Design Wall

Thanks to all who have given everything for our freedoms. May we remember them today and always.

Dog Blocks are on the design wall. I still have quite a few more to go. They will get stitching around the applique in black thread to help them stand out a bit. I am not sure about the dark blue at the top. His black eye and nose don't show up to well. I think I will wait until all the blocks are done before I decide what to do.

Have a wonderful week!

Happy Belated Mothers day to all the mothers out there. I had a wonderful long weekend in SD visiting family and enjoyed out time together.

Spoolin Around is on the design wall. But I realized I have a long way to go. Many more spool blocks will need to be made before I can start putting this together. I may make it a bit smaller, as the finished size is 90x98. I would just have to figure out how to adjust the borders.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Happy May Day! April flew past and now we are into May. We have had beautiful weather here in the desert, but it won't be long before things heat up.

QOV blocks are on my design wall this week. These are for my Longarm group and will go into one of our QOV quilts that we make each season.

More blocks underway for Spoolin Around. Next week I am off to San Diego for Mother's day so not much sewing will get accomplished.

Fish School is still on my design wall this week, but it is ready to sew into rows with sashing and cornerstones. I am also working on another Bonnie Hunter, Spoolin Around quilt, which was a leader and ender project from 2012.

This one has been in the works for awhile, as it takes over 650 spool blocks that finish at 3". I am about halfway there.

Have a great week!

Fish School is coming along. Just a few more blocks to make to get it to the size that I want. I will be using a black polka dot for the setting strips.  I am also prepping a small hand work project which I will share on my next post. Enjoy your week!

My second Block for Lupine and Laughter is in the works this week, along with sewing the border pieces. Hope I can get that far.

Next week, Sandi and I will be off to Road To California Quilt Show.  The quilt above is from one of the classes we will be taking, " When perfect isn't the point". I will be working on cutting out all the pieces for this one.  We are also taking a Tiny Piecing class, which I am looking forward to . We will also participate in Preview Night and have plenty of time for shopping. Looking forward to this trip.

Have a great week!

Hope your Thanksgiving is filled with family, friends, fun and food!

In between working on the Bonnie Hunter Mystery, I will be trying to get another Bonnie Hunter Quilt finished. This one is called Wonky Wishes and I just need to make a few more string pieced sashes and then sew the top together. I am almost there!

Clue 1 is cut out and ready for sewing. I was going to use my Accquilt to cut these out, but instead I had enough strips in my stash to cut them using Bonnies Ruler. Tomorrow will be the release of clue 2 and there is still plenty of time to join in, or at least save all the clues to make at a later date. You can get them here.

Have a wonderful day!

Not much sewing getting done for me, but thought I would share from our Chapter Meeting yesterday. Heidi Pridemore, above, shared a presentation on Sashiko Quilting and gave a demo on how to do. It was super informative and yes, I bought a simple Sashiko kit to do while I am on the road later this month. Some of the show and tell this month below.

Eva and a charity quilt.

Stacy and her latest Gudrun Erla pattern.

Joyce with a beautiful embroidered quilt.

Margarete with a flower garden quilt.

I am off to a quilt retreat starting tomorrow, so hope to have a finish to share soon!
