Chai Spice Mix For Tea

I usually make my own mix of chai tea spices. I buy the spices on sale. Another trick is that I often put tea bags in my container of mixed spices and leave them in the container so they are infused with the flavor of the mix! Ingredients
- Equal amounts as desired: you don't need them all but taylor as you wish! shopping list
- fennel seeds shopping list
- bruised cardomom pods shopping list
- star anise shopping list
- cinnamon stick shopping list
- corriander seeds shopping list
- whole nutmeg, chopped up shopping list
- allspice berries shopping list
- whole cloves shopping list
- dried ginger root shopping list
- Optional: whole black peppercorns shopping list
- optional: dried organic rose petals shopping list
- milk or half and half shopping list
- Sweetner : sugar or stevia shopping list
- tea bags or loose leaf tea shopping list
How to make it
- I usually place 1/4 cup of mixed spices in a pot with 6 to 8 tea bags and fill with 6 to 8 cups of water.
- Bring all to a boil and simmer 10 minutes or more for desired flavor and color.
- Strain liquid, reserve spices and one can resuse the spices again for a second brew by adding fresh water and more fresh tea bags.
- Because I don't like to add milk and sugar to my tea ( I like my chai tea plain and unsweetend ) ;
- I usually have milk and sugar at the table for quests to add what they want themselves
- Black pepper gives the tea a zing but be careful not to add to much to your mix
- Rose petals also give an exotic touch to the spice mix
