What are YOUR Favorite Colors?

My What's Your Favorite Color challenge continues until Sunday, and I couldn't resist creating another quick piece in another of my favorite colors -- this time deep wine red. (My first pick had to be aquamarine blue!)

The entries are shaping up nicely and the gallery for the challenge looks pretty in a rainbow of colors.  Come see, and share your favorite colors -- or two or three!  Each entry is your chance to win the random drawing on Sunday.  Join in to win your choice of one of ten Lunagirl Digital Collage Sheet collections on CD!

What's Your Favorite Color: Second Week

My "What's Your Favorite Color?" creative challenge continues throughout this week, until Sunday.  Remember you can enter up to three pieces (all the same color or in three favorite colors if you like -- it's hard to pick just one!)

And remember that every entry is your chance to win the random drawing for a great prize: a Lunagirl collage sheet CD (ten to choose from).  Use a Lunagirl image in your creation and double your chances!

Thanks to the wonderful Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team for more inspiration below (these are particularly pretty, don't you think?) ... and also to everyone who has entered so far.  Share your favorite color... you have until Sunday!

Creative Challenge: Use Your Favorite Color!

For the next Lunagirl blog challenge (#30), here's a fun theme: What's Your Favorite Color?

Each of the Moonbeams Design Team will be working with their own favorite color.  For your entry, use your favorite color!  So this is kind of an "anything goes" challenge, so long as you focus on or highlight your favorite color.

This theme was inspired partly by my collection of color-themed digital collage sheets at Lunagirl.com.  I have whole collections in shades of pink, blue, green, purple, yellow, red, orange, even sepia and black/white.  So I hope you can find your favorite to work with.  And if you can't decide which color is your favorite, remember you can enter two or three times so choose two or three favorite colors!

(Ironically, I have not yet created color-themed digital collage sheets in my favorite shades: aquamarine blue-green (the color of the sea) and deep wine red.  Hmmm, I may have to make that a project...)  My third favorite would have to be purple!

And this time we have a special prize:  the winner (selected by random drawing on August 3) will receive one of my Lunagirl digital collage sheet CDs -- your choice of ten CDs, each includes 25 printable digital sheets.

So get inspired!  Here are the challenge guidelines:

  • Any craft or medium is OK.
  • Limit of 3 entries from one person in each challenge, please.
  • Vintage style is encouraged.
  • Use a Lunagirl image or element and your entry will count twice in the drawing!
  • Remember to link to this blog and to Lunagirl.com on your site if you have one.
  • Prize:  The winner will be selected randomly, to receive a Lunagirl collage sheet CD ($25 value).
  • Challenge ends at noon CST on August 3.

  • Of course I love if you use at least one Lunagirl.com product, and I hope you'll go take a look at my collection... but that's not a requirement. However, remember that if you use a Lunagirl image, you will be entered TWICE in the drawing! I want to welcome everyone and every style but also give a little something extra to my wonderful customers!

LINK UP YOUR ENTRIES BELOW TO PLAY (and please don't forget to SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE Design Team creations!)

More New Digital Downloads: Vintage Postcards in Soft Antique Colors

digital collage sheet, printable carte postale, tinted carte, vintage postcards to printMore digital collage sheets created with vintage carte postale images and antique postcard backs!  The top one has an unusual feather quill pen design, and I added some garden butterflies to one.  They all have pretty typography.  I thought these came out really well in the soft colors: Original Shabby, Garden Green, Soft Blue, Vintage Pink.

    Vintage Postcards Ephemera Downloads NEW!

I've been busy creating digital collage sheets with vintage postcards and French carte postale scans, because I think the backs of the postcards in my collection are often just as pretty as the fronts!

In the past I've offered some of the cards with antique handwriting, in English and French, and I wanted to do a collection of the blank cards because they are perfect for so many projects.  And they are lots of fun for me to work with as well!

This is the first set, which I have kept very simple.  The top card is very unusual, with an nature scene illustration and art deco type design.  Then there is a French card and a one in English.  I've offered all three cards in a large and small size, plus a little bonus of just the pretty "post card" titles.

