Australian Game Ratings

Current OFLC Ratings

General
Titles rated G (General) have been have been assessed to be appropriate for general audiences. According to the OFLC, the content is "very mild" to impressionable viewers.
PG
Titles rated PG (Parental Guidance Recommended) have been assessed to contain material that may not be appropriate or needs to be explained to children and therefore parental guidance is recommended. According to the OFLC, the content is "mild" to impressionable viewers.
M
Titles rated M (Recommended for Mature Audiences) have been assessed to contain material that is recommended for mature audiences. A mature perspective is required to view this material. According to the OFLC, the content is of "a moderate impact" for impressionable viewers.
MA 15+
Titles rated MA 15+ (Restricted) have been assessed to contain material that is not suitable for people under 15. This is a legally restricted category. A person under the age of 15 years can experience an entertainment product which has an MA 15+ classification, but it is not recommended and also they must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. According to the OFLC, the content is "strong" for impressionable viewers.


Please note that OFLC classifications of R 18+ and X 18+ also exist for film and video. Videogames cannot be classified R 18+ or X 18+.

G
Titles rated with the original G rating have been assessed to be suitable for gamers of all ages.
G8+
Titles rated with the original G8+ rating have been assessed to contain inappropriate for persons under eight years. (G8+ has now been replaced by PG.)
m15+
Titles rated with the original M15+ rating have been assessed to contain material that might be inappropriate for persons under 15 years. (M15++ has now been replaced by M.)
ma15+
Titles rated with the original MA15+ rating have been assessed to contain material that is not suitable for people under 15, and are only allowed to be purchased or played by adults.
