Are you dizzy with excitement about nail polish?

I wore this fabulous and most sparkly manicure for about a week!
I started with two coats of Orly Luxe, then added just a coat of Lippmann Glitter And Be Gay.
I needed two coats of Gelous and then used my Sephora X top coat over everything.
I am very pleased with this and I think Glitter And Be Gay is going to be really rad over lots of polishes!  The base is slightly tinted yellow, though, so you'll want to take that into consideration for layering.
And if you are wondering, like I was, about the small glitters that look really dark, almost black, then I am here to tell you that they are in fact blue.  They just look black at certain angles.
I think it might be a darker blue than the blue used for the larger hexes.
Also, if you haven't taken the time to fully drool over the holographic rainbow-y awesomeness of the bottle (see bottle just above), then please feel free to look over the entire post yet again!  I'm most fond of the third picture and then this one right above.  :)

For a chunky glitter, Glitter And Be Gay applied very easily.  I was careful and cautious, but the glitters dispersed themselves really evenly.  I did use occasional dabbing motions, but by and large it was painting.

I've been having weird luck with my manis lately - some lasting a good, long time and others chipping within a day.  Here are two of the unlucky ones!  This is Deborah Lippmann Let's Go Crazy.  I only needed two coats of polish, and it applied very nicely.  I did, however, use two coats of Gelous over top, plus top coat!
It was super smooth and shiny.  I had a little bit of tip shrink (which annoys me to no end), but it was hardly noticeable in person.  I would definitely like to wear this again, and hopefully for more than a day.
This is one coat of Rescue Beauty Lounge Dead Calm with one coat of  Rainbow Honey Mt. Moon over top.
Dead Calm applied very nicely, but was a bugger to clean up since it stains and clings to the skin so much.
Mt. Moon has a really lovely duochrome shift from blue to purple.  I don't think my pictures here captured it all that well.
With the random flakey white bits, it was almost a galaxy nail type of look!
I was also sad that this one didn't last well on me.  Beautiful, but short-lived.

How many times have you seen me wear sheer nail polish?
And how many times have you seen me wear one coat of a sheer nail polish?!
This is Deborah Lippmann Fairydust, and you guessed it, I am wearing just one coat of it.
I was lucky enough to score this brand new tester for free (yaaay Nordstrom and thankyouverymuch!) and was super excited about it.  It's such a pretty shimmer and I may or may not be a True Blood fan (okay, yeah, I am).
Despite it being a tiny bit streaky, I actually think it looks quite pretty this way.  What do you think?
Here's a picture in blazing hot direct sun.  Oh, and as a bonus, I needed a really quick and easy mani the morning I put this on, and Fairydust served me just perfect for that!  I wore this mani for about five days, as I recall.

I love this polish so so so so much.  It's Deborah Lippmann Swagga Like Us.
I know there are a least a few dupes out there.  I think I love this even more than Chanel Peridot (which I quite like!).  It's a bit more flashy and dramatic.
My pictures only begin to capture the coolness of this polish.  It flashes from blue, to green, to gold, to a bronzy almost coppery sort of color.  SO COOL.
My apologies for the little bubbles.  My amazeballs Sephora X top coat tends to give me a few little bubbles, no matter how careful I am.  I put up with it, though, because HELLO crazy long wear time.  :)

This is two coats of Essie Come Here.  I really like this color (lately).
Application was very easy but I stupidly chose to use Dior's top coat over top and thus my beautiful mani only lasted about a day.  :(
Next was Lippmann's Sugar Rum Cherry, from a LE holiday Bloomingdales trio set.
I used three coats here and followed with my usual Sephora X top coat.  I got great wear time with this one - around a week.
I made sure to go slowly between coats, as this type of polish finish will always bubble on me if I rush.
The shimmers are really complex and gorgeous.
Not my usual sort of color, if there is such a thing, but I enjoyed wearing it!

This is three coats of Lippmann Sugar Shack.  I recently got the three piece holiday set at Bloomingdales.  They had plenty of them, still!
Call me a sucker for shimmery, duochromey, glass flecked polishes.  The formula is always tricky for me - but I think I've finally mastered it.  I just have to go very slow and wait in between coats.  This prevents bubbles for me, which I find particularly troublesome with this type of finish.
I really love the blue shimmer!  I used Sephora X base and top coats here, which gave me a good three days of wear (better than what I normally get with Lippmanns).
I do wish the formula was more pigmented on this, but again, it seems to go part and parcel with this type of polish finish.  They just are kinda sheer.  Three careful coats did the trick, though, so really, I can't complain.

This is the lovely Phoenix Rising from Lippmann.  It's part of a new set called Rock This Town, and is apparently Limited Edition.  No wonder I love it so.  Never mind the ding in my index finger nail.  I bumped it before everything was dry enough.

I used just two coats and finished with Dior's top coat, which is something new for me.  I've always wanted to try the Dior top coat and recently bought it.  I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.  I know I'm not a fan of the big brush...but formula wise, I need more time to fully evaluate it.  First impressions:  very thin and doesn't dry as fast as I'd like.
These pictures were taken on day two, and I guess that's why I have a small chip on my pinky tip.  Oh well.  At least I managed to get pictures at all!  Last week was kind of crazy.  Since I haven't said so yet, I'll say now that I really love Phoenix Rising.  It's shimmery and fabulous and I always enjoy a good copper.  The other two colors in the set look very promising as well!

I wore this last year on Christmas day.  I didn't take any pictures of it then, though!
This is three coats of Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers.
You can see teeny bubbles in the top coat, but honestly it was not noticeable in real life.  I think I used too thick of a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.  I've read that bubbles can occur when too thick of a coat is used.
Also, I had a heck of a time getting this to dry properly, fully!  I'm wondering if Wicked Fast doesn't agree with Gelous (which I used after the polish and before the WF).  Or maybe it doesn't like Lippmanns?
It actually all worked out fine in the end, despite my worries and fears.  I'm experimenting more with Wicked Fast after reading so many rave reviews about it.
If I had this one to do over, again, I would have used a coat of Boosh as "underwear," then maybe two coats of Ruby Red Slippers, then my new and improved version of Lynnderella's Glitter Tamer (which is officially AWESOME), and then a careful and thin coat of Wicked Fast.

Here are a few quick swatches I did back in July?  I think.  I thought you might like something to tide you over through the duration of my time wearing the Sally Hansen ghosties!  (The ghosties did come off tonight, by the way.)
Above is Nars Vestale, a Nordstrom exclusive from the anniversary sale.  I don't remember how many coats, to be honest.  It was two or three, but I'm leaning toward just two.  :)
Here is Sephora by OPI My Personal Serpent from this year's Fall collection.  This was either one or two coats because this polish is surprisingly very opaque.

Here is Lippmann Billionaire.  Two or three coats - I'm not sure.  Sorry!

And last but not least, Lippmann Stormy Weather.
I wish that I had written down how many coats each of the swatches were.  I regret that!  None of the swatches shown here feature any top coat.

This Is Me!

My photo
I love color, beauty, creativity, animals, and being care-free. I'm not care-free, in reality, but would like to think it's an attainable state of being! I do like to bend the rules when it serves a greater purpose and I'm all about being authentic. Here I am, take me or leave me! I suppose I'd call myself a sensitive soul. I think I feel things more deeply and ponder things more thoroughly than your average bear.
