How to make it

  • toast any raw grains in the oven for about 5 min. at 400 degrees, mixing half-way thru
  • line 13x9 inch pan with foil to spread granola in
  • mix all dry ingredients in very large bowl, or stock pot (I like to use my 8 qt. pot)
  • heat all glaze ingredients in heavy sauce pan on stove top at medium heat
  • bring to boil, reduce heat stirring constantly, simmer 2 minutes
  • pour glaze over dry ingredients, mix well
  • spread in foil lined pan, smooth flat with back of spoon
  • smooth a LOT, as you want the grains to be packed together so the bars don't fall apart!
  • let sit for 2 hours
  • remove granola in foil and place on counter, using a large knife, cut into bars
  • I like to individually wrap the bars in sandwich bags, because i found out the hard way, that they stick together!

My husband and daughters love granola bars but store bought ones always seem more like cookies. Thanks for this much healthier option!

Well done for avoiding High Frutose Corn Syrup, it is incredibly bad for us humans.
Thankyou for the post I just need to make a few changes to make it low Fodmap (fructose friendly) and then my son can eat it.
no wheat, honey, light brown sugar, almonds and cranberries I am unsure of have to check my lists.
    Thankyou again

I made them tonight and I LOVE them!!! Thank you...they are sooo good and I am so psyched that they are so natural and full of fiber and whole grains! I didn't have any rolled wheat, so I substituted part Grape-nuts and part oat bran. It worked out well! Keep the good recipes coming!!
