Essie Winter 2010 Part 1

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas! Mine was a little hectic as we had to visit three lots of family, but all in all I had a lovely Christmas. I was also a very lucky girl and was given a new camera! Say hello to my new Canon DSLR!

This means no more crappy swatch photos! However, it also means I am going to have to look after my cuticles better (as you will see from the photos below!). Apologies in advance for the horrible cuticles! :s Please also excuse the nubbins. I had a killer break on my middle finger a couple of days ago so I had to file them all down *cries*.

Today I have swatches of three of the new colours from Essie's Winter 2010 collection. The collection consists of 6 chic and elegant wintery colours. Even though it is summer here in Oz, the colours are so gorgeous, I will definitely be wearing them!

Check out the pics after the jump!

Zoya - Cheryl

Hey everyone! Today I'm wearing Zoya Cheryl from their recent Wicked & Wonderful collection.

Cheryl has a dark brown/chocolate base with tons and tons of copper and gold microglitter. It is one of those "lit from within" colours which I absolutely love. Cheryl applies so well! If you were really careful with your application you could probably get away with one coat. I did two coats just to be safe and added one coat of Seche. Absolutely stunning!

You can really see the copper and gold micro glitter in this closeup.

I have exams over the next couple of weeks, so I might be MIA for the next few days, but I will try my best to post as often as I can! :D

Butter London - Fash Pack

I walked into the newsagent near my work this morning and saw a stack of Harpers Bazaar magazines with little bottles of polish attached to them. Initially, I was like "meh, its probably going to be some crappy brand and some even crappier colour".... Magazines giveaways are always sh** in my opinion, so I wasn't expecting much...  And then I saw a flash of taupey goodness staring back at me with a shiny black lid..... And I realised at that moment, it was none other than Butter London's Fash Pack...

This polish has constantly eluded me. I saw it on some blog that I can't even remember the name of, about what feels like 200 years ago, and knew it had to be mine.  I tried to order it from Lehved here in Australia, tried to find it online, even resorted to evilBay, but it was always sold out, or overpriced or shipping was outrageous. So I really don't know how to explain how content I feel having this polish in my Helmer now.... :p

Fash Pack is like China Glaze Ingrid's meeker, more taupe little sister. It definitely leans brown and has a fine gold shimmer in it, which is more apparent in the bottle than on the nail. However, it isn't nearly as dark or as brown as Ingrid. As a result, I found it to be much more wearable than Ingrid.

Application was a little streaky on the first coat but it evened out perfectly with the second coat. I used a quick coat of Seche QD and voilĂ !

Chanel Les Khakis de Chanel Nail Collection

I finally got around to doing some swatches today. Sadly yesterday I was told by my vet that my dog is not going to get better so we have to put him to sleep on Monday morning. I am devastated to say the least. Anyway enough of my sadsack stories...!

The much anticipated Les Khakis de Chanel collection was released on the 10th September for Fashion's Night Out and I went and snapped up one of each of the colours straight away! I couldn't believe it, but Khaki Vert sold out while I was at the counter! A woman came in and bought 5 of each colour! I'm glad I didn't wait to buy these babies.

With that said, as I anticipated, I'm not sure these colours actually suit my skin tone. However, they are some of the best quality Chanel polishes I have ever used. The colour is extremely opaque for all three and they could all easily be 1 coaters, but I did 2 just in case. I will advise as to dry time and wear once I've had them on for a few days...

Essie - Angora Cardi

Since the nails on my poor left hand are still recovering I thought I'd introduce my right hand, which hopefully will rarely been seen in the future :P

Today I wore Essie Angora Cardi, and it is love! This colour is a mixture of red, brown and purple - a kind of mauve I guess. We are at the end of winter here in Australia and this nail polish is such an appropriate colour for the season! I found it to be really flattering on me as well.

Application was a little iffy. First coat was streaky but it evened out pretty well on the second coat. I found it to be a bit thick and as such I was worried about dry time, but with a good coat of Seche Vite, dry time was quite good :)

China Glaze - Ingrid (with Chanel Illusion D'or)

Today I am wearing China Glaze Ingrid from the new Vintage Vixen collection for fall. I then layered Chanel's Illusion D'or over the top.

Ingrid is a new variation on the taupe/mushroom trends we have seen this year. However to me, Ingrid is far more of a chocolate brown than a taupe. It also has a very fine gold shimmer in it which you can see in the bottle pic above.
