What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Meet two amazing Pentecostal dogs

"Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole." ~ Roger Caras  It was my my husband's idea to get Max and Maddie in the first place. I resisted the thought of getting another dog, because I know what it takes to really care for them properly. It's a huge investment of time, energy and money.  We got not one but two dogs. I promptly fell head-over-heels in love with them and the rest is history. Max is a mix of American Bulldog & Olde English Bulldog.  Maddie is a mix of English Bulldog and Boxer. We go places and do things on our day off but I can't wait to get back home to them. Being away on our day off no longer has the same appeal that it used to. And I don't get as excited about vacation as I previously did because it means leaving them. I anticipate a good time on trips, but it's kind of a double edged sword because it means being away from them and I know no matter how good anyone cares for them they don't ...

Portraits of thanks

I'm thankful for my amazing family.  I'm thankful for my home.    I'm thankful for our amazing church !  This is a photo from our Thanksgiving dinner last Sunday night.  The best ever! I'm thankful for this sweet BFF who never leaves my side.  This is Maxie last night sitting next to me while I updated facebook.  He sits right next to me just like this whenever I work on the computer.  A constant, faithful, sweet friend.   When he wants me to stop typing and give him a little more attention he touches me with his paw and I love on him a little before going back to work. Thankful for this sweet girl -- our miracle!  Maddie lights our world with love.  Her scar is a reminder to us of where she was and how far she's come, and that God does answer prayer.  I'm thankful for the street we live on, for the nice sidewalks I walk on every day. I'm thankful for the sights I see on my walks everyday in our neighborhood. ...

Puppy love

Savanna and Maddie I wanted more children after Dustin turned 18, but my husband declared us done in that department.  It was probably just as well as I sometimes have a hard time keeping up with the children I do have.  On the other hand, does ANY parent really stay on top of it 100% all the time?  Who really IS ever ready to have a kid, or more kids? At any rate, it's not an option for me anymore and I have thrown my energy that I would have thrown toward another child toward our two dogs.  I really consider them to be my new babies on the scene and can't thank Larry enough for insisting that we add them to our family.  I don't like being away from them, and think about them all the time when we're apart.  I give them both plenty of TLC each day and can't imagine life without them.  Every day I hold them both and pray a prayer over them for health and long life.  They are so easy to  love.

The life and times of Max and Maddie

I know, I know...yet another post about my dogs.  You can't imagine how much joy they bring me at the intersection of all my responsibilities -- they are such a treat to come home to.  Dogs are always overwhelmingly happy to see you, rarely complain and are very happy with the same food everyday.  :)  These two never want to leave my side and shower me with lots of love.  Although they are incredibly loving dogs if they get any inkling at all that someone or something might be a danger to me or a member of my family, they go BERSERK!   Dogs are basically perfectly amazing, don't you think?  Yeah, they are work but they are so worth it. I feel about bones like Momma feels about chocolate!  I didn't do it!  I swear! Sittin' on Momma's lap.  (See her zebra slipper?)   It's rough being a P.D.  (pastor's dog)  I think I might need some counseling. Love will keep us together... Then again, get...

Fun Friday with the pups

The majority of my day yesterday was spent just how I love to spend Friday best --  at home in the quiet.   Yesterday I hung out with the dogs and did some things around the house  that I love to do most like cooking!  I pulled out the camera to take some candid shots during our time together.  I am just crazy about my pups, for anyone who hasn't figured it out yet.   A little too much partying last night...my head is killin' me! Watchin' Momma cook...lickin' my chops -- smells so good! Hello Mr. Fishy...how are you today?  Just checkin' ya out. Alarm just went off this morning...haven't had my coffee or shower yet...   Is this my best side? Oops!  She caught me!  (This is Maxie...he's always getting in some kinda mischief!)
