Shame on me for posting such crummy pictures of such a fantastic polish!!  EEK!
This is two coats of Chanel Taboo, a gloriously beautiful and shimmery vampy purple.
Application was easy, although it was getting thick on the second coat, so I could see it needing a few drops of thinner next time around.
I absolutely love this.  It's just so pretty.  It has blue, red, shimmer, and deep purple components - some of my very favorites.
I hope to wear it again soon and take some worthy pictures for you all (including bottle shots, no less!).

I should not have waited so long to wear this beauty.  I'm sure you read that a lot on blogs (and, no doubt, have read it before on here)!  I am ga-ga in love with Star Gazer 161.
I used three coats here and topped it with Butter London's top coat.  Application was easy.  The brush was a little bit fluffier than I like, but didn't give me any trouble.
Yes, it looks almost black in most lights.  But I see the purple!  I know it's purple.  And the shimmer is just...*speechless*
A very special thank you to the very special lady who made this dream possible and gave me this stunning polish!  <3 p="">
This wore well for three days on me.  I switch up my base and top combos so much that I can't help but wonder if it would have worn even better had I used Sephora X base and top.  Nonetheless, three days is respectable enough for me!

I recently bought the new Sephora X base coat, top coat, and two polishes.  I was very anxious to try them as I've heard various things about the formula already.
The X line is supposed to provide a gel-like shine and wear with very good opacity.  I immediately thought, "Well, I'll be the judge of that!"
This mani is a coat of the X base, two very easy coats of Deranged, and a coat of the X top coat.  While Deranged looks a lot like Orly Galaxy Girl, I feel pretty confident saying that they are not dupes.
Deranged has more of a pinky-red to blue flash that is very apparent and duo cool while Galaxy Girl has a more prominent turquoise flash.  There is also more of a purple feel to Deranged and more of a burgundy feel to Galaxy Girl.  I'm going to go out on a limb, not having compared them side to side, and say that Deranged is more complex and awesome.
So, how's the wear, you ask?  It's pretty great so far!  I'm on the end of day four right now and I have a tiny chip on the corner of my right index finger.  I also have some tip wear, but it's not very apparent.  Overall, so far, I am impressed.  Also, the top coat dried reasonably quick.  I was terribly worried that my mani would take an eternity to dry without using quick dry top coat.  I painted these four layers without waiting (or hardly) in between, sprayed everything with quick dry spray, then waited about 25 minutes.  Then I got ready for my day!  They were dry enough to function easily.
I don't love the bottles (the caps get all wonky), most of the names bother me, they are smaller than $OPI and more expensive, but so far I am pleased with the new Sephora X line of polishes.  If they all perform this well, then I'd say it could be worth it to me to pay more.  Time will tell.

As far as I know, this new polish line is available on sephora.com and in very few select stores (should be in all stores around next summer).

Forgive my relatively lame photos of Cult Nails I Got Distracted.  Despite the pic being blurry, check out how cool and holo-rific the bottle looks above!!
I used two coats of I Got Distracted, a coat of Shimmer Glass, then a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.  While they look mostly smooth here, they are actually pretty bumpy in real life.
My wear has been quite good, though, so I am pleased.  I'm on day four right now with some minor tip wear.  This is a gorgeous and unique color that I instantly adore.  The first coat applied a little less than perfect but everything was just peachy by the second coat.
The base of this polish looked deep blue as I was applying the first coat.  The overall effect appears to be black with lots of green and holo glitter.  It's SO PRETTY.  Very space-y looking!

I've been feeling like wearing darker Fall colors lately, so it was only natural that I grabbed Barry M Red Black to try.  It did not disappoint!
I used three coats here.  It was a great application and I had good wear.  I did mess something up to end up with a few bubbles within a couple nails (you can see them mostly on my pinky), but fortunately it hardly showed in real life, thus I was able to cope with it.  :)
Anyone else really feeling the vampies right now?  I'm also trying them more on my lips, too!

