Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey Cosmetics Mystery Bag Nail Polish Swatches and Reviews

Hi guys! I can't believe it's Wednesday already. Two of my cats (I have 3) went to the vet today and they are in good health. They are 10 years old and it shocks me every time I think about it. Mr. Nose is the biggest ham and loves going to the vet because he loves the extra attention. They ended up taking pictures of him to put on their Facebook page...he's that much of a goofball. In nail polish news, I just recently stopped my Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag subscription. It is definitely one I would go back to as soon as I pare down on some of my untrieds. Some of these colors are older, but I'm pretty sure they are still available. Let's get started, shall we?

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey Cosmetics Swatches and Reviews: Calama and Costa Dorada

Happy Friday! If you live on the east coast, try to stay dry and safe. I made my first broadcast on Periscope today, so come find me there and on Twitter @rightonthenail! I talked about what polish I'm wearing today as well as some of my thoughts on some of the new fall collections. I'm finally getting caught up on my backlog of Rainbow Honey polishes, so follow me after the break to continue on this journey.

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey Swatches and Review: Crimson Nebula and Neon Yoshimi

Hi guys! Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but my parents were around so I decided to just take another day off and start out the week with a post instead. It's been so dreary and rainy here lately. The best part? It's supposed to rain all week. Blah. The only bright part of my day has been painting my nails. Check out some swatches of recently released Rainbow Honey polishes after the break.

Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag Swatches and Reviews: Laguna Grande and Thallo Bot

Hi guys, I hope your weekend went well! It was fairly low key around here, and the weather has decided to give us a taste of fall today. Tonight I have a couple polishes from the indie brand Rainbow Honey that releases their mystery bags every month. Follow me after the break for 2 colors recently released in their mystery bags.

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey February 2015 Mystery Bag Swatches and Review: Tsukimi

Rainbow Honey Tsukimi (2 coats)

Hi guys! Sorry for not posting last night, but I've been working a ton and didn't have a chance to get anything up. Next month isn't going to be much better with me having to go to Stanford for a big, fancy piece of equipment. I'll be gone for over a week, so hopefully I can get ahead and start making some posts.

I'm slowly starting to get through my Rainbow Honey stash and I have Tsukimi for your viewing pleasure. It's a fuchsia/violet hybrid with tons of blue and silver(?) glitter. I can see mainly hexagonal glitters, but there are a few triangles and squares in there as well. I like the color combination, but I did not like the formula or application. I found it to be extremely thick and gloopy. Thankfully it only needed 2 coats for full coverage because a third would have looked like crap.

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey The Summer of 199X Collection Swatches and Review: Magic Cake

*an extra included in my purchased Limited Edition Frosted Flame Bliss Set*

Rainbow Honey Magic Cake (2 coats) over 2 coats pink

Happy Saturday! I went to the Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh today for their Annual Raulston Blooms Festival and it was great fun. Oh, and the weather was just perfect. Tomorrow is my birthday so hopefully some fun will be had (despite it being on a Sunday).

Oops, I sort of don't remember what base I was using for the Rainbow Honey Magic Cake glitter topper. My bad! The main focus here is the glitter, though. Magic Cake has pink, yellow and blue glitter in hexagonal and square shapes. This is like a carnival in a bottle! Usually the Rainbow Honey glitters are extremely thick, but I was able to use 2 coats with no issues. This is currently out of stock on the Rainbow Honey website, but perhaps it will be available when they restock next month.

*This polish was an extra in a purchased set by the company or PR representative. All reviews are based solely on my opinion. For more information, please see my full disclosure at the bottom of the site*

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey Janurary Mystery Bag Swatches and Review: Rosey Bot

Rainbow Honey Rosey Bot (2 coats)

I have been absolutely terrible about posting lately. I do have a reason this time! I found out late yesterday that I had to go out and sample soils today. I had a ton of stuff to put together yesterday, so blogging sort of got pushed to the back burner. Sorry!

Whoa, Rainbow Honey had an interesting color in their January Mystery Bag ($12.95 including shipping for the mini bag) called Rosey Bot. I didn't find the color to be very rosey in color, but it's not quite as orange as it looks in my pictures. I find it to be more of a peach color with some pink undertones. And just look at that cool silver sheen! It really stands out, but can make a lot of skintones look a bit red. I have always been happy with the Rainbow Honey bags, and I think they are well worth the price. What do you think?

