Swatch and Review: Orly Miss Conduct

Happy Hump Day!

Sorry my posts have been somewhat inconsistent. I am now officially at my summer internship and our office is crazy busy all the time. I have to say I am so grateful for this job because I never thought, even though I love law, I'd ever be in the position as a lawyer to wake up every morning and be excited to go to work. The old saying "if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life" never appeared to apply to lawyers. But I can safely say that I roll out of bed every morning and can't wait to get into the office. It's a wonderful feeling.

I also knew it was going to be a good job when my boss was wearing lime green polish on her tips and toes. Good omen, right?

Today, I'm bringing you some Hump Day Holo in the form of Orly Miss Conduct!

Orly Miss Conduct is a magenta linear holo nail polish. It has some major pop to it and is opaque in two thin coats. The first time I wore it, I honestly got away with one!

Drool-worthy, I'd say so! What do you think of Orly Miss Conduct? I just love the name, too!

Hump Day Holo: a-England Holo Stripes

Happy Hump Day!

I decided I wanted to be a little creative with my striping tape for Hump Day and turned to my favorite go-to holo polishes: a-England!

Eventually, I decided on my all-time favorite, St. George, and thought the purple of Lady of the Lake was a great compliment.

I placed two pieces of striping tape down and painted with Lady of the Lake first. That way, I could paint over any of the spillover with St. George.

Look at that sparkle!

What do you think of my Hump Day Holo look?

Hump Day Holo: Julep Rebel

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Today's post is Julep Rebel, which is billed as a silver scattered holo. It came in my February box and is named for star of Pitch Perfect, Rebel Wilson.

Well, as it turns out, this is not as holographic as billed. Not even scattered. It just seems like a matte silver foil. I was rather disappointed by this. Oh well.

Even though this isn't holographic, do you like Rebel as a matte silver foil?

Hump Day Holo: Space Girl Nails

Hi again, everyone! Sorry for the long delay... been getting all of my stuff together for school and spent a few days in Atlantic City. My mom was the big winner, but I didn't lose too bad at all!

Today, I have a little mani that I have dubbed Space Girl Nails because it reminds me of outer space!

I used Zoya Suri (which you'll see swatched on its own later in the week), topped with Nfu Oh 61 and a little stripe of Zoya Mira. I think Mira adds that little extra pop, don't you?

Because it has been pretty rainy here for a few days, I couldn't get any sunlight swatches. Yeah, this was INDOORS. And I love it!

So what do you think of the Space Girl Nails? And remember to enter the Olympics Nail Art contest before time runs out this weekend!

Until next time!

Swatch and Review: Hump Day Holo - HITS Mari Moon Cutie Pie

Happy Hump Day! Hump Day Holo has returned once again, but this time, we're going to holo-fy a color for you. It's a little throwback!

I'm bringing you HITS Mari Moon Cutie Pie, which is normally a blue-purple-magneta duochrome.

See:

And with a little help from OPI DS Shimmer, I have turned into sparkly holo goodness!

Here, you can see the MAJOR POP the OPI DS Shimmer added to the color!

And even here, you can tell the shift in color.

This one, lastly, shows just how much duochrome the DS Shimmer pulled out. It's not nearly as much as the original polish, but it's still a gorgeous shift nonetheless!

So what do you think? Would you rock a holo-fied Mari Moon Cutie Pie?

Enjoy your Hump Day!

Swatch and Review: a-England St. George

Happy Hump Day!

Today I have a major lemming of mine that I was able to snag in a swap. I think it is one of the most gorgeous holo polishes out there... a-England St. George!

Look at this stunner in the sun! A-England St. George is a beautiful teal scattered holo polish. It applied like a dream and was not all that difficult to remove. It didn't stain my cuticles or anything, which is common of darker blues and greens.

I was so excited to finally be able to rock St. George!

Right now, over at a-England's website, you can snag any of the Mythical collection for $7.82 and free shipping! While that doesn't include St. George, it includes awesome holos like Tristam and Lady of the Lake! EXCITING!

Until Thursday!

Hump Day Holo: Independence Day Manicure

Happy Independence Day! I hope no one has singed themselves with fireworks! I got stung by a bee (a yellow jacket) today for the first time in my life, which was pretty interesting.

It was the first time I had ever gotten stung (side of my bicep, near my elbow) and while I was allergic, I didn't go into shock or anything. I just broke out in a rash from elbow to wrist. And while a little Benedryl cleared that up, I did require a bag of frozen blueberries to ice my arm! It also afforded me a nice little nap on a lounge chair by the pool, which was nice.

Anyhoo... I wanted to do something fun for Hump Day Holo that was July 4th themed, but didn't want to repeat my Memorial Day Manicure or go cliche with the flag.

So I grabbed a-England Tristam, OPI DS Ruby, and my white Stripe Rite bottle... and went to work.

The tips are Tristam with the swipes of Ruby and white. I wanted something that had some pop (you can see the sparkle of Tristam's holo glitter), but that I could get away with wearing for a few days. The hardest part was the white swipe with my It's So Easy striping brush, which thins out towards the left side of the nail. The Ruby stripe was not only pretty, but helpful, as it helped even out any errors I made with Tristam. My base, for the record, was my go-to nude: Zoya Audrey.

I think that if this wasn't a holiday, it would have a very nautical feel to it!

I would definitely like to do this manicure again with some different colors. Have any suggestions? Leave them in the comments section!

