Some Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors

Here are my picks from the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors collection. I find myself buying a LOT of glitters lately, and I'm actually WEARING them all, despite the dreaded removal. (If I'm completely honest...  I peel glitter off a lot of times.  I know it's not good, but it actually doesn't seem do do much damage at all, or I wouldn't keep doing it).

Nicole by OPI - Kendall on the Katwalk (over Khloe Had...)

What an awesome blend of glitters! How had someone not done this combo before (that I've seen)?! I used to think glitters were best on their own (built up to be opaque), but lately I think that they seem to have more depth over a similar base color. Plus they're easier to remove that way. This is stunning in person. Super shiny and eye catching!

Nicole by OPI - Disco Dolls

We all know how much I LOVE gold glitter, and this is no exception. The multicolor glitter in this and it's bronze-gold glitter base just set this one apart. This is two easy coats and it's perfectly opaque. My favorite here, and I knew it would be. *swoon*

Nicole by OPI - Follow Me on Glitter

Seems to be the same formula as Disco Dolls, but with pewter color glitter instead of gold. And somehow, the colors seem to be a little "lost" in this. It is still an awesome color (along with every other charcoal grey glitter), but just not as showy as Disco Dolls. This was two coats on it's own.

Nicole by OPI - Follow Me on Glitter & Wet'n'Wild Diamond in the Rough

I managed to compare this to Diamond in the Rough before I took it off the other day. I think this is the reason I feel that Follow Me is a bit... dull. The holo glitter amongst the grey is just so much more flashy than the colored glitter. Diamond in the Rough also had a slightly bluer base glitter.

Nicole by OPI - Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam

Not sure why I liked this one so much to get it, but it's an awesome teal. Smooth and glossy on it's own, and just plain pretty. Two easy coats.

Nicole by OPI - Khloe Had..., OCC Blackboard, and RBL Teal

I thought I might have a dupe in my collection, but I don't. The two closest I had were Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Blackboard and Rescue Beauty Lounge Teal. Blackboard is obviously much lighter and much greener. Teal looked like a dupe in the bottle, but on the nail it is obviously a tad bit lighter (hard to tell here) and more blue. The funny thing was that Khloe got darker and greener when it dried than when it was first applied. Both Blackboard and Khloe had more of a jelly formula than Teal, which is a very opaque creme. I think my favorite of them was Khloe, because I like green base tones with the darker shade.

Which were your favorites from the Kardashian Kolors?

My version of RBL's Piú Mosso

When Michelle first posted about the Firebird collection from Rescue Beauty Lounge (at All Lacquered Up here), I fell head over heels for Piú Mosso. What an amazing navy blue with fiery copper shimmer!

Since I'm not too big on paying that much for polish (although I have a few RBLs that I love!), I decided I'd try to replicate it using some polishes that I already have. Here are the results:

First I tried CND Effects Copper Shimmer over RBL's Dead Calm but since Copper Shimmer is so dense (is showed up as more of a pearl finish), I decided I'd decant some of it into a partially emptied Wet'n'Wild clear bottle. It turned out to be the perfect copper shimmer - exactly what I was looking for. However, because the clear was not a suspension base, it all settles to the bottom and must be shaken for a while each time I use it.  For the blue, I decided dead calm was a little too bright and wasn't quite as inky as Piú Mosso appeared to be, so instead I used China Glaze Calypso Blue as the base.

All in all I think my version came pretty close to the original.  I think the shimmer in mine might be slightly more prominent in low-lighting than in Piú Mosso, but I think it's just about as fiery in the sunlight!  Overall, it's one of my favorite polish combos I've done in a while!

What do you think?  Did I come close?

Rescue Beauty Lounge Swatches and Review

I tried now to go TOO crazy during the 50% of sale at Rescue Beauty Lounge a couple weeks ago. I got five new polishes and I figured I'd swatch them all and put up my review (even though there are plenty out there already).

Rescue Beauty Lounge Plie

The first one I tried was Plie. Like All Lacquered Up, I was drawn to Plie even though pinks are so not my thing (especially light girly ones). But after I put it on my four swatch fingers, I just had to put it on the rest (thus delaying the rest of the swatches). I absolutely love this color. It's a bit warm-toned and dusty, and it looked great on my skin tone. It's seems thin, but it's pretty opaque and easy to work with. This is two coats.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Au Chocolat

The second one is Au Chocolat. It's a reddish-brown creme/jelly. It has nice buildup to opacity in just two coats, but somehow manages to have that glossy jelly look. It's very nice, and doesn't look black even in low light.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Orbis Non Sufficit

This is such an awesome green, and I'm so glad I got it because I have nothing like it in my collection! The dusty quality really sets it apart. It's also almost perfect in one coat, but I like the slightly thicker look of two coats.

Rescue Beauty Lounge No More War

This one is so cool, but you really have to like that olivey brownish-green murky type of color. I do have something similar (NOT a dupe) in my collection: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Swamp Thing. I decided to do a quick comparison for you here. You can see that Swamp Thing is a couple shades darker and sometimes looks more green, sometimes more brown. No More War definitely has a tad more yellow.

I also got Medium White, but it doesn't look right by itself in my opinion (even after three coats), but I may do an America/French manicure with it to show it off in the near future.

Overall, I'm very pleased with all of the polishes I got from this sale. They are all of excellent quality and I will certainly be wearing each one more than once! The sale is no longer going on, but you can still purchase RBL polishes here.
