Chili Dog Grilled Cheese
From wynnebaer 15 years agoIngredients
- 12 slices country white bread shopping list
- 24 slices cheddar cheese, thinly sliced (I've also used shredded cheddar for this) shopping list
- Any beef and bean chili of your choice shopping list
- 18 beef hot dogs shopping list
- butter shopping list
- Chopped onion, optional shopping list
How to make it
- Over medium low heat, heat 2 large fry pans (or use a griddle big enough to grill 6 sandwiches)
- Add a tab of butter to fry pan
- Fry hot dogs until golden brown on outside and heated through
- Slice hot dogs in half lengthwise
- To assemble sandwiches, put bread slices onto counter and add slice of cheese to each slice of bread
- Top six slices of bread with 4 hot dog halves
- Top hot dogs with chili
- Add onions to sandwich if desired
- Add last 6 bread slices with cheese to assemble sandwich
- Spread one side of each sandwich with butter
- Add to pan and cook until golden brown (I generally add some weight to top of sandwich)
- Flip and cook other side to golden brown (I find cooking them slow keeps the insides nice and hot)