Swatch and Review: Hump Day Holo - Nfu Oh 61

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

I'm bringing to you my VERY first Nfu Oh with those scandalous bottles!

It's Nfu Oh 61!

Here is Nfu Oh 61, a silver linear holo polish. When it goes on the nail, it looks pretty flat and just like chunky metal. But then, as it dried... something magical happened. And BOOM! It looked like it does above INDOORS!

And here is Nfu Oh 61 in natural light. It was gorgeous both indoors and outdoors. I had to put a top coat on over the polish, due to its tendency to crack and disintegrate with the slightest brush up against anything.

Truthfully, it's lack of durability was the major drawback for the polish. Though, I'd probably wear it again. Certainly, layering another polish over it didn't hurt.

So what do you think of Nfu Oh 61 for Hump Day?

Hump Day Holo: a-England Lady of the Lake and Sally Hansen Lapis Amethyst

Good morning, everyone! I'm bringing back Hump Day Holo with a special combination that I have come to adore!

I combined a-England Lady of the Lake with Sally Hansen Lapis Amethyst to create a stunning, funky purple French manicure that I'm in love with.

Check it out:

I LOVED this combination of the pearl duochrome that is SH Lapis Amethyst and the bright holo pop of a-England Lady of the Lake. This was actually pretty easy to accomplish too!

I apologize for the bubbles on my index finger... didn't realize my top coat had gotten to that point until it was too late!

Blurred sparkle shot!

So what do you think about this combo? Do you adore it as much as I do?

Hump Day Holo: a-England Ascalon

Thanks to a swap with a lovely fellow blogger of mine, The Nail Files, I snagged this lemming and nearly cried tears of joy when I opened the box!

I mean, how could you not LOVE this color? I loved it so much, I had to take a picture of it immediately. That's the shipping box it arrived in behind the bottle.

Dear GOD, look at that holo!

On the nails, it's just gorgeous. Seriously, a-England Ascalon has a nice linear aspect about it, as well as scattered quality, depending on the light. The base of the actual nail polish is pretty similar to Deborah Lippmann Wicked Game/OPI Not Like the Movies/Wet n Wild Gray's Anatomy in that it's a gray-lavender duochrome. But the holographic quality cranks it up to 11.

Polishes by a-England are 13ml bottles and available from their official website and through Llarowe. They retail for $12.50 each.

Hump Day Holo: Color Club Wild at Heart

Hump Day Holo is back with my first Color Club swatch on the blog. It's a gorgeous purple holo called Wild at Heart.

This was borrowed from a friend of mine, so I do not have the bottle. But it looks much nicer on my nails than in the bottle!

Depending on how you look at your nails, the nail polish looks either like a super scattered holo or a linear holo. Sometimes, it even looks like both. But do I care which one?

Weekend Holo: Spring Stripes

You all may remember my post earlier in the week with my Spring Stripes nails. Well, for hump day holo (at least, this belated one), I wanted to see how I can kick it up a notch!

Behold - Holofied Spring Stripes!

I LOVED it! Still girly, but delicate and yet it has the KAPOW I wanted!

So tell me, everyone... which look do you prefer? The original Spring Stripes or the holofied Spring Stripes?

Hump Day Holo: Zoya Breezi

Hump Day Holo is here again and today, I have one of my favorite summer shades of all time: Zoya Breezi!

Breezi is a gorgeous Dodger blue creme that is lustrous, even without a top coat. But how does she compare as a holo? We find out... after the jump!

Hump Day Holo: Zoya Mira

I've already gushed over how much I love Zoya Mira, but if you adore the purple creme as much as I do, you're going to die when you see it holo-fied.

So no more mystery... CHECK IT OUT!

And as if that wasn't gorgeous enough, Macro A:

 And Super Sparkly Macro B:

So what do you ladies think of the holo-fied Mira?

A Belated Hump Day Holo: Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle

Sorry for the delay, everyone! Between school and spring allergies finally knocking on my door, it has been a rough 36 hours. But never fear... the holo is here.

This holo-fied color is Deborah Lippmann's Razzle Dazzle, a smooth cranberry jelly with fuschia glitter. Be on the lookout for a full review tomorrow. A coat of OPI DS Shimmer turns this shade into a linear bordeaux holo that is to die for!

So what do you think of this holofied shade? Get ready to go purple next week!

Hump Day Holo: Zoya Holly

The second-ever Hump Day Holo honor goes to Zoya Holly, a gorgeous emerald green. I own many holos, but not a single rich green color. And what better way to showcase one of the options for the winner of the Zoya Go Braugh giveaway? So without further adieu, here is Holly + 1 coat of OPI DS Shimmer...

I'm on the fence about this one. I LOVE Holly so much and was thrilled to write about it in Day 13 of the ongoing 30 Days of Zoya Challenge/Giveaway. But I don't think this is as deep of a color as I would have liked, once I layered Shimmer over it. Perhaps I should have used a thicker coat? Or maybe Zoya Petra is just so showstopping, nothing can compare? I don't know. But it's not my favorite holo-fied shade.

So it's back to the drawing board for next week. What did YOU think about Holo Holly? What would you like to see for next week?

Hump Day Holo: China Glaze Traffic Jam

I've been toying around for a few days with my bottle of OPI DS Shimmer and using it as a top coat to make creme polishes holo. So I thought it would be kind of fun on Wednesdays to showcase the holo-fied polish of the week.

Up this week is China Glaze Traffic Jam!
