LucasArts

Multiplatform publisher and developer headquartered in San Francisco, CA. Part of George Lucas' multimedia empire. Most famous for its innovative PC adventure titles and the Star Wars series of computer and console games as well as many other titles and franchises across console, PC and handheld game systems.

LucasArts was formed in 1982 by filmmaker George Lucas to provide an interactive element to his vision of a state-of-the-art, multi-faceted entertainment company. The company was originally known as the "Games Group" and later renamed Lucasfilm Games in 1984 before finally becoming LucasArts.

In 2013, LucasArts announced that it would cease to exist as a publisher and developer, but would continue to license Star Wars and other LucasFilm properties.
