spices I don't necessarily need. Oops, no regrets. Tonight I have 2 of the 3 April Polish Pickup colors I received last week. Don't worry, I'll have the Scofflaw Nail Polish up as soon as I can. If you haven't heard about Polish Pickup, let me give you a quick recap. First, definitely join the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. You don't necessarily need to actively participate in the group, but it will give you a look into the polishes coming that month. Do you hate it when a new indie box comes out with multiple brands and you only really love one of the colors? What do you do then? Destash the ones you don't want? Just suck it up and buy it and keep them all because you're too lazy to destash? Well, there's now a group and website called Polish Pickup that will open for suggestions for box themes for the upcoming month. Everyone votes, and the winner becomes the theme for a future box. Indie  brands that have been around for at least a year are welcome to apply and each brand has their own specific inspiration picture and polish for that month. All you need to do is go to the Polish Pickup site during the pre-order window (the first Friday-Monday of the month) to make all of your purchases of these exclusive polishes. There's no need to pay for multiple shipping charges; since this is a pre-order, all polishes get sent to Polish Pickup and they send you the polishes you ordered. Yup, it's that simple. Oh, and shipping is a flat-rate of $3 to the US (more for Canada and international). With that out of the way, shall we look at these beauties?

My Polish Pickup Picks From April 2018: Space

Hi guys! Tonight I'm doing something a little different. I made this little video about my Polish Pickup colors from this month. I don't have any swatches yet, but I went through each color and did a little description and video here. I wasn't planning on putting it on the blog, but I figured there's no reason not to. Oh, and please don't make fun of me for not knowing what scofflaw meant. Make sure to check out the Polish Pickup Pack Facebook Group for more information (May's theme is the 90s and I can't wait!).

Vapid Lacquer Swatches and Reviews: Crab Nebula Dirty XXX and Waxing Poetic

Hi guys! This week has been flying by, and it'll be the weekend before you know it. I'll be doing a little traveling next week, so who knows what the blog schedule will be. Tonight I have a couple random polishes from Vapid Lacquer that I bought during the annual Purge. I bought more bath and body products than polishes, so I think I have just one more to show you at some point. Neither of these are currently for sale, but February is the maker's birthday month, so there are usually some new goodies that make their way back to the website. I highly recommend you join the Vapid Lacquer Facebook Group (Vapicorns) to get the most up-to-date info about the company and releases. Swatch time!

Noodles Nail Polish Winter and Valentine's Day 2018 Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! Tonight I have 2 collections from Noodles Nail Polish that are being released this Friday, January 2nd at 6 PM EST. I had the chance to try one of Natalie's polishes a few months back when she was the guest spot in the For the Love of Polish box. I don't think I reviewed it here on the blog, but that's just because the polish was exclusive to the box and no longer available. When I was asked if I was interested in reviewing more polishes, of course I jumped at the chance. The first collection is a 6-piece winter set, while the second is a Valentine's Day trio. These will be available individually, or as a 9-piece set with special pricing ($80). All polishes except for Bundled Up (the holo one-$10) will retail for $9.50 apiece. This is a long post with lots of pictures, so let's settle in.

Oh, and a congratulations is in order for Noodles Nail Polish because they were voted the #3 top brand for crelly polishes from the Indie Swatch Awards.

TL;DR I love these polishes.

Quixotic Polish The Vere Suo Trio Swatches and Reviews

Hi guys! I hope you had a great weekend. It was our local holiday parade and we were in it because Scraggles (our dog) was featured with her doggy daycare friends. Here's a pic of us right before the parade:

And no, her tongue isn't normally that long. She gets nervous in cars and was panting like crazy on the way. Tonight I have a gorgeous trio to show you from the indie brand Quixotic Polish. I've been lucky to feature Mary's polishes previously, and she has been rocking it in the Polish Pickup group. The Vere Suo trio was released awhile back, but it's still available, and on sale for $20! Hit that "Read More" button below to see the full reviews.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Through the Stone Collection Swatches and Review: I Was Born For You

Anchor & Heart I Was Born For You (3 coats)

Hi guys! I know, it's been awhile. I was in Denver for 4 days, but I think this should be the last weekend I will be traveling for work this year. As soon as I got home I had some in-laws at the house so I've been busy at the home front as well. Other than that, not much is going on with me. Tonight I have a new brand on the blog. I've been meaning to try Anchor & Heart for months, and after seeing bottle shots from the Through the Stone Collection, I knew I needed to bite the bullet and finally purchase. Multichrome polishes are still all the rage, but I've been trying to be a bit more selective on the polishes I buy because some are very similar.