Just for fun, I also did this set in several colors!
Pink, Indigo Blue, Lilac Purple, Soft Peach, and Spring Green.  Check them all out, and watch for more vintage postcard collage sheets coming very soon....

Scarlet.... Crimson...RED!  Vintage Red is the theme for my next challenge here at Lunagirl Moonbeams.

Perfect for Valentine's Day -- although you don't need to use hearts and roses unless you want to! -- and perfect to warm up February's chill here in the Northern Hemisphere.  Although my favorite colors tend to be the cooler colors, I've always been fond of a lovely deep red... red birds, red poppies, red roses, Little Red Riding Hood, red shoes, red wine, red cherries and apples and strawberries... red for romance and life and energy...

This is challenge (#21) will end at Noon (Central Time) on February 23, and here are the guidelines:

Any craft or medium is OK,

No more than 3 entries from one person in each challenge,
Vintage style is encouraged but not required, and
Please link to my blog and Lunagirl.com on your site if you have one.

The winner will be selected randomly to win a $10 coupon for Lunagirl.com! Of course I love if you use at least one Lunagirl product, and I hope you'll go take a look at my collection... but that's not a requirement!  However, if you use a Lunagirl image in your creation, you will be entered TWICE in the drawing! I want to welcome everyone and every style but also give a little something extra to my wonderful customers!

Enjoy the inspiring samples from the Moonbeams Design Team below, and please come link up your own creations.  The DT will be working with images from some of my red-themed digital collage sheets:  RED, Red Hat Ladies, Textures Orange & Red (plus some Valentines).

    Seeing Red at Lunagirl.com!

    http://lunagirl.com/collections/digital-collage-sheets-color-themes/products/red-digital-collage-sheet
I'm not sure what came over me, but I became obsessed with red and created these three digital collage sheets on a RED theme:  Lots of women and girls  in red, red hat ladies, red birds, cherries, frames, roses, so much variety, and a whole sheet of 1x2 images.  And who doesn't love red?

New Collage Sheets ~ Patterned Backgrounds in Pretty Color Themes

I've been busily creating new collage sheets the past few weeks, but haven't gotten them all posted to the blog.

Here are a couple of sheets featuring patterned backgrounds in a size perfect for ATCs and cards, or tags, or frames for pictures in scrapbooks.

I've also been scanning antique Tarot cards, in bright colors and also in sepia, so if you like those I'll have them posted soon.

The other thing I've been working on, by request, is more mid-century images ~ 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, retro housewives, etc. ... so stay tuned for that on the blog next week, or go ahead and see my new stuff on the website

New: Another Watercolour Alice Collage Sheet

I realized that I have enough watercolored Alice in Wonderland illustrations to create a second Watercolour Alice collage sheet.  The first one is one of my most popular Alice-themed designs.  So here it is (sample is watermarked but of course the original is not).  Click on the sample to see it on sale at Lunagirl.com.

Great Saturday Project: Easter Eggs with All Natural Dyes!

Did you know you can make natural egg dyes from stuff around your kitchen? I looked around for tips on dyeing Easter eggs with natural dyes and picked a few of the best links to share! This is a great "old-fashioned" way to dye eggs, but also a "new-fashioned" way to avoid artificial dyes and over-commercialization of holiday celebrations. It's a fun experiment and a fun way to spend some time with your kids!

The earliest traditional colors for Easter eggs were red and green, btw. Red is the most ancient sacred color, the color of life energy. Green of course is also symbolic of life and vitality and renewal. Pastel colors became popular later, probably in imitation of the pinks and yellows and lavenders of Spring flowers. Supposedly teal is the "hot" color this year!!

Here are some links ~ have fun:

On that last link, you'll want to click the "next" button at the bottom a couple of times, because the next few pages have wonderful ideas for decorating eggs with stencils, leaves and seeds, ribbon, even postage stamps!
