Right on the Nail ~ FingerPaints Nail Color Swatches and Reviews: Hollywood Decadence and Magritte's Masterpiece

Long time no see! I know, I've been really bad about blogging this week. My family came into town on Tuesday and I've been busy with Thanksgiving festivities. I didn't go out shopping today, but we did go see Mockingjay Part 2 this evening. I've been trying to be good about my polish purchases today with all of these Black Friday indie sales. So far I've only bought from Polish 'M (a few core colors and holiday polishes) and Ever After (my very first ones). Don't worry, I will be posting those as soon as I get them...some bottle pictures and swatches will likely show up on Instagram and Twitter as well ;) Tonight I have some random pictures of some FingerPaints I got from Sally's Beauty Supply the last couple months. Follow me after the break to learn more.

Right on the Nail ~ Finger Paints Enchanted Winter Collection Swatches and Review: Winter Chill

Finger Paints Winter Chill (2 coats)

My inner fangirl is bursting at the moment. I'm actually a fan of QVC and since David Venable (In the Kitchen with David) will be in Chapel Hill, NC tomorrow, I got tickets to watch the live show! Squee! I realize I shouldn't be as excited as I am. Hopefully I will get to post some photos on Instagram and/or Twitter, so if you don't already follow me, go ahead and do that if you're interested.

Yes, the polish I have to show tonight is extremely old. I got this a couple months ago at Sally's during their clearance sales and I think I paid like $1.50 for it. Who knew it came from a winter 2013 collection? Also, who knew this was a matte textured polish? Not me, that's who! I really wish Finger Paints would label the bottle if it's a textured polish. It's a simple enough request, right? Since the trend has died a bit this year, I was actually happy this was a textured polish. And it reminds me of the regular Pixie Dusts that Zoya released first, which also happens to be my favorite type. It dried fairly quickly and had none of the sheen you got with the later releases of textured lacquers. Winter Chill is a deep black with pink and blue glitter (not a ton, but still quite noticeable). I have no idea if this is hard-to-find, but I'm sorry to post this if it is! Finger Paints retail for $5.49 at Sally's Beauty Supply, but there are often sales and a discounted price for Beauty Club Card members.

FingerPaints Core Color Hue Brighten My Day Swatch and Review

FingerPaints Hue Brighten My Day (2 coats)

It's going to be a quick post today because I need to drive home and get ready to watch The Bachelorette (hangs head in shame). Yes, ever since stupid Juan Pablo was on there, it sucked me in and I'd never watched a season up to that point. Don't judge me.

Hue Brighten My Day (such a cute name) is a core color to the newly formulated FingerPaints line at Sally's Beauty Supply. This one looked unique in the bottle which caught my eye and am I ever happy I bought it. It's a blackened green color with blue, purple, gold and green hexagonal glitter with tons of silver microshimmer. Since FingerPaints doesn't label their textured polishes, I wasn't sure if this was going to be one, and it wasn't. It will, on the other hand, eat your topcoat and be a pain to take off. The formula was great and pigmented for a glitter polish. I hope your Monday went well!

FingerPaints Spring 2013 Rock My World Collection Swatches and Review: Rock Hard Lilac and Stone Cold Pewter

FingerPaints Rock Hard Lilac (2 coats, no topcoat)

FingerPaints Stone Cold Pewter (2 coats, no topcoat)

FingerPaints recently completely revamped their line, including a new formula. I've tried several, and I really like them. When I first saw the Rock My World Collection, I thought they were normal metallic polishes and didn't think much of them. Then I heard they were textured, so I went right out and picked a couple up to show. I really think FingerPaints needs to start labeling the finishes on their polishes because you never know if you're going to get a matte or a textured polish. Anyway, I think this is what China Glaze meant to do with their Crinkled Chrome collection, but fell flat. These are definitely textured and feel a bit grainy which may bother some. Pretty much nothing bothers me so I didn't have a problem. Rock Hard Lilac is not really a lilac, but more of a periwinkle blue. In fact, I could not pick up much purple from this at all. Stone Cold Pewter is a silver/grey metallic. If something is called pewter, I will likely pick it up, and this did not disappoint. These are very pigmented, and I would recommend using as few coats as possible to get the most textured effect. Love these! You can find them at your local Sally Beauty Supply for around $4.29 or so.

