We caught a story on StrategyInformer.com regarding the cancellation of Sega's/Obsidian's Aliens RPG. Citing a former Obsidian employee's LinkedIn page, which lists ex-Designer David Kondor's work experience, it is noted that the most recent entry contains, "Designer for canceled third-person action Aliens RPG (Xbox 360, PS3, & PC)." Originally announced over two years ago, Sega has yet to release an official comment on its cancellation with PR reps stating, "We're not commenting on speculation and rumors on this matter at this time."

Gabe says: Well this is a shame as I have loved past games based on the "Alien" films. Of course, none of those have been RPGs and I must admit that the prospect of one seems intriguing, but also kind of unfeasible. Maybe I'm just not imaginative enough to conceive of it, but I'm not sure how an Alien RPG would work. Perhaps something similar to The Thing, even though that game was decidedly more action-oriented.

Of course, it's not as though we'll be totally bereft of acid-blooded face-huggery since Aliens: Colonial Marines and Aliens vs. Predator still seem to be on-track for release. The first-person shooter genre seems like a better fit to me anyway, but maybe you can think of a decent implementation of an Alien RPG...
