    Our “go-to” when we make a pot of beans & fried potatoes. My husband’s grandmother used to make him flapjacks all the time as a kid. When I served this recipe to him for the first time, he said from memory only, “this is exactly how Grandma used to make them”. Now he requests this over cornbread every time. Thank you Rosemaryblue for bringing back one of his favorite childhood memories.

    75-year-old orange date nut cake—Interestingly, we have the exact same recipe, written in my grandmother’s handwriting, recently discovered by our cousin. My grandmother, who died this year at 94, deemed this cake the “colonial cake.” She lived in Memphis, TN all her life. I’m wondering if you know any history related to the recipe?
