tutorial: multi reversible cape

It's not an original idea.  I've seen this in a japanese book somewhere, I remembered it was simple and easy and since I had to do a Christmas gift swap last week, I thought of making this for my partner.  It was a big hit and everybody wants one now :).  My talented cousin came over to drop off my Christmas cakes order and she requested one for herself.  And in return, she modeled for me :D.  This year, Misfits' teachers also got this as a Christmas present :) but I forgot to take pictures.  You can wear this many ways!  For more variations, add more buttons :).  See picture and link below for the tutorial.

NOTE: Some of the readers asked me about the sizing for this.  I've realized my cousin is super skinny :), so if you're like me...you might not be able to do the cross over style, unless you make the fabric a little longer and wider.  It is best if you try draping the fabric on yourself.  You can always add more buttons to make more variations...you can also add buttons along the horizontal length of the fabric as well :)...it would give more variations.

You can even use it for a scarf ;)

This one was for the Christmas gift wrap

Mimi modeling for me :)...she wasn't trying to pout and looked sexy
It was me taking the picture at that moment hehehe

tutorial: foxy bag pattern and competition calling

Well, it's not actually a tutorial, just a pattern.  I'm calling everyone who's interested to make this bag :).  I tried making mine...I used synthetic leather and forgot to put in the ears and synthetic leathers were just hellish to sew :(.  So, I'm putting this aside for the time being...and ask you...my dear readers :)...to make me one finished product hehehehehe...email me your finished product, k! :)...

Or...maybe I should make this into a little competition??? Say....open till the end of the month??? and I'll prepare a nice package for the winner ;)...what say you?? are you in??

Here is the link to foxy pattern

Here are some suggestions:
1. Use felt for eyes
2. Add a bag strap on the side
3. Leather would be so nice :)
4. Canvas would do too :)

lia goes back to school

well, not really...it's only an intensive course in basic pattern drafting at LaSalle College Jakarta :D...something I've been wanting to do since last year...it is done every Saturday for 6 weeks, a total of 30 hourse course (5 hours each class).  I did my first skirt block (yayyyyy) and many skirt variations from a single block!  Today, we're finishing the bodice block :) I am so excited...this is all very interesting to me...not easy, but interesting (much better than engineering courses! ha!)....I was peeking at another class yesterday, and looking at these girls finishing up their design on actual garments...made me feel so envious :)  I wish I took fashion design then...they looked so cool...just like project runway hahahaha...but I don't regret my decisions in life and very happy at where I am now...doing basic pattern design :)...hopefully, I'll be able to do advanced pattern drafting :).  At least looking at pattern magic books would hopefully not be so intimidating to me anymore :)...Here's to the hope of better sewing knowledge :)

That crazy Ironing lady is my very good crafty friend, Chia...who refuses to have a blog to display her wonderful creations :) and whom I drag to join this class :)

My equipments :)...lots and lots of odd shaped rulers :p...finally I am no longer scared of using them :)

The bodice I was telling you about...it will hopefully be finished by the end of today's class

jump rope dress

Finally, I decided to finish this jump rope dress by Oliver+S. I started making the dress before I left Australia...1 month later....finally finished hahahahaha...been a bit lazy, because I had to ripped one of the pockets! and fixed little this and that...:). Turned out pretty nice...Mind my too big mannequin...The dress is too small for the mannequin. As I was sewing the button last night, Misfit woke up and saw it..and said...that's nice, Mommy....O, she made my night :)

Do let me know if the links don't work :)

misfit's top and pants

I saw this on a Japanese magazine, CUCITO. So I decided to make one for misfit too :)….I have a bad feeling that the pants might be slightly too tight for big misfit…In that case, hopefully little misfit can fit into it :p.

2 pairs of baby PJs

My friend's baby decided to come out a few days earlier...so I quickly made these yesterday, the turtle pants were not done in time because we were awfully late seeing the baby :p...so that one was finished this morning :D. Enjoy, baby Sean! The top pattern I got from handmadenokokoro and the pants I got from my Japanese books.

another kimono pj

I've been wanting to make another pj for the misfits, last night, after much seam reaping, I finally finished this oliver+s pj!!!! I made the sleeves shorter and finally used the Batik material...

Belle's Birthday Dress

It might not be the neatest sewing....but I love this fabric's pattern and color :). Bought it at Arab St. in Singapore.

oliver+s tea party sundress

Here is another oliver+s pattern. I used an extra lining for this dress, because the bottom material is rather fine. It is a bit more complicated compared to the pajamas and took longer to make but I'm so happy with the finished product :D.

oliver+s kimono pajamas

I bought an oliver+s pattern and I'm in love with everything oliver+s ever since. Next time I make the pajamas, I will need to resize the waist for Emma, since it is now too small for her. It's quite an easy pattern, though took me awhile to finish. I'm very happy with how it turned out
