Sew Quirky Cushions

In an effort to finish long overdue projects, I turned our applique projects into cushions.

These fun designs are from a designer called: Sew Quirky. Joe & I undertook a class with her a couple of years ago on my birthday and Joe loved the class so much but we never really had a chance to finish them at home as life just got in the way.
My project was the panda but this adorable doggie was Joe's. Didn't he do an awesome job! He was only 8 when he did it!

I had to wrestle with pins & pompoms for a bit but I got there, also, it's kind of fun to wrestle with pompoms!

I absolutely love the fabric on the back but I couldn't find the exact match to share with you but this one is from the same collection and just as awesome.

Pompom trim is everything and you can get some here, here or here.

An EPP adventure. | English Paper Piecing, Applique, Quilt

I thought I'd document the journey that I'm currently undertaking with the mystery English Paper Piecing quilt-along that I've joined. I'm learning many new things, such as the above ..my wonky version of the applecore paper piecing - did I like it, did I enjoy it?

A mystery or two...

I've decided to add to my ever-growing pile of things to do and have signed up for two mystery projects.  Have you ever done a 'mystery-along' before?

Are you joining in?

Ok, so I (we) may have fallen behind on our #2015SamplerBlankets and been distracted with lots of other fun things but hey.... I've found something else to distract us!  Will you join in with me?

An extra, un-needed step!

Turns out... that you don't need to pin the fabric in place....

You can baste just fine without pinning - THE bonus of having small hexy's!

Lesson learned!

Hexy love

So (or sew) I had made a Hexy Flower... but what do I do with it now??
I ask Mr... he just laughed.
Hmph, that didn't help.
Then I spotted a plain fabric bag.....
Hmm...
I'll let you know how it turns out!!

A little piecing....

Today finds me totally engrossed in something completely new.
... I'm paper piecing...
... and it's so much fun....
... and so incredibly easy...
... and so fast...
I love it!
I adore it!
Have you ever tried Paper Piecing?
What is it? Well, it's where you take a paper piece(!), in my case a hexagon, fold over the fabric, baste the fabric in place then join to another piece using a simple whip stitch. Once they are all joined, you take out the basting & the paper and you end up with a very cute hexagon flower (in my case). You can then make lots more and join them together to make a quilt or use it as an applique - which is what I'll think I'll do with mine.

Like it, well stay tuned as I'm going to have some sample kits to giveaway in about a month or so, then you can try it for yourself!!
