Are you dizzy with excitement about nail polish?

I recently found a really pretty mood polish at Claire's. It looked blurple with a blue shimmer in the bottle. I had to have it! It's called Relaxed/Hyper.

I used three coats here, and topped it with one coat of Paul & Joe 014.

Well, the Relaxed/Hyper looks totally different on my nails, as compared to the bottle. It's more turquoise into cobalt. Still very pretty, but no lovely blurple to be found!

The Paul & Joe glitter is really fun because it has sort of pastel multi-colored glitter. I'm not sure if it's scented like the other P&J I've worn before. I have a major head cold and cannot smell.

The long nails are officially driving me crazy! I'm definitely going to have to shape them and take off a wee bit of length tonight.

For this mani I started with three coats of Claire's Mood Polish in Innocent/Daring.

As you can see, it looks quite gray in the bottle. On the nail, it goes from a somewhat bright peach to a deeper blue toned gray.

My hands were pretty warm in these pics, no thanks (or maybe thanks) to the Florida blazing hot sun. The tips usually look more blue most of the time - which is really neat.

I finished with a coat of L.A. Girl Glitter Addict Celebrate.

I really like how the colors all look together!

I only wish Claire's polishes lasted longer on me. I got a pretty big chip on my right thumbnail less than 24 hours after I had put it on. :(

Last night I was sitting on a blue-gray couch and looked down to find my nails perfectly matched the couch. I was cold...and it was an odd moment. I felt a bit like a chameleon!

It's been entirely too long since I've posted. I apologize for my absence! I'm not sure why I've been dragging my heels about blogging lately. Maybe just a rut? Maybe just tired from work. I n any case, I'm still around, still painting my nails...oh so frequently! So I do have lots of catch up pics to show you. :)

This is the Claire's Mood Shy/Flirty. I left it matte and actually used a coat of China Glaze Matte Magic as a top coat because I couldn't bear not to put any form of top coat on my mani. Apparently the little white specks are from the Matte Magic and I should've cleaned off the lip of the bottle and/or my brush better (or so I'm told). :)

After hot water.

After cold water.

Now this was a wacky combination that looks very unassuming. I did Claire's Mood in Bored/Excited. Then I topped it with Claire's Mermaid.

That's the Mermaid bottle above. It looked very streaky and uneven, so I threw on China Glaze Shooting Stars, which has a way of making everything look better! (And it did!)

The color change was fairly subtle and showed just like french tips that were a bit more corally than the rest of the nail.

This mani was super duper girly frilly frou-frou for me and it kind of freaked me out at first! But then I embraced it whole-heartedly and had lots of happy thoughts including snowflakes, sparkles, unicorns, icicles, snow cones, ballerinas, rainbow brite, etc.

I think it was Morgan who had asked for tips on how I apply polish in general and I am still going to post that for you soon! Again, I apologize for the delay and thank you for staying with me. :)

EDIT: I have to laugh at myself - it's been so long since I've posted that I conveniently forgot what size photos I normally show. These are quite a bit bigger!! Do you care? Do you like this size better? Let me know if you have an opinion on the matter. Thanks!

Hello, big world! I am giving you all that I've got, picture-wise, that is. I feel bad for not updating all week, plus I've been yucky sick for four days now. Boo sickness! ;( What's worse is that I've had two manis this week that I neglected to photo! Oh, the horror.

Moving right along! The is China Glaze C-C-Courage, the re-release. I did three coats.

It's less blue and more purple, in real life.

It has a lovely, sophisticated shimmer, and itty bitty silver glitter.

I love my purples, and this was no exception!

Next up is Orly Rage. I only needed two coats.

I took a lot of pictures because it is just ridiculously stunning.

In the bottle it looks rose gold, and on my tips it seems somewhat more ambiguous.

Kind of beige, copper, and silver.

It's extremely reflective and shiny!

Very metallic and eye-catching. Love it!

Now get ready for some really fun polish! Claire's Mood in Happy/Earthy. That's right, MOOD POLISH!

When my fingers are hot, it turns neon yellow (with a hint of chartreuse). When they are cold, it goes to a dark, luscious green.

I had dipped my index and middle nails under hot water. Then I dipped them all in cold water, turning them a deep green. It is a warmer, true green, in reality, not nearly as cool as it looks here.

Here they are outside, about how they look normally...if there is such a thing!

Matte, neon, green, thermo-dynamic, jelly!! When will it end?! What next?! :)

The picture that you just saw includes a glimpse of what I lovingly call "dagger nail." It's my right index nail and it has been growing back with a vengeance since I had to do a silk wrap on it a while back due to a horrible break. Now it just won't quit! I don't have the heart to cut it down because I've never in my life had a nail this long!

I know, I'm weird.

I ended up with some underground bubbles, if you will. I'm not too sure why, but I hope you'll overlook them and I'm optimistic that someday soon I can find a remedy for this.

Check out that sexy, dangerous dagger nail again!! Woohoo! I could do some serious damage with that. I'd like to think that some day I can get them all to dagger nail status - that is my ultimate goal. It's not that I particularly like long nails. Really, I don't even think I have a preference. But I am always wanting to push the limits and see how far I can go! I will say that maneuvering through daily life with a dagger nail is interesting and different. I could see how some people say long nails get in the way of performing simple tasks.

I'm going to stop rambling now and hope that you've enjoyed a longer-than normal post. I am hoping to feel better soon and get some serious swatching done!

I finally decided to use some of the decals I've been collecting. Smart! I started with Claire's Pink Rose polish. It has an awesome, subtle golden holo shimmah! In some lights it almost looks like a lime green shimmah. Then I used decals from Fing'rs Edge, the Royal Punk set.

I apologize that some of the pictures are blurry - my zoom had a mind of its own that night!

The picture below is ridiculous (bad) but I had to include it because the bottle shimmah is so gorgeous!!

The black skull with the heart eye patch is my favorite, I think.

I was impatient in putting on the decals so I didn't wait until my polish was totally dry. I think it might have turned out a little better if I had waited, but then I had the dilemma of not wanting to put a layer of quick dry top coat on top of a basically dry mani (and risking peeling and shrinking).

This was lots of fun and lasted a few days for me (which is good), so I'll definitely be using more decals in the future! :D

I did a Konad last week and it was pretty wild and crazy. I started with Claire's Neon Burst and did three coats. Then I used a design from plate S06 with Konad Princess Gold Black polish. It's a bit smudgy and I didn't get the placement spot on, but I thought I'd share anyway. It's not always about perfection, right? :)

Truthfully, I had a really hard time making this one work! I ended up scrapping my first attempt when I was all done save for one nail. I thought that I would be able to do much, much better on my second attempt. Not so much!

It kind of reminds me of hallucinogenic smudgy tiger stripes.

Or hypnotic neon tribal shields.

I get really annoyed with certain full plate designs that don't really fit my big thumb nails. Sometimes I can double stamp them partially and make it work. With this one I couldn't see how to do that.

It was fun and a learning experience, so I'm totally glad I went for it. I'm trying to build up my Konad skills because I want to become an ex-pert, yo!

This Is Me!

My photo
I love color, beauty, creativity, animals, and being care-free. I'm not care-free, in reality, but would like to think it's an attainable state of being! I do like to bend the rules when it serves a greater purpose and I'm all about being authentic. Here I am, take me or leave me! I suppose I'd call myself a sensitive soul. I think I feel things more deeply and ponder things more thoroughly than your average bear.
