may day and storytelling

music credit: Stardust by Lena

We are so lucky to live in a beautiful little village,
and every May on of our absolute highlights
in the May Day Fayre.
We love that we can stroll across the bridge from our home
and be right in the thick of the fun.
It's such a lovely, fun
and quintessentially English event
and it always feels like the beginning of our summer.
This year I filmed our day
so that we could share it.

autumn adventures

Damp days don't bother my children.
Add a cosy coat and a pair of wellies
and damp autumnal days are perfect.
It just means oozy mud to play in
and puddles to splash through.

And when you have Mummy and Daddy to entertain you
and your Nanny and Pops as well,
well then it's just a recipe for adventures in the woods.

one day {august}

One of the best bits about life with children
is that no two days are ever quite the same.
Children surprise you,
you surprise yourself.
You have busy, exciting days.
And you have simple, ordinary days.
And those days can often be the best.

Just life
as a family,
exactly the way I want to remember it.
Simple and beautiful.

one day: the weekend edition {july}

Holidaying with children
means different kinds of holidays to before.
It means "staycationing" instead of far off climes.
It means low key evenings instead fancy nights out.
It means room for travel cots instead of big sumptuous beds.
But it also means big smiles,
heaps of fun,
copious laughter
and time spent togther.
And I know I wouldn't trade those for anything.

one day {june}

Blogging has given me some fantastic opportunities
as well as some brilliant friends.

On Sunday we had the fantastic opportunity
to spend the day at Legoland
with some of those brilliant friends,
all as a result of being a MAD Blog Award finalist.

We had an amazing day at Legoland Windsor.
I had been unsure how much fun my fairly young children were going to have,
but I needn't have worried.
We spent our day with the gorgeous family behind Mummy Daddy Me,
and we all had so much fun.

With Mads at his side my beautiful boy had a blast,
my beautiful girl and LL loved watching all the hustle and bustle going on,
the hubby got to go on some thrillseeking rides with Mr E,
and Katie and I had a really great natter.

On top of that we got to meet up with some of my favourite blogger friends.
Some who I've met before,
and some of whom I was only meeting for the first time,
but who felt like old friends.
Funny how that happens with blogging...!

I'm so glad I captured our day on video,
it was such a great adventure.

one day {may}

There is something so special about video
and the way that is captures memories.
I absolutely love taking and looking at photos
but video is so real and so alive.

And I loved making and sharing our 'one day' in april
so I've decided to make it into a little series,
where I'll share a family day from start to finish.
Just one random day in our lives.

Capturing the real memories of our family
at this exact moment in time.
The moments when my husband carries our first born on his shoulders.
The moments I see each morning as we start our day together with cuddles and a play in bed.
The moments when the beautiful boy was enchanted by seeing a fairy story come to life.
The moments where the beautiful girl's face erupts into smiles and laughter.

Our real life.
Just one day of it.

one day

If there is one thing that being a parent has taught me
it's that life goes in a flash once you have children.
It seems barely last week that we were newlyweds
moving into our first home
and bringing home our fluffy babies to play house.
And I sometimes look at our life
with our two beautiful children
and wonder how on earth we got here.

Life with two children is a series of "pinch-me-I-must-be-dreaming" moments
but it's also about just that; life.
And life looks different in each family.
Life also looks different from one month to the next when your children are tiny.

And like most parents
I am desperate to keep a hold of these baby days
and to remember every detail
because I know how fleeting childhood is.

So this video is an attempt at recording a day.
One day.
A family day.
With an adventure to the farm,
but also with all the normal bits that make up our every days.
Because making these memories is important.

11.11.11

11.11.11
Isn't there something lovely about that as a date?
So pretty and balanced.

And it was a special date for us
because it marked a special point.
The little guy was born after 39 weeks and 5 days of pregnancy.
And 11.11.11 marked 39 weeks and 4 days of life in the outside world.
It was the very last day when I had been his home for longer.
