I've been having a little bit of trouble with my Glitter Gal holos. They don't seem to enjoy being worn alone, at least on me. I find that they are a thick and like to bubble. Solution? Matching underwear!

Above is two supremely easy coats of OPI Swimsuit, Nailed It! It's the perfect underwear for Glitter Gal Marine Blue holo.

I used a coat of Seche Vite over Swimsuit, Nailed It! Then, I painted on a coat of Marine Blue.

I was very pleased with the results! Also, it wore extremely well on me.

Swimsuit, Nailed It! is an absolutely gorgeous color on its own, I have to say. It glows from within and is such a looker! Sadly, it does stain the nails and skin, so you'd want to use a good base coat and be particular about your removal method.

I'm not ruling out any future Glitter Gal purchases, but for now, I much prefer the formula of Ozotic holos.

If you've missed me over the past couple of weeks, thanks! I've missed you, too! I was busy taking a much needed vacation and also turning *gulp* the big 3-Oh. Yup. Can't believe it's true.

From my adventures I can say that Sanibel Island and Siesta Key are fabulous and gorgeous! I just love the Gulf of Mexico. Also, I really enjoyed getting to go to Discovery Cove yesterday. It's a really fun place filled with lots of beautiful animals and fish.

The nails have been taking quite a beating with all the sun, sand, salt water, and chlorine, but they are looking well now with a little filing and a fresh coat of Poshe. I've been wearing Sephora nail patches for the past six days (the cute new metallic leopard ones). They are holding out pretty well, I have to say!

Over my birthday, I wore Del Sol Trick or Treat polish that glitters and changes from orange to black. I didn't take any pictures of it...but it's such a cool polish! I'll have to swatch it for pictures and/or just wear it again soon. :)

That's all for now! I'll be back to regular posts. I hope you are all doing well!

I have had a tumultuous relationship thus far with Glitter Gal's Light as a Feather polish.

After two failed attempts to use it the other day (results were no bueno), I decided to give it another go today. I started with Seche Vite top coat (I've heard that this makes a good Aqua Base substitute) and then did three coats, waiting around five minutes or more between coats.

It's better! But I have lots of bubbles. :( Bubbles are unacceptable, Nation. I cannot live with bubbles. Oh, and the picture above is my favorite.

I've since added a coat of Gelous over top, at the advice of the awesome women of MUA (Nail Board, of course). This seems to have helped a tiny bit, and thankfully, does not appear to have dulled the holo whatsoever.

The picture below is included to show you the truth of the bubble situation. It is not for the faint of heart. Look away if you must!!

I'm thinking that I may need to put some China Glaze Shooting Stars over it all.

Update! I have since added KleanColor My Valentine. See what you think.

I actually really like how it turned out!

I know it takes away from the subtleness of the holo, but I just couldn't live with the bumpiness.

And I love the colors of the glitters together. :)

You can still see the holo peeking through a little.

What do you think? Will you forgive me for my glittery sins?

EDIT: Afterthoughts. This mani hardly made it past the 12 hour mark! I'm wondering if it's the SV as a base coat that is to blame. It just peeled off in sheets, like plastic stickers. :( Oh well! You win some, YOU LOSE SOME.

This Is Me!

My photo
I love color, beauty, creativity, animals, and being care-free. I'm not care-free, in reality, but would like to think it's an attainable state of being! I do like to bend the rules when it serves a greater purpose and I'm all about being authentic. Here I am, take me or leave me! I suppose I'd call myself a sensitive soul. I think I feel things more deeply and ponder things more thoroughly than your average bear.