Here are the ever amazing swatches of Starlight and Sparkles' upcoming additions to the Mythological collection.  They will be available for purchase in Issa's Etsy shop here on Tuesday!  All swatches are shown over base coat but with no top coat (also, minimal, if any, clean up was used).
Remember Unicorn Tears over black yesterday?  Well, here it is on its own, at three coats.  It did not need the undies, after all!
I'm sure Unicorn Tears would look amazing over deep purple, as well.  That would be a good way to conserve.
This is two coats of Dragon Breath.  At first glance, I supposed this was a standard blue green sort of holo.  As soon as I put it on, though, I realized how really special and spectacular it is!
It's almost an exact match for the color of my pool water!
This has an underlying duochrome aspect to it.  It's not just a flat blue or blue green, but seems to shift ever so slightly depending on lighting and angles.
Am I crazy?  Do you see it, too?
Very, very cool!  This applied easily, as well, and has a great formula.  No bubbles or streaks.
This is two coats of Unicorn Spell.  I have a weakness for "unicorn" anything, I must confess.  And throw in purple and I'm a total sentimental mush ball!  I had a purple unicorn with rainbows bed set as a child (and a beautiful wooden canopy bed).
The base color reminds me of grape juice, sort of (both the drink and the China Glaze polish).
This is an easy, beautiful, no-brainer purple holo.
What's that?  You want MORE purple holo?!
Take a look at Phoenix Fire!  I believe I used three coats for this one.  (Should have written it down!)
It's a shifty red-toned plum purple that is really quite mesmerizing.
See how in the picture above, it looks more burgundy at the ends of my nails and more purple by the cuticles?
So pretty!  Love, love, love it!
Again, I had no trouble with bubbles or application issues (as can happen with holos).  I tried to wait a little bit in between coats, but sometimes I was in a hurry to catch the sun and fortunately nothing bad happened because of it.  :)
Okay.  So this is fanfreakingtastic.  Hence, I took a million pictures of it.
Check out three coats of Phoenix Feathers.
This one is a show-stopper, in my opinion.  In the bottle, you can often see a complete rainbow of shimmer!!  I apologize that my pictures fail to capture that.
I also have to point out the obvious here and say that Phoenix Feathers reminds me a whole lot of my beloved and tragically very spendy Clarins 230!!  I did not do comparisons (sorry), but my guess is that 230 is more sheer.
Just like with 230, I tried desperately to photograph the elusive green flash!  You can *almost* see it in the above two pictures.  Almost.  You can also pretty much see the rainbow effect in the bottom of the bottle in the pic just above.
It absolutely glows from within, like it's lit by firey embers!
 I am in love!
Last, but certainly not least, is Dragon Scales.  I am wearing three coats here.
These first few pictures were taken during a thunderstorm.  YES.  I was not very happy about the sun situation.  It had not started raining yet, then, but was very dark and creepy out.
I really like the dark pictures, but figured it would be unfair not to show Dragon Scales in full blazing sun.  So, I wore it on just four of my fingers all last evening and this morning (even out to dinner last night!).  If I'm honest...it's still on my left four fingers while all the rest are bare!
Sunny pics from this morning.  This one is mainly a lush, rich green, but has hints of blue in the base, which make it all the more lovely.
The shimmer is ridiculously pretty and alive, as you can see here.  I cannot decide if I love Phoenix Feathers or Dragon Scales more.
This entire collection is stunning and breath-takingly beautiful.  I am beyond impressed!  And I'm not just saying that because Issa graciously provided all of these to me for review purposes.  Holy cow, Issa!  You are making some deliciously fabulous nail polish!!  Way to go!  <3 p="p">
As I understand it, the holo polishes will be limited edition.  Also, I have missed swatching three other Mythological polishes:  Unicorn, Phoenix, and Dragon (which are color shifting top coats).  I will be sure to post those as soon as I can swatch them.

I actually have even more Starlight and Sparkles polishes waiting to be swatched and reviewed, so I hope you are looking forward to that as much as I know I am.  :)

This Is Me!

My photo
I love color, beauty, creativity, animals, and being care-free. I'm not care-free, in reality, but would like to think it's an attainable state of being! I do like to bend the rules when it serves a greater purpose and I'm all about being authentic. Here I am, take me or leave me! I suppose I'd call myself a sensitive soul. I think I feel things more deeply and ponder things more thoroughly than your average bear.