FingerPaints Spring 2013 Wild About Spring Swatch: Owlin' at the Moon

FingerPaints Owlin' at the Moon (1ish coat) over 2 coats Jessica Cosmetics Velvet & Pearls

I am going to trivia for the first time in weeks (although I did go 1 time last month for my husband's birthday). Wish us luck! It seems that the team has been doing great without me, so I doubt I even need to go. :-P

I picked up FingerPaints Owlin' at the Moon for $1 at one of Sally's Beauty Supply sales. I'm not really into shard flake glitters, but I figured I'd give it a chance for a buck. Well, I think it looks best over black, which is shown above. The green is almost transparent and doesn't translate well over other colors. Oh, and of course not all of the shards sit properly, so you have to put some Gelous and thick topcoat over this so it doesn't poke you.  And then there's the application which forces you to dab the shards on which can get tedious. Ok, it sounds like I really hate this one, but I don't; the effect is cool in the end, but there's a lot of trial and error with it.

Finger Paints Swatch: It Baroque

Finger Paints: It Baroque (2 coats)

Yesterday was my husband's birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We went to trivia and ended up getting second place. Woot woot!

Fall is upon us (it doesn't feel like it here, but in places it is), and I'm really starting to get excited for earthy colors. Finger Paint's It Baroque (what is this, OPI?) is just screaming fall to me and I'm loving it. In the bottle it's a brown color with lots of green, but on the nail it dries to a shiny chocolate brown finish. Weird, huh? The formula and application was flawless and very opaque. I dug this out of a clearance bin so who knows if you can find it, but I figured you'd like to start seeing some fall colors. I hope your week is going splendidly so far!

Finger Paints Holiday 2012 Holiday of Wonders Collection Swatch: Sparkle and Snowflake

Finger Paints Sparkle and Snowflake (3 coats)

Happy Hump Day! Have you seen the commercial with the camel in the offices asking what day it is? It cracks me up every time.

Yup, I'm behind on more polishes, but better late than never. Sparkle and Snowflake comes from the Finger Paints Holiday of Wonders collection and is a silver and holographic fine glitter in a clear base. I was bound and determined to make this opaque, and I was fairly successful with 3 coats. You can see a bit of balding at the end of my nails, but that's always what happens. While this looks great alone, I've seen swatches of it over other colors and it looks wonderful. The formula was a bit runny, so be careful of that.

Finger Paints Sparkle Topcoat 2012

Finger Paints Sparkle Topcoat (1 coat) over 2 coats Fall-ing For You

Yesterday I showed you Fall-in For you, so I decided to add a layer of an intense iridescent bar glitter with some finer glitter pieces. I think this would have worked better with a creme finish, so my apologies for the not-so-great combination. I know people either love or hate bar glitter, but I tend to love it. If you can still find this and love bar glitter, pick it up ASAP. Oh, and I found the glitter density to be great with 1 coat and great consistency.

Finger Paints Fall 2012 Fall of Surprises Collection: Fall-ing For You

Finger Paints Fall-ing For You (2 coats)

Having a house really eats up your weekend time! We spent most of yesterday doing yard work and putting in new shrubs and flowers which is really exciting (and exhausting). I hope your week went well. I ended up getting 6 polishes for the Zoya exchange (Hazel, Rikki, Piaf, Kimber, Rory, and Marina). Did you get any?

I know, I know, this polish is from a Fall 2012 collection, but I got it on clearance so I had to pick it up. Fall-ing for you is a teal metallic polish with a bit of a frost finish. Don't worry, I don't find this to be crazy frosty or anything, but be wary of brushstrokes. The formula was pretty much perfect since it was a little thick and extremely pigmented. I didn't think I'd like this one as much as I do. If you can find this in the clearance section of your Sally's, I'd recommend it.

Fingerpaints Fall 2012 Fall of Surprises: Take It or Leaf It

Fingerpaints Take It or Leaf It (2 coats)

Take It or Leaf it is a taupe metallic foil with a bit of bronze in it. It's a nice neutral color, but the application was absolutely awful  It was thick and gloopy which caused some dragging. I would definitely recommend using a lot of thinner before attempting this one.

Fingerpaints Fall 2012 Fall of Surprises Collection: Plum Startled

Fingerpaints Plum Startled (3 coats)

The fall collection from Fingerpaints was on sale last week at Sally's so I got a couple. Plum Startled is a grape jelly with blue/purple glass flecks. I love it! The base was a bit sheer, so three coats was a must.

