gingerbread cake

- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon five spice shopping list
- pinch of salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 egg beaten shopping list
- 1 cup molasses mixed with 1 cup hot black tea (i used lipton) shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
How to make it
- preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- mix all your dry ingredients into a bowl and set aside.
- beat the wet ingredients and sugar together until well mixed. now add the dry mix in three equal batches.
- pour into a greased 9 x 2 pan and smooth top. you can drop it against the counter to remove the air bubbles as well.
- bake for 45 to 55 min. let cool about 10 min.
- i like just a pat of butter on my slice but my daughter prefers a simple glaze.