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey Swatches and Review: Control

Rainbow Honey Control (2 coats)

So fess up, how many of you already have your brackets for March Madness completely messed up? I think I'm ok so far, but there are definitely some upsets that I missed!

Tonight I have a Rainbow Honey polish from the Summer Mixed Tape Collection called Control. It's a bright fuchsia with tons of purple/pink microflakes. Usually I have to use 3 coats for Rainbow Honey polishes, but this one was extremely opaque in just 2. I found the formula to be a bit thick, but I'm used to that with the brand. Just remember, it's almost Friday! Oh, and don't forget about my giveaway that ends this weekend.

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag Swatches and Review: Aurora

Rainbow Honey Aurora (3 coats)

Happy Friday! Today's polish comes from the Rainbow Honey mystery bag (only $10 for the mini bag) and is several months old. Yeah, I don't even want to say what month's bag this came in. Better late than never, right? Aurora is a beautiful shimmer packed with colors of blue, green, gold and silver in a clear base. This is another one of those colors that you don't know if it's supposed to be a topper or a polish on its own. Well, the first coat is extremely sheer, but you can build it up to full opacity in around 3 coats. Unlike some Rainbow Honey polishes that can get thick after a couple coats, this one had no problems. For some reason it reminds me a little of Zoya Hazel (perhaps it is just the blue and gold in it), but with just shimmer and no metallic element. This is a pain to take off, but well worth it.

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey January Mystery Bag Swatches and Review: Dirty Martini

Rainbow Honey Dirty Martini (3 coats)

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday! I had to do some errands after work so I just ran out of time. And I watched The Bachelor *hangs head in shame*. Have I mentioned how much I love the new bottles and larger mini sizes in the Rainbow Honey Bags? Yes? Well, it's worth mentioning again. Tonight I have Dirty Martini which is a mint green crelly with brown glitter and blue microshimmer. For real, why isn't this called Mint Chocolate Chip? I guess I'm missing something about a Dirty Martini. Anyway, this was a bit sheer, needing 3 coats, but it is so worth it. I love that the brown glitter is small and all the same size. And the blue microshimmer?! Beautiful. If you can get this, definitely pick it up.

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey Swatches and Review: Frozen Flame

Rainbow Honey Frozen Flame (2 coats) over a Sally Hansen Green

Hello hello! I've been swatching the Zoya Satins, so stay tuned for those this week. If you love soft shades, you will love this 6-piece collection. Tonight I have something completely the opposite of the Zoya Satins, and that is Rainbow Honey Frozen Flame which is a party in a bottle. Basically it has gold and holographic bar glitter of different sizes, as well as multiple colors of hexagonal glitter. I meant to post this as a fun topper for New Year's Eve, but I completely forgot about it. This did not come in a mystery bag; I bought the Frozen Flame Set which included things like lotion, cuticle oil, and body spray all with the Frozen Flame scent. I was happy that with 2 coats the polish didn't get really thick like some Rainbow Honey polishes can get (perhaps because this was a full sized bottle?). Currently Rainbow Honey is closed, but will open shortly for the February restock.

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag October 2014 Swatch and Review: Zi

Rainbow Honey Zi (3 coats)

Happy Saturday! I know, I'm showing an October polish, but I hope you still want to see it. Rainbow Honey's Zi is a medium purple with blue, purple, pink and silver microglitter. It's very pretty, but I always have a problem with the polish starting out with a regular formula, and by the third coat, it's a thick mess. Does anyone else have this problem? Zi still needed 3 coats despite it getting thick. Either way, it's a really pretty color. You can get the mini Mystery Bag for only $10 and it's a great deal. You get polishes and other bath products in beautiful scents every month.

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey October Mystery Bag Swatch & Review: Cafe Con Leche

Rainbow Honey Cafe Con Leche (2 coats)

When I first opened my October Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag, I was surprised to find only 2 nail polishes (1 was a full sized basecoat). I was also a little surprised to see this light brown polish with gold and silver flakes called Cafe Con Leche. The name is oh so appropriate, but a lot of people worry about colors like these. These almost nude colors can look really bad with some skintones so I'm surprised they busted this out for October. I like the concept, but I don't really like it on me. I do appreciate the pretty flakes they put in there though. Unlike the application problems I sometimes have with Rainbow Honey minis, this one was perfect in 2 coats.

November Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag Swatch & Review: Grayscale

Rainbow Honey Grayscale (2 coats)

Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I took a few days off and even left my nails alone. Before I chopped my nails, I got the polishes from the November Rainbow Honey mini Mystery Bag. I was immediately drawn to Grayscale which is a charcoal grey with flakes they claim to be white and silver. For some reason I think it looks like it has gold flakes. Is it just me? Rainbow Honey polishes are interesting to apply. The first coat is fine, but the formula quickly gets thick. Anyone else? If I have to do 3 coats, I always want to add thinner, but to really assess the formula, I don't.

I hope you have the day off and a fun weekend!

Right on the Nail ~ Rainbow Honey September Mystery Bag Swatches and Reviews: Salacia and Sugarberries

Rainbow Honey Salacia (3 coats)

Rainbow Honey Sugarberries (3 coats)

I'm so far behind on the Rainbow Honey Mystery Bags! Eek! Today I have 2 of the 3 polishes from the September bag with the first being Salacia. I for some reason thought I was going to get this one opaque on its own, but unfortunately it just doesn't quite get there with 3 heavy coats. Of course, the VNL is more noticeable in the pictures than real life. It's a bright marine green with blue undertones with a sprinkling of various shapes of glitter. This one is ok; maybe I would have liked it better had I used it as a glitter topcoat.

I'm in love with the second polish called Sugarberries! It contains berry colored glitter in a red jelly base. There is an abundance of large holographic hexagonal glitter (very easy to get out) as well as some yellow or gold glitter.

Mini mystery bags cost $9.99 without shipping of $3.95 or full-sized ones for $25 and that is with shipping. Also, with every $65 spent, you get a free mini mystery bag. So do you subscribe?

Rainbow Honey July 2014 Mystery Bag Swatch and Review: Deep Heart Sea

Rainbow Honey Deep Heart Sea (2 coats) over 2 coats Rainbow Honey 488nm

Happy Labor Day! I spent the day driving, but I'm back in NC and ready to get back to some major swatching . As you can see, I'm back to July's Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag, and September's bag will be here before you know it. I WILL get ahead at some point. Deept Heart Sea is a blue jelly base with neon glitters and white hearts in purple shimmer. It's quite intense for sure. The formula is quite thick due to the glitter, so the best way to apply it is the dab and place the glitter where you want it. I think if you add thinner, the glitter would sink. Anyway, it's still a fun glitter topcoat!

Rainbow Honey August 2014 Mystery Bag Swatch and Review: 488nm

Rainbow Honey 488nm (2 coats)

Don't forget to sign up for my Barielle giveaway....there haven't been a ton of entries, so you have a good chance of winning! Whew, yesterday really wore me out! I'm in Knoxville visiting my family (happy belated blog birthday to my brother) and we went to Boomsday which is an awesome display of fireworks that brings people out from all over Tennessee. This also means a ton of walking so I'm a bit sore today.

I realize that I haven't shown any of the Rainbow Honey August bag polishes, so here is 488nm (if you're a scientist, you may get this) which is an azure blue creme. I believe this is the first creme I've received from a bag so far. This is such a beautiful color, but the formula was a bit thin which is surprising since all the polishes I've used by them have been thicker. I also applied the Royal Fruits scented topcoat that came with the box this month. It smells good, but the dry time was slightly longer than I'm used to. Speed beats scent any time in my book.

I hope to get the second part of the Zoya collection out when I get home from my trip. I hope you enjoy the rest of your extended weekend if you're in the US!

Rainbow Honey June 2014 Mystery Bag Review and Swatch: Ichigo

Rainbow Honey Ichigo (3 coats)

Ok ok, this is a polish from the June Mystery Bag and it also happens to be taken outside. In my defense, I was getting ready to go on vacation.

In hindsight, Ichigo may have been better with underwear, but I'm not 100% sure that's true. It's a fuchsia jelly with blue and purple flakes that takes 3 extremely thick coats to be mostly opaque. While I love flakies, it just seems like it gets lost in the jelly. Your thoughts?