Finger paints: Art Dealer Teal-er

Finger Paints Art Dealer Teal-er (2 coats)

There just aren't enough hours in the day for me to get through all the tv I missed while I was gone. Unfortunately my DVR decided to delete a large portion of saved shows a few days after I came home for absolutely no reason. No, it wasn't too full or anything either. Grr, Time Warner and your faulty equipment!

Art Dealer Teal-er is the last Finger Paints polish I have to show you. I absolutely adore this teal shimmer which leans a bit turquoise. I believe this is a part of their core collection and can be found at your local Sally Beauty Supply. The application and formula was amazing like most Finger Paints colors.

Fingerpaints Gumdrops & Lollipops Spring 2012 Collection: Lemon Sour

Fingerpaints Lemon Sour (3 coats)

Happy Monday! I'm just now finally getting back into the swing of things (stupid jet lag!). I had to cut my nails off during my trip so I'm trying to let them grow out a bit. I still have a backlog of photos I'm going through so you'll see my short nubbins eventually.

Lemon Sour is a light yellow creme that was perfect for Spring. I'd have to say I get the most comments about my nails when I wear yellow since it is a rare color for most of the population to wear. While I love yellow, I hate about 95% of the formulas of yellow polishes. Lemon Sour by far isn't the worst yellow polish I've worked with, but it still has a bit of streakiness you always get. Please ignore the bubbles in the pictures....I was testing the latest Sally Hansen quick-dry topcoat (in the black bottle) and I could never get it to stop bubbling up my polishes.

Fingerpaints Gumdrops & Lollipops Spring 2012 Collection: Grape Gumdrop

Fingerpaints Grape Lollipops (2 coats)

I don't have enough Fingerpaints colors. I don't get over to Sally's often enough to pick them up, but I do enjoy them. I picked up Grape Lollipops on sale when they were trying to get rid of their extra Spring Collection colors. It's a blue-purple color with a glass-flecked-like finish. I was hoping the glass-flecks would give off a different color, but alas, it's just slightly silver. I do like it! The application was slightly watery, but not too difficult, and only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

Finger Paints Special Effects Flake Glitter Topcoat: Twisted (FLAKIES!)

Finger Paints Twisted (2 coats) over 1 coat SinfulColors Last Chance

Oh yes, 2012 is the year of the flakies. I still haven't bought any of the Zoya ones yet, but I can't wait to get my paws on those, too. Finger Paints has a set of 5 different flakie polishes for your pleasure. Each bottle is a different color, but Twisted is the one with a rainbow of colors. This is by far the most vibrant flake polish I've owned. Usually there are a couple colors of flakes, but this one has them all. I've found that the these look best on dark polishes, but if you want something really subtle, they work fine on light colors as well. The flakes weren't really densely packed so I used 2 coats on the swatch. These were released last month at Sally's Beauty Supply so check for these ASAP. Apparently some stores have sold out of them, but my city isn't full of nail fanatics so there are still some left. Enjoy!

Finger Paints Holiday 2010: Holly Good Times

Finger Paints Holly Good Times (3 coats)

Can you believe it is December?! I definitely can't. This year has just flown by. Before I start the haul from Zoya, I thought I'd show a few polishes that I just have 1 of out of a collection such as this one from the latest Finger Paints Holiday collection. Although this one is a holiday polish, doesn't Holly Good Times look just like Thanksgiving to you! I absolutely love this glitter. It has a mix of gold and red glitter that is suspended in a clear base. The glitter is fairly densely packed and what you see here is 3 coats, but your can sort of a see a few bald spots. Personally, I like this better on its own, but you may be able to use this as a glitter topcoat. I only bought this one from the collection because none of the others really called to me, but they all see fine choices for the holiday season with several other reds and glitters inside. You can find Finger Paints polishes at your local Sally's Beauty Supply.

Finger Paints Heavenly Miracles Collection: Oh My Stars

Finger Paints Oh My Stars (4 coats)

So yeah, I'm slightly disappointed with this one. This isn't to say that it is completely the polish's fault. Oh, and please ignore the ugly yellow of my nails. Oh My Stars (LOVE the name!) is a silver glitter polish that would probably be best used over another polish. As  you can see from the pictures, you can definitely still see my nails even after 4 coats of polish. Otherwise the application was just fine.
