Twelve in Fourteen.

Here is my UFO Finish for September!  It is called Twister Jack and uses the twister ruler. I purchased this in Bozeman Montana, while on a road trip last fall to Yellowstone National Park. Not sure if I am a big fan of this process, as you have to sew together squares, just to cut them up and sew them back together again!! It's like making a quilt twice, but I do really like the result!

Sunday Stash Report and UFO Finish

This week I have a finish to report!
I have finished the Mystery Quilt from Karen Sievert at the Nifty Needle. This was a class at Road to California Quilt show in 2013. It is a very big quilt, finishing at 90x104, but the pieces were pretty big to work with and it did finish up quickly once I got back to it!

I did purchase a bit to add to the stash, but for the most part have stayed out of the Quilt shops this week. That is about to change with the San Diego Quilt Show coming up next week. I will be attending Pre-view night on Wednesday, which is always the best night to go. No crowds and all the vendors are open to shop!

Here are the numbers for this week:

Used this week: 20.0 yards.
Used Year to date: 114.25 yards
Purchased this week: 2.0 yards.
Purchased Year to date: 71.0 yards.
Net Fabric Used in 2014: 43.25 yards.

UFO Finish!

Here is my UFO finish for June- Crab apples!  This is a pattern from Bonnie Hunter's book Adventures with Leaders and Enders. It started out as a swap with a great group of my quilting friends. We traded the nine patch blocks pictured below, so we would have lots of variety. I finished the quilt during our annual quilting retreat last weekend. We had a great time and I think everyone got a lot accomplished.

We are half way through the year and I am happy to report that I have actually been able to keep up and even get a little ahead. Hope you are making progress on all your UFO's this year!

This week I have a finish!
Talkin Turkey is finally completed. This was also my UFO from April.

I was also able to complete the last of my applique blocks from Temecula Quilt Company Block of the month. Not sure yet how I will set them, thinking something simple. Any ideas are welcome!

My only purchase this week was from Sunshine Quilt Guild's Auction. I bid on this charm pack, layer cake, ruler and pattern called Five and Dime. Lucky me- I won!  The pattern is super simple and will be coming with me to our retreat this week in Lakeside.

Sunday Stash Report

This week I was able to finish my Star Fusion Quilt. This was started at a class during the Road to California Quilt Show in January. The pattern is by Janna Thomas and uses the Bloc Loc Rulers. If you have not tried these rulers, they are worth checking out. The website has a video on how to use them. They are great for squaring up those half square triangle blocks, flying geese, and many other blocks.

My Star Fusion is made a bit smaller (42 x 56) than the original Twin size, and I used black and white fabrics as the accents. I really like how it turned out. This is also my #4 UFO for March and it is done! Now on to something else-check out my Design Wall tomorrow to see what I will be working on for March.

Here are the updated numbers for this week and I am finally out of the red!

UFO Finish

Here is my UFO finish for February. It is called Harmony Square by Linda Ballard and was started last month in a class at Road to California Quilt Show. I will be looking for some great quilting designs to put in the snowball squares and triangles. The border fabric is a Ginkgo Leaf that I purchased awhile back.

I will send this off to Marti for the February UFO Parade. Hope you were able to finish yours this month.

The first finish for the year!
I waited to post this until I was finished with my Celtic Solstice, which was today!!  I really like the way it turned out and love the circular motion of this quilt. This was started the Friday after Thanksgiving with Bonnie Hunter's Annual Mystery Quilt. This is also my #7 UFO finish
for Twelve in Fourteen and I will be sending this photo along to Marti for posting on her site.

My Celtic Solstice.
Next up: Purchases for the month. Below are fabrics that were purchased for two classes that were taken at Road to California Quilt Show last Tuesday and Wednesday with my friend Sandi, Harmony Square and Star Fusion. The Star Fusion Fabrics did not make it in time so we picked black and whites to use. Hope to report finishes with them soon!
