Are you dizzy with excitement about nail polish?

I only snapped these two quick pics of this mani from last week.  It was one coat of KleanColor Metallic Mango followed by a dabbed on coat of Candeo Divebomb.
I used a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Quencher and then Out the Door to finish.  I was reminded why I always hated Nail Quencher - bubbles!!  At least they hid a little bit because of the glitters.

This is two coats of Cult Nails Quench, a lovely red jelly, with two coats of KleanColor Chunky Holo Scarlet.
Quench is ever so slightly pink-toned and Chunky Holo Scarlet is obviously not actually holo - the glitter pieces are iridescent and flash red, yellow, orange, and green.
I apologize for the less than amazing pictures!  The sun was setting and I didn't get a chance to take better pictures later as my mani chipped at around 24 hours.  Major bummer!  It definitely reminded me of my previous Essie Ruby Slippers mani, though.  It had that kind of glowy depth and firey beauty.
Also, it must be said:  KleanColors stink quite literally and I think I may have to give up on them entirely as they do not ever want to fully dry on me!  I used three coats of different quick dry top coats on this mani and while it was top-layer dry very quickly, it remained dent-able and did not completely dry for hours and hours and hours.  Seriously.  Like, more than eight hours.  This is not okay, people!!  It must be a body chemistry thing.  It makes me very sad because I've acquired quite a few lovely KC glitters and shimmers and whatnot.

I have had a tumultuous relationship thus far with Glitter Gal's Light as a Feather polish.

After two failed attempts to use it the other day (results were no bueno), I decided to give it another go today. I started with Seche Vite top coat (I've heard that this makes a good Aqua Base substitute) and then did three coats, waiting around five minutes or more between coats.

It's better! But I have lots of bubbles. :( Bubbles are unacceptable, Nation. I cannot live with bubbles. Oh, and the picture above is my favorite.

I've since added a coat of Gelous over top, at the advice of the awesome women of MUA (Nail Board, of course). This seems to have helped a tiny bit, and thankfully, does not appear to have dulled the holo whatsoever.

The picture below is included to show you the truth of the bubble situation. It is not for the faint of heart. Look away if you must!!

I'm thinking that I may need to put some China Glaze Shooting Stars over it all.

Update! I have since added KleanColor My Valentine. See what you think.

I actually really like how it turned out!

I know it takes away from the subtleness of the holo, but I just couldn't live with the bumpiness.

And I love the colors of the glitters together. :)

You can still see the holo peeking through a little.

What do you think? Will you forgive me for my glittery sins?

EDIT: Afterthoughts. This mani hardly made it past the 12 hour mark! I'm wondering if it's the SV as a base coat that is to blame. It just peeled off in sheets, like plastic stickers. :( Oh well! You win some, YOU LOSE SOME.

I'm being a big nerd here, but it's nearly time for True Blood! Of course, I am wearing Zoya Sooki.

Sooki pretty much blew me away. It applied perfectly and was opaque in just one coat! I did go ahead and do a second coat, though, just to be sure. On me, it's a neutral-leaning-warm classic bright red creme.

I was kind of scared to wear it on its own, so I added a layer of KleanColor V.I.P., which seemed fitting.

I have to say, I love these pictures very much, but actually wearing it in real life, it's kind of freaking me out. I just don't think I like red on my long-ish nails.

V.I.P. reminds me of Revlon Slipper. Remember that one?

So who else is wearing Sooki right now? 'Fess up! :)

Let's hope it's a great first show for season four!

It cracks like molten hot, purplelicious magma!

This is one of those manis that got out of hand (no pun intended) pretty quickly. You know the ones? You start out one way, thinking it will look just so, and then you keep going and going because it's just not exactly quite what you expected?

I used two coats of NYX Girls Nude White as "underwear." Then I layered on two coats of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell. After that, a coat of Sally Hansen Crackle in Vintage Violet.

This is my first time using a Sally Hansen Crackle for a mani. I've only played with it before, and was actually kind of scared that it would never crack right for me. Overall, I think it cracked pretty well and I'm satisfied with the outcome.

Ever since I saw the polish, read the name, I knew I had to have NYX Girls Pimp My Nail! Oh man, I just love it!

I started with three coats. It's a neon jelly but actually did not dry matte. Odd.

I added one coat of KleanColor Holo Green.

I'm pretty sure it was still fairly wet in these pictures, so that explains any gushy-looking-ness you might see.

It turned out fun!

Oh yeah, that pic looked really squishy!

Pimp my nail! Yeah, baby, yeah!!!

I was still in my blue phase! I started with two coats of MAC Ming Blue.

This has a good application and is quite pigmented.

For bling, I used Kleancolor Starry Meteor, one coat.

Nice! I like it!

Kleancolor makes some really unique and cool glitters!

I love the intense silver glitter. It's so shiny!

Folks, this fine post comes to you all the way from Slippery Rock, PA! I'm on a little vacay, visiting my best bud until Tuesday. I haven't been back to the Pittsburgh area since I moved just over two years ago! I'm looking forward to visiting some old haunts and seeing good friends. :) Off to the 'Burgh and the Zoo!

Check out this hot holo combo! I used Kleancolor Disco Purple as the base (three coats) and topped it with Holo Chrome.

The bottle shown above is Disco Purple. It's a really great blurple shimmer.

Holo Chrome is AWESOME. It's a purple holo that leans just a bit blue, although not quite as blue as it seems to appear in my pictures. They're pretty close to being color accurate, though!

I threw out the top cap cover thingy on Holo Chrome, along with several others from my Kleancolor order, because they arrived in a weird semi-melted state. How bizarre!

I ordered from Kleancolor's site.

They have a really great range of colors and finishes. They also have swatch pictures of all the colors on Flickr! The brushes aren't my favorite, but they're not the worst, either. Also, you should know that these puppies smell pretty strong! They have a nice toxic waste sort of scent but it honestly doesn't bother me too much. Is that bad? :)

I like this last shot because it shows off the cool little blue sparkle hiding in that mess of holo. Secret blue sparkle! Woo hoo!

This Is Me!

My photo
I love color, beauty, creativity, animals, and being care-free. I'm not care-free, in reality, but would like to think it's an attainable state of being! I do like to bend the rules when it serves a greater purpose and I'm all about being authentic. Here I am, take me or leave me! I suppose I'd call myself a sensitive soul. I think I feel things more deeply and ponder things more thoroughly than your average bear.