I Was Born For You is a blackened plum base with flashes of emerald and blue. It also has a sprinkling of iridescent holographic microglitter and a scattered holographic finish as seen in the last photo. It slightly reminds me Whooo Are Youuu from Vapid Lacquer, so if you weren't able to buy that one, you may want to purchase this one. It doesn't have the exact same shift, and Vapid's has the larger microflakes which isn't in Anchor & Heart. It applied perfectly in 3 coats. Depending on your application, you may be able to get away with just 2 coats. Even with the microglitter, not too much elbow grease was needed for removal.

The Through the Stone Collection is currently not for sale, but good news, the pre-order starts on Oct. 13th and will continue through Oct. 16th. Each polish is $12 each, or you can purchase the whole collection for $77 (a saving of $1 per polish).  I've been really impressed with other polishes Taryn has released recently, so I will definitely be making another order. You can learn more about Anchor & Heart on their website, Instagram, Facebook, or Facebook Fan group page.

Lollipop Posse Lacquer Summer 2017 Mix Tape: Overdrive Edition: But My Hands are Busy in the Air and She Lives On the Borderline

Hi guys! Tonight I have a new brand on the blog, and I've been meaning to try them for months. When I saw swatches from the Lollipop Posse Lacquer Summer 2017 collection I knew I had to get a couple. I ordered on August 8th and received my shipping notice on the 13th. When the package didn't move for over a week I went ahead and e-mailed them. Apparently three labels were misplaced and mine was one of them. Karen shipped the items the next day and gave me a 20% discount on my next order to make up for the delay. I must say, it was all handled quickly and professionally and I'll definitely be back to order more items. A+ for customer service. Now how are the polishes?

Quixotic Polish Facebook Fan Group Exclusive Trio Swatches and Reviews

Hi guys! TGIF! I don't really have too many plans for this weekend, but that's fine. I think I'll just rest tomorrow and then run some errands on Sunday. Quick question: does anyone have any recommendations for shows on Netflix or Amazon? I have 2 episodes of The Night Manager with Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston left and then I'm out of shows. My husband says I should watch Riverdale, but I haven't started it. Unfortunately the trio I'm going to show you is a Quixotic Polish Facebook Fan Group exclusive, and it's no longer for sale. I'm telling you, you need to join the group for all of the exclusives and discounts. Mary just released a new trio inspired by Greek beaches so make sure to check those out while they're around. If you love purple, you're in for some beauties tonight.

Quixotic Polish Swatches and Reviews: Cher's Favorite Sparkle and Inner Sparkle

Hi guys! It was yet another manic Monday after a nice weekend. My husband and I went to see Spiderman: Homecoming this weekend, and I really loved Tom Holland as Peter Parker. If you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend it. We also took Scraggles hiking again, and she is such a little adventurer! She hates going outside if it's raining (we call her Princess Paws), but she was walking through some streams with no issue. Tonight I have a new brand to the blog called Quixotic Polish. I joined the Facebook Group about a month ago, and Mary, the maker, had just released a new trio. Unfortunately this trio is no longer available, but I hope you're ok with me still showing them this week. On the bright side, the polishes I'm showing tonight are still for sale, and are even on sale right now! Shall we get to it?

Literary Lacquers Ocean at the End of the Lane Trio Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! For some reason this week has been flying by. Things have been going fine here. We are watching our friend's two cats while they are away in Europe for ~6 weeks. Yeah, having 3 cats is enough. The ones we're watching (Jack and Molly) are very sweet, but it is so much more work. Well, my husband is only teaching online courses this summer, so he ends up doing most of the legwork when it comes to the cats (thanks, Mike!). Tonight I'm swatching a new brand on the blog. I've admired Amy from Literary Lacquers from afar for several years, so I'm extremely honored to be able to swatch these for you. Literary Lacquers is coming back after a little hiatus and will feature a brand new trio, as well as a relaunch of 24 fan favorites. And if that isn't sweet enough, there will be a gift-with-purchase during the relaunch which will get you a free mini polish with a $20 purchase, and a full-sized bottle with order over $50.

The relaunch will be happening this Friday, June, 23, noon MDT, so set your calendars. Tonight I'll be showing you the trio called Ocean at the End of the Lane which is inspired by the book by Neil Gaiman. Confession time: I've never read anything by Gaiman, but my husband is a big fan. For each polish I'll give my thoughts and description, as well as the passage for which each polish is inspired. Without further ado, let's get to it!
